He did tons more illustrations for that limited second run of the Chronicle and none of them have appeared online. I hope they get greater exposure soon because they all look awesome.

Aarrrgh. Like some people have already mentioned, the scene is a result of a discrepancy that came up during production. Itano thought that it was inconsistent that in the previous episode, Hikaru had problems tackling that particular Zentradi ship (the one with the three spies) with a full armoured Valk, and yet in one very brief scene in the next episode Max just shoots the same type of ship and it promptly blows up. He decided to re-draw the whole scene and added tons of missiles to at least appear as if there is some semblance of consistency. I can't imagine he was very popular in the studio for doing so, though.

Help finding Japanese punk rock record

It's on their second, self-titled album, according to Wikipedia. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/STALIN_%28%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AB%E3%83%90%E3%83%A0%29 Oh, yeah, and also: MACROSS MACROSS MACROSS Nope, still not relevant enough... -
That fighter side profile looks amazing! I would buy this if it was maybe a third or a quarter of the price, though... I just don't like the other modes enough to spend that much on it.

When I asked Tochiro how it was, he replied, "Can't talk now, going off to see Expendables 2". So, obviously it was good enough to make you want to go back into the theater to see muscular men blowing stuff up. Er... Hmm.

Actually, I'm not seeing it on opening day (today)... the "usual suspects" are over there right now at the red-eye screening (9am), but I'm here at home spending a quiet Saturday morning doing laundry and recovering from a cold. Exciting life in Japan, folks. Also, I just watched the new Led Zeppelin movie on Wednesday, which blew me away, so FB7 might come across as muted if I watch it too soon after that. You gotta spread out your blasts of ROCK for optimal effect, you know. I might just go on Thursday, too, then. Maybe we can work something out?

Also, there will be special talk show event screenings with special guests Tetsuro Amino, Aya Endo, Megumi Nakajima and "more"... http://anime.pia.jp/feature/macross/index.html The problem is that I already paid for my non-special-event-normal-screening ticket. Sigh. This better be a good enough movie to want to see twice.... Argh!

The Transformers Thread (licensed) Next

My laptop is telling me that TFW2005 Boards is a dangerous site installing malware onto unsuspecting PCs that access it, and though I can access the front page with no problem, it gives me a warning if I try to click on a link to the forum discussions. Anybody else got this? Upon clicking the details button on the warning: Apparently there are links to sites within the boards that host malware and it is not TFW2005 itself that hosts it. So I guess it might not be a real issue, but still, I've never gotten one of these before. The diagnostic is issued by Google, FYI. My PC displays these in Japanese, so I Google-translated it and am posting it here just in case. _____________________ www.tfw2005.com/boards Safe Browsing Www.tfw2005.com/boards: diagnostic page The current status of the www.tfw2005.com/boards Site is listed as suspicious. I guess it depends on how you enjoy the show. I find the show quite difficult to watch in recent years and its story and pacing quite broken, so I haven't seen it properly in a really long time. However, I am very interested in the production process of TV animation, especially during that period of time, which means that I am looking extremely closely at those scratches, the dust, the shadows and the back-lit effects, etc. It tells you a lot of information. I understand that that is separate to the entertainment of the show as a story, though. So at the end of the day it is about what you want to get out of it. As for how I actually "celebrated" -- I actually ended up just watching the first episode of the Super Dimension Seminar, which is a condensed edition of the Macross Special, which is the first broadcast of episodes 1 and 2 back-to-back. The VF-1D falling to the ground, crashing into a bunch of buildings, then stumbling around and smashing into a Chinese girl's bedroom, then taking off and catching said Chinese girl in mid-air and landing again... For me, that IS Macross! EDIT -- Also, there was an earthquake here in Tokyo just as I was writing that. MEGAROAD LAUNCH!!

Well, I'm not very well versed in customization, but I have heard that the glossy finish of the VF-19 mold plus its tight tension points (e.g. the chest block locking onto the nosecone) leaves it prone to scratches and paint peeling. It might even be better to simply paint a couple of areas white on the body of the VF-19Kai, and do a couple of part swaps if you want a full red 19P.

Glad you're still around, dude! However, I cannot really agree... I think the Animeigo (I have the Madman R4 release, which is pretty much identical) set looks pretty bad now. But I guess I'm spoiled with all the remastered releases of recent years, the DVD and now Blu-ray.

Lol. So much for robots in disguise. These things look awful. I liked FP Bruticus, though. I wonder how easy it will be to get the reissue sets (Hasbro set + the FP toys). I haven't decided to get it, but if I eventually do, I don't want to end up with just one set and not the other, as you need both, obviously.- 9146 replies

Yeah, my VF-22 Max is like that too. I remember that it used to be just stiff enough to hold in the open position at first, but after a while it just became too loose to hold.

Done with Macross Dynamite Seven. Next week... MACROSS II: LOVERS AGAIN! And... it's Episode 1: "Contact" -- apparently they are not doing two episodes in one go anymore, but will show almost the entire first episode! -
