  1. I watched it on the big screen back to back with the Frontier movie the other day and if I had to pick one, I'd say it was Frontier that felt dated with all its cheesiness and lack of class (though it does have its fun moments). DYRL is like a matured fine wine, while Frontier is an alco-pop.
  2. For starters, in the new 5.1 mix they put in all the Spanish, English, Portuguese junk that you like. (Just kidding, I like it too! "Anybody got a cigarette?")
  3. Episode 2: http://www.macrossworld.com/2593/super-dimensional-seminar-episode-2-airs/#more-2593
  4. I guess we'll just have to wait for SCOOPDA!'s response, then.
  5. To be honest, I don't remember. The sound during that scene was so amazingly incredible that I totally ignored the Eirin certificate. But in any case, in my spare time I'm part of a voluntary local film festival committee and we negotiate with film distributors so we can rent 35mm films to screen in my city -- anything from some 1960s Nikkatsu thing (『セーラー服と機関銃』とか) to the latest Hollywood junk is fair game. These are one-time showings, and as far as I know, we don't have to make any deals with Eirin to show them, since they all already have classifications. I don't see why DYRL should be any different. Although I'm sort of repeating what I said before, sorry.
  6. Yeah, I heard about that, too. I can't remember what it was, either, I'm afraid, sorry. But it is true.
  7. It is clear they did rebuild it from the ground up. Hopefully we will get more insight when we see the "documentary" thing. However, the scene I'm referring to is emotionally charged, and to drop the ball there almost ruins the whole thing...
  8. But the problem is that the film itself already received an Eirin classification back in 1984 -- I don't think they revise them every time there is a screening, and certainly not if it's just a three-night event-only screening at one theater. In any case, this was a Bluray showing, which means that the change was made for the product itself and thus Eirin should have no jurisdiction on it anyway. Another thing -- Everybody, please do not forget that this was a triple-screening of DYRL with the two Frontier movies, back-to-back. In my opinion, cutting out split-second bursts of violence in DYRL and leaving extended scenes of dismemberment, headshots, impalings, blood vomiting and full-on massacres of Grace's troops in Sayonara no Tsubasa just doesn't make sense in terms of consistency. Again, this indicates that this was a change made for the product and not just the screening. Lastly: There was at least one rather noticeable edit for me. This one is uber-geeky, though. However, though I wouldn't say it ruined the movie, it certainly meant that this version fell quite short of perfection. I will put it in spoilers because if you do not notice it, you probably will be happy. Ignorance is bliss, etc. Anyway, whatever. The sound, apart from that, was MAGNIFICENT. I loved it. Especially the opening shot of the Macross logo when the horns kick in: "BA BA BA BAAAA-DAAAAH!" I thought the place was going to come down.
  9. Exactly. Under-18s were specifically NOT allowed in.
  10. Argh. I wanted to hear the dub.
  11. It won't be like the Bandai situation. For starters: these will be made-to-order -- and all that that implies.
  12. Somehow I always thought the Dancouga was much bigger. huh.
  13. "Micross Attack!" Thanks for the link. As of 2006 onwards, the Doraemon movies themselves have had exceedingly good quality. I'm serious when I say that they are among the best that Japanese animation has to offer right now. Everyone should watch that Youtube clip in 1080p HD. The character animation is absolutely amazing. If anything I would argue that they are a bit too long. In that sense, the TV show is easier to digest, but I don't watch the show. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to watch the whole movie for a few days, I hope it is still online then...
  14. Where did he get the funding to do this? What will the final project be? Will it be a commercial product, or more for a personal reel? De donde acumulo el dinero para este proyecto? Y que forma tomara el proyecto una vez completado? Sera un producto comercial, o tal vez algo personal para su carrera profesional?
  15. What is going on here? Why is this 4:3 instead of 16:9?
  16. It's a DX Chogokin, which means it can only be 1/60. Also this question is in the wrong thread. By the way, to get back on topic of the VF-171, I've had it for a day or so and all I can say is this thing is a total bitch to transform.
  17. Even though we do not exactly know what they mean by "VF-1S colour", the Ozma YF-29 is completely different to be considered anything close to a VF-1S scheme, and it is different from any other valk, too. Even has a unique head.
  18. "VF-1S" colour version of the YF-29 announced!! http://www.macrossworld.com/2465/2465/ Hope it looks good! But seriously, they should totally just make an Ozma variant......
  19. As I thought, Gerwalk sucks.
  20. I think it's good so far, and I would love to see it get a bit more attention. Conversely, I would hate to see HG profit from this in any way whatsoever, even in a non-monetary sense. I think the guy implied that he wants to sort of remake the first episode (I'm guessing in a truncated form, perhaps just the Regult attacking and "Hikaru" jumping in a VF-1 and shooting it down), so I'm sure there is more on the way.
  21. Mech_dude, thanks for the links! Dogfighter is amazing. Jason, that sounds great! Thanks, though I will need to actually go and GET a guitar first! Maybe in the next few weeks...?
  22. They mention illustration booklets and band score for the songs. So far.
  23. I just had to "plus-one" this masterpiece of a post.
