  1. Rest in peace. It's kind of odd that I was picturing this very situation only a couple of days ago. I was wondering how old Neil and Buzz must be now, and I figured that when they died, their deaths would and should be a big deal felt all over the world. What they managed I find incredible to this day. So far I haven't seen a huge reaction, though.
  2. Small world! I went to the Sheffield Space Centre in the 90s. That's when Rik Newman, the guy who ran the Macross 77077 website was the resident Macross expert. He was also good friends with Graham. I wonder how much the Space Centre has changed, I imagine it's still there, like Comet Miniatures in London.
  3. You can now watch the recent special TV shows, "The Men Who Made Macross" and "Super Dimension Seminar", online over at the Bandai Channel: http://www.b-ch.com/ttl/index.php?ttl_c=1104&mvc=3_25691_0_0
  4. It's legitimately online now at the Bandai Channel: http://www.b-ch.com/ttl/index.php?ttl_c=1104&mvc=3_25691_0_0
  5. You can watch these episodes online now. http://www.b-ch.com/ttl/index.php?ttl_c=1104&mvc=3_25694_0_0_0_0
  6. Old news, but here goes, anyway: http://www.macrossworld.com/3054/dyrl-blu-ray-featured-on-playstation-community-cafe/ You can see the contents of the Anniversary box and how the game plays in this video.
  7. Hey, I have that Minmay! Totally forgot about these. I also have one which is just the original Macross logo. I may have more, but don't remember. I got mine in the mid-90s, but I always wondered how legit they really were. Thanks for the "flashback"!
  8. It's an "Orguss" toy from 1983, designed by Studio Nue master Kazutaka Miyatake, and manufactured by transformation engineering geniuses Takatoku (who made the Macross toys). http://toyboxdx.com/datafiles/data/takatoku2/images/orguss/orgroid140green.jpg More info here: http://toyboxdx.com/datafiles/data/takatoku2/orguss1.php And here: http://orguss.freeservers.com/toys.html
  9. At last! I have only ever seen this thing once in my life, in the Sheffield Space Centre where as I spoke to Rik Newman, he picked it up, browsed through it, exclaimed "this is as good as bought", and walked off to the cashier with it. Thank you! Now to fiddle with torrent settings. I still can't use those things properly...
  10. The more I see of this toy, the sexier it looks...
  11. Part 3, front paged!
  12. It took me two days, but I finally made it to the end of this thing. Wow.... I don't even remember talking about half the stuff in there! Pterobat -- I gave it some thought and I finally see what you mean by the way the Zentradi completely change in the sequels... Especially in Macross Frontier, where they just become idol fanboys. And this is another of the aspects which I think is difficult to grasp for outside audiences who don't really know much about either anime or Japanese idol culture. Yet in the original, the context of the show positions the Zentradi as warlike beings with no concept of culture, so they freak out when they are exposed to a kiss, music, or other "cultural" activities. There is little pre-requisite knowledge of Japan that one needs to bring to the table to decode these aspects of the show, if at all. That is what I think has "changed" -- the aspect of accessibility.
  13. Yes, it has a different title, though. It can be found as "Flashback 1984" on the Extras disc which came only with the Limited Edition set. Another thing I noticed is that while the TV edition had Aya "Sheryl" Endo doing the narration, the full-length version features Mika "Misa" Doi narrating.
  14. Wow, that "Oniichan, dameee!!" thing really doesn't get annoying... I can't believe the "tape" cut out right at the "Lieutenant K. Warmaker" part... I remember that morphing into "Sexmaker" at one point...
  15. Yes, because the end of WW2 is so insignificant.....
  16. Those videos... Wow. It's Proto-Miku Miku Dance. Except by "professionals".
  17. Yay! Now all we need is "Mylene Graduation"!
  18. http://www.macross30.com/yuuenchi/ There will be specially-themed Macross stuff over at Tokyo Dome City Attractions from late September to November. They're going to re-decorate the big Ferris wheel ("The Big O" -- yeah, I know) with a Macross motif and hold a stamp rally, etc...
  19. It's "Caravan", not "Carnival"... If so, I'm done collecting Newtype Ace.
  20. "Ships from and sold by Tisinc99." Isn't Tisinc on the blacklist? I've heard that name.
  21. I completely understand. They could have re-drawn the entire movie with crayons and sold it in a paper bag and I still would have bought it (hell, I bought that awful "HD remaster" DVD box!)... I just love this movie too much, plus the box was a no-brainer, with all the precious materials it contains.
  22. I think it's part of the Pachislot mechanism. I remember that opened up in the middle to reveal the main LCD screen behind it. Hey look, I actually found it on Youtube : And all I can recognize from the background cacophony is the Sakura Taisen theme.
  23. It is specifically written on the packaging that the CERO rating "A" applies *only* to the "My Boyfriend is a Pilot" game, while the "B" rating applies *only* to the DYRL PS1 game. The rating does *not* affect any of the content of the disc other than the games. As for your second point, yes, it is you.
  24. Holy Kawamori! So simple... yet so beautiful!
  25. Tsk. Just do another run of "The Galaxy is Calling Me" and I'll be a happy camper.
