  1. Yes, but the YF-21 was based on the Queadluun Rau female powered suit. They're busting with oestrogen.
  2. Here is the joint that has been assembled backwards, compare it to the one on the Fire Valk. Believe it or not, it does make a difference. Here's what the head looks like underneath the visor. Oh no, faces, faces everywhere, whatsoever will I do, etc. The rest is a bunch of kickass pics.
  3. I dunno, the nose looks really long to me, still.
  4. I located a screw... you have to hinge the whole transformation shoulder joint 45 degrees towards the back of the robot (the arm's position in fighter mode) to access it, though, and even then it looks like it would be hard work to try to fit a screwdriver in there, though. As for the colour, it is quite a bright white, I don't have any white 1/60 VF-1's... It is brighter than the 1/48's I have, though. Although I think it is a slightly more off-white than the non-paint plain versions of the 1/60 mold (those are completely bone-white, almost with a pink hue, from what I have seen, but I don't own any). I love this thing. I'll see if I can get the issues sorted out in the new year. I will post more pics as soon as I can.
  5. Like I said, the only gimmick is the landing gear, so no. Yeah, it's a real disappointment at this price range, but what can you do. It looks nice, though.
  6. I know why I was having so much trouble getting the chest low enough to lock. One of the die-cast hinge pieces connecting the backpack to the bottom of the body has been assembled backwards. I thought it looked a little odd so I compared it with the one on my Fire Valk and yes, it's the wrong way round. Tiny fractions of centimeters really make a world of difference when you consider the tolerances involved. I have been phoning Yamato the day after nearly every single purchase since 2001 and I had hoped that this would have been an exception. Alas...
  7. No, because apparently the cockpit sits laterally (horizontal to the ground if the battroid is standing), unlike the VF-25 and its derivatives.
  8. Yep, sorry, that's what I meant.
  9. No, not the die-cast ones attached to the torso, I mean the ones attached to those: the actual arm swivel that allows the arm to swing forward and back.

Well, that is understandable, as those were all TV shows. Macross II received minimal coverage, but mostly in B-Club, and such "maniac"-oriented magazines.
  11. Well, Kawamori did say that it is a multipurpose module, so I'm sure you'll get your wish!
  12. ♪ "It's a new frontier!" ♫ BEAUTIFUL toy! It's the Valk I've wanted for so long. I have only transformed it to Battroid so far, and all the joints are nice and tight... except the shoulder swivels. I don't know why, but on my Fire Valk they are dead tight, and on the P they are worryingly loose. Not so much that the arms do not hold their position, but I worry that they will get looser in time. Other than that, maybe it's the early tightness, but I had some issues trying to push the chest module down far enough for it to lock into its proper battroid position. This 19 mold is finicky and everything must be just right for all the modes to work just right. I have not moved the Gerwalk joint yet, and I don't know if I will get round to it, because I remember from my experience with the Fire Valk that that joint is the tightest, most heart-attack-inducing thing Yamato has ever, ever made... Oh, one more thing: Although the shoulders do not open, there are holes at the back just like the VF-19S (and the F, I assume?) that will fit the Sound Booster!
  13. Just opened my VF-19P box -- confirmed, the shoulder pauldrons are removable (they come packaged separately)!!
  14. Pic-sie squadron! After fiddling around, I can say that they are very nice. I had a bit of a parts-fit issue with the left lower-leg armour at first, but it seems to be stable now that I changed the order in which I apply the parts onto the valk. One of the wings is even looser than the original ones now. The pin wants to pop out all the time. It's a slight annoyance, but the set does come with extra pins just in case, so perhaps using the newer pins will fix it? I haven't tried. The thigh armour does indeed pop off a lot, but I don't think it's as bad as the V1's. You will want to have them off during transformation, though. That said, transformation into fighter mode with all the stuff on is much simpler than I was expecting (you cannot put the armour on AFTER transformation into fighter, though). The shoulder rotation and everything went just fine. The only issue I had was with the legs. I don't like the leg transformation to begin with, with all this rotation going on before you can properly extend the legs, there is only so much stress those plastic knee hinges are going to bear, and now you have the added wrap-around leg armour to fit under the backplate. I only managed to do one leg properly and the other one did not want to rotate into the lateral position, nor would I force it. So I took off the armour, rotated the leg and slid the armour back into the space between the leg and backplate. I hope I don't have to do that every time. Great set, slightly pricey considering the only gimmick is the working landing gear, but really makes the VF-171 a chunkier, meaner-looking machine.

Actually, the term "non Studio Nue timeline" is meaningless these days, since Studio Nue has virtually nothing to do with Macross after Zero. You might as well shove Frontier into that timeline. There's no real rights issue either. Yeah, this is most likely the real deal. Kawamori just doesn't think MacII fits anywhere.

    Macross 30

Macross II has been recognized as being set in 2091 for a long time now. Even in the Macross Chronicle magazines. I actually find it kind of interesting just how obsessed foreign fans are over continuity and how little Japanese fans seem to care about it.
  17. I just got my set and it really does depend on the lighting. It's night time now, so I am using my living room lights, and mine look nothing like the deep blue/purple shown in the gamu-toys link. They are a deep charcoal/navy blue sort of colour. I haven't put them on the valk yet, but so far they look fine. I already read that the hip armour loves to pop off, as usual for Bandai. I just hope it's not as bad as the VF-25 V1's.
  18. I'm quite sure that would be Gimlet. He's the life of the party every time they do one of these events (he made those Lego Destroids from a while back). This is the Digital Mission VF-X version. There is no Battroid lineart for the FB2012 version.
  19. That didn't happen on October 16th.
  20. VF-171EX FAST packs and VF-19P... They're not really presents though, since I bought them myself and they won't arrive in time for Christmas anyway.
  21. Well... yeah. But as discussed in another thread, they don't even put Japanese subtitles on their own stuff.

The birth of a meme, ladies and gentlemen!
  23. Me too! Although I promised I wasn't going to buy another version... I have the UK VHS's, one US VHS, JP VHS's, JP DVD series box sets, JP Movie DVD, JP LD box (movie+series), and I just think enough is ENOUGH -- I never watch them anyway! But I still felt I had to own this one... MACROSS PLUS IN HD That's my language
  24. Looks like some of the extras are interesting. They have a special edit version of the Fire Bomber 2012 concert, so that Megumi/Fukuyama/Chie+no-synths version of the medley will almost certainly be there. Argh, I've been EXO-sniped!!
