  1. Forgive me if this sounds rude, but to me, that just sounds like, "I want it, but I don't want to buy it! Life is so unfair!" Yes, open it, otherwise you might as well have paid for an empty box. If it was a nice display then things would be different, but it is just a square box. Also, I noticed that that photo is actually old. The design on the discs and the cover of the "Macross Archive" book has been changed.
  2. "Ao" means "Blue", and I assume that's why.
  3. Yes, it will be about the evolution of the Megaroad-to-Macross design.
  4. There's not gonna be any MacFirst in the upcoming issue of NA, by the way.
  5. Why "Suidobashi"? I don't get it. Is that closer to UDX than Akihabara station? Also: And finally, just one more to wrap this whole thing up... OK, I'm done, I'll be good now.
  6. Please elaborate... Do you/your wife run some sort of business like a gaming store or something?
  7. ...At the same time, Macross II is " the same kind of story we've come to known the last near 30 years", so.... yeah.
  8. I agree totally, but in his defence, I think he was only reacting to Zinjo's post about "wanting confirmation". You only need to either look at the front page or the last two dozen posts on this and the other thread to get all the "confirmation" you need, complete with sources and specific references to PR statements, news articles, and eyewitness accounts (the screenings).
  9. That should be "region" (as in, "where you live"), not "religion". And blood type is not so uncommon a shared social topic for young Japanese people, since they categorize personality types according to their blood type and even have blood type horoscopes.
  10. http://via.me/-3etxsfw Looks like that picture of my thumb is going viral.
  11. I don't recall onscreen decapitation off the top of my head (ba-dum, tshhhh!! ) but there was certainly graphic dismemberment. They blow an undercover infiltrator's arm clean off, for one. And in slow motion, no less.
  12. Don't send anything in English -- it'll be ignored. Get someone to translate what you want to say into Japanese and send that. And no, please don't ask me to do it Both the regular and limited editions are "hybrid discs". I put up a link with photos of pretty much everything... http://www.macrossworld.com/2705/do-you-remember-love-bd-alterations-confirmed/ We have had official confirmation for over a week, dude.
  13. Like I said before, repeatedly, "Macross F: Sayonara no tsubasa" is also a hybrid pack BD with a game and that has far more explicit depictions of murderous violence than DYRL (as in, it's not just "blink and you missed it"). And no "kiddy-winky" is buying this Blu-ray, anyway.

  16. Oh, and as I suspected, the issue with audio/visual cut-outs is due to the chapter-switching that occurs when you select the 1984 "theatrical" (my ass) version -- because the default running pattern is to play the introductory text during the black screen just before Britai and Exedore appear. At that point the 1984 version did an odd little skip which I noticed as I observed the timecodes on my PS3. Obviously, some players will react differently to others. All that because Kawamori absolutely has to have his goddamn scrolling text. I'm sure he did, but I doubt he read every article beginning to end.
  17. They suck. The intro is literally the thing which Kawamori said 30 years ago he didn't want to do -- a cheesy wall of scrolling text explaining the background. The ending is a grainy FB2012. Oh and the FB2012 disc is even worse -- it's a tiny box in the middle of the screen! It's like the original PAL-region SNES release of Street Fighter II: only this time, you lose every time. On a brighter note -- the visuals are not that bad at all, in fact, I'd say they look great. And I'll repeat, the grainy-ness and blurry-ness are issues with the original materials, so whatcha gonna doo. The best thing of all for me is the magazine article collection. Fantastic. I also love how they actually included the interview I translated last week where Kawamori states clearly that PUTTING A WALL OF TEXT TO EXPLAIN STUFF IS STUPID. Shame he obviously didn't read it.
  18. This was included in the DYRL BD Box set. Macross FB 7... In theatres this autumn!! As I suspected, it's most likely going to be a one-off OVA, with this screening being a promotional event like the Yamato 2199 ones. Still no clear details, though.
  19. I got ♪ L-O-V-E Lovely Minnie-May Hopkins ♪ yay
  20. OK, I will say one thing in defense of the Remastering itself, with regards to picture quality. I believe I said this to Tochiro after the screening, too. There is most likely nothing that can be done about the out-of-focus shots in the movie. Yes, there are a lot of them, but I think that was a problem which arose at the original photography stage, and it is an issue with the original negatives. If that is indeed the case, you can remaster the film all you like but those shots are never going to get sharp.
  21. If you are just talking about the edits and not the glitches, I think it's pretty clear at this point that it's none other than Kawamori himself. For evidence I point to you to the Bandai Namco statements that have surfaced, with extremely careful wording, emphatically singling out that all of this was carried out under Kawamori's supervision. Here is the "Notice" that was put up on Bamco's official page, addressing the issue of edited content, explicitly stating that the movie was edited under Kawamori's supervision. http://www.bandainam...id=741&pid=3361 And this following one is a copy-paste of an email response by Bamco from a query, basically repeating the same thing, but going as far as to even distance themselves from the actual decision-making, by using such language as "over 100 shots and retakes were made for this remaster and some scenes edited under the supervision of Shoji Kawamori, who was the original director of the film...". It's almost synonymous with "HEY, DON'T BLAME US!! IT'S HIM YOU WANT!!" http://www.mania.com...56&postcount=45 I don't remember saying that... Or did I?? Sorry if I did. I don't think that is happening at all, I think it's more a case of "It's my movie and I'll do what I want because now I am over 50, so of course I understand what my 20-year old self would have wanted when he was making this cartoon". Hey maybe Kawamori is THE SUPERVISION ARMY
  22. So far I've seen reports that someone counted as much as SEVEN SECONDS MISSING from the opening dialogue between Exedore and Britai... That almost sounds like a recall scenario to me. Anyway, I'll just leave this here, I'm going to bed now: http://engawa.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/ranime/1343042667/
  23. More reading along... They also hate the inconsistency in the clarity of the image (like Tochiro mentioned after the screening). Some people are going to take it back and get a refund, some are going to sell it off after watching it once.
  24. Confirmed -- the "Complete" (read: "non-theatrical") edition of the movie features some explanatory text at the beginning as an introduction to the story. Kawamori officially does a 180 from his original stance here: http://www.macrosswo...-miemashita-ka/ Perhaps more alarming, however.... Reports are coming in (on 2channel) that there may be flaws with the audio on the discs as some lines of dialogue get unnaturally cut out, etc. This may depend on the player that you are using. Edit -- I'm not receiving mine until tomorrow so I can only go by online postings so far.
