I think it's a marketing tactic. YF-30 notwithstanding, the YF-29 is the newest, hottest valk right now thanks to the popularity of Sayonara no Tsubasa and this is the fifth variant. I'm quite sure they made it an "Isamu Special" because MacPlus, being an OVA, has little exposure within the young folk in Japan, so it would give an opportunity for them to say "so, who is this Isamu guy?" and get interested in the Plus story.... Just in time for the Macross Plus Blu-ray later this year! I think the timing of these releases is very carefully planned out.

I think one's called Mena and the other one is Aisha. I don't remember which is which. I stopped by a bookshop today and browsed through what I think is the new Famitsu. There were several pages on the game plus a two-page interview with Chisuga, but I did not see the score breakdown or anything approaching an analytical review anywhere. Did I just miss it??

I heard it was due to licensing. Similar to how usually resin kits are one-day exclusives.

Looking on the official site, I just noticed that Mylene doesn't actually have her VF11MAXL, but uses Millia's VF-1J instead... I hope the MAXL is unlockable later..

Yes, it has both on one disc. But be aware that it is only the regular edition and not the limited edition with all the extra stuff like Flashback 2012 and the documentary, books, filmstrip, etc.

Thanks! I often listen to other podcasts on topics that I have little knowledge of, so we tried to make it relatively easy to understand without that much prior understanding of who/what Yamato is. Yeah. I don't regret not pre-ordering. I may consider getting it eventually just for the engineering, but otherwise I'm fine. For me, it's more about what the VF-4 represents -- it was pretty much commissioned by the fans, produced as a direct response to demand, and represents just how far ahead of the game they are in transforming toy know-how. And it would have been impossible without a ton of love for the IP.

They're probably copies of the original settings materials. Like I said, there was supposed to be a sourcebook, but it was cancelled. Your best bet is to get the Macross Chronicle, as they reprint most of this stuff with figures and data. There was a book planned, and it was advertised, with a title and everything, but it was eventually cancelled. I think the lack of popularity is a certain thing, not just for Zero, but for Macross overall. Frontier was a miraculous success in that sense, that put the Macross name back on the map and reinvigorated interest in it for younger fans. Zero only catered to the older fanbase.

Yeah, there was one for the PSP but the Macross games were not supported. Maybe that changed recently..
