Yeah, those are ammo boxes, for when you need to reload. You won't need to carry so much, especially at first, so you should manually transfer the items into the storage area on the ship every so often. I find that 3 or 4 boxes per weapon are enough to have in-hand, the rest can go into storage. Carrying fewer items onto the field means you can have more items to pick up while you're out there and take back home before you reach the limit.

There is no extra DVD or anything, the interviews and stuff are all unlockable in-game. Therefore it doesn't matter if it is the first print run or not.

So, I was reading the History of Macross Games booklet that comes with the special edition and something struck me. One of the images they have taken from the Macross Last Frontier game (the one from the Sayonara no Tsubasa hybrid pack), though it is small, shows a YF-29 Isamu type! Er... was that ALWAYS in the game? Now that I think about it, I do vaguely remember people talking about either an SMS YF/VF-19 or a 29 in Isamu colours floating around in the Last Frontier game before Macross 30 was officially announced... Huh. Well, I still haven't unlocked it, and I'm not sure when I will have time to do so. Has anyone here unlocked the one in Last Frontier? What are the requisites? As for Macross 30, I should point out that I was expecting it to be a Hybrid Pack sort of deal, where the videos would be accessible from the video menu, but they have to be unlocked from the Gallery menu within the game, and even then you can only access the gallery when you are in your ship, not roaming on the planet. And even THEN, it's all 780p, not 1080. Still, good content. Nice to see all the actors having a laugh.

Macross 7 Bluray Boxset Details Announced
Renato replied to SCOOPUDA!'s topic in Movies and TV Series
Very sad news. The voice actress who played Rex, Kaoru Shimamura, has passed away at the young age of 43. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-02-27/voice-actress-kaoru-shimamura-passes-away-at-43 She may not be a household name but she was talented and it is always tragic when someone passes so soon before their time. She was perfect for the role of the cool biker lady with that slightly raspy, rough, yet elegant voice. I shall find time today to watch the episode (on BD, make no mistake!) when she is possessed and delivers an incredible blood-curdling scream at the top of her lungs, to the amazement of Mylene, Ray and Veffidas (But not Basara, of course). -
RIP Ms. Shimamura. She was perfect as Rex.

Yeah, you guys are such bastards! As penance, you have to write all the English translations to all the menus and dialogue by the day of official release!

It's probably one of my favourite features. In the past you have been able to replace any/most BGM tracks with MP3s which are on the hard disk/memory stick. It was sort of annoying in the PSP games since you had to make a specific BGM folder within the MUSIC directory, and then put the MP3s in there. Since the standard Sony Firmware's MP3 player does not support access of MP3s stored in double folders, it's sort of a waste (I use CFW so it's a non-issue, though -- there are a multitude of fan-made MP3 players with many more features that allow you to play almost any format, anywhere on the memory stick). What's great is that you can even change the song attack tracks. Say, for example, you have Ranka as your support, when you trigger the special song attack, while she would usually sing Seikan Hikou or Aimo or something, you can make her sing Smoke on the Water or Baby Got Back... depending on what you're into! On the PS3, many games including My Boyfriend is a Pilot 2012 (DYRL Hybrid pack) allows you to simply replace the tracks with those in any folder within "Music", so it should be easier. I'm not a fan of the standard BGM that Artdink reuses over and over, so I shall be replacing tons of stuff. The other day I played an hour or so of Another Century's Episode R on my PS3 just to "get warmed up" for Mac30, and I replaced a lot of the BGM with the oldschool Tetsujin 28-gou music. It makes the whole playing experience that much more enjoyable, and even just cruising along in your favourite robot with your favourite music is just as fun as blowing up baddies. Really looking forward to putting on some smooth grooves while just roaming Planet Ouroboros...

concert bound! Going to Macross Crossover Live 30!
Renato replied to The Songstress Fairy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Hmm. About 4 or 5 years ago, they released some of the 1980s stuff from VHS ("Maroon", "Atchoo!", etc) in one DVD package. A while before that they released the 1990 "Something Special" VHS on DVD... But I don't recall seeing any original DVD that is not a rerelease of a previous format. -

Yeah, I can't find anything more recent than 8 hours ago... -
Gashapons are cheap toys that come in small plastic capsules sold on the street in vending machines like gumballs. Trading figures are typically larger, slightly more expensive blind-boxed toys, sold in stores in a similar style to trading cards.

Maybe she deleted it because I can't find that comment anywhere..? -
Yeah, those were nice. Those weren't gashapons, though, but rather trading figures.

It's probably an isolated case which BW made an exception for, but even if the VF-X is considered "a completely separate piece of IP" like the FB2012 and VFX versions of the VF-4, it only transforms into a VF-1A... which Yamato already had the license for as we have seen through countless repaints prior. It's not like it transforms into Optimus Prime or some other completely separate design, as in the case with the VF-4.
-
I believe they need to get approval for each specific design. Wow, talk about haphazard..! Just kidding, I agree with everything you wrote.
-
Hey, sorry, dude. But the DVD came out in 2011 and I think we're past the statute of limitations, no? In any case, it just didn't occur to me since the question itself was not in spoiler tags...

Well, that's unfortunately not going to change since the special move system has been like that since the very first PSP game, and it has remained so for 6 games including the PS3 ones. It is mildly annoying because you cannot control the valk during the duration of the special move (although you can switch targets), either. But I'm OK with that, it would be too easy otherwise, since this way you have to get in position and time your moves just right.

I think he's referring to the scene where they use some part of an asteroid or something to surf on, so that they can enter the atmosphere. His question is probably better phrased as, "Did they really need to do that?" Ah, except Zomd and Goram, that is. http://deadliestfictionalwarrior.wikispaces.com/Goram+%26+Zomd "Hooo, hooo, hooo." And I think Glavil and Gavil's combined form are invulnerable to nukes, too.

I don't want to seem like a nit-picker (if I did I would not let you get away with confusing "its" and "it's" ;P ) but whatever word you choose for "Totsugeki" in Totsugeki Love Heart, and I agree that "Storming" is probably just as good as any, it is still "Love Heart" and not "Love Hurt". Aside from that I also thought that the 90s band-boom and band-antagonism aspect was interesting when I read the issue, so I'm glad you translated it to share with all.

I have to apologize for one thing here: towards the end we talk a bit about the Yamato Showroom event that neither of us attended, but we refer to the pre-release pictures that were put up on this post here: http://www.macrossworld.com/3968/vf-4g-transformation-photo-gallery/ I'm sorry that I completely neglected to give credit where it's due, and I take this opportunity to thank Save and Tochiro for taking the time to carefully map out each step of the transformation with pictures that I know took a long time to edit and give us their impressions, no doubt helping out all enthusiasts on the fence in making their purchasing decisions. We referenced it but failed to actually mention their involvement.

I don't know the specifics, but regarding the VF-4, I don't think it's that they couldn't get the license, it's just that the VF-4 from FB2012 does not transform. So even if they got the FB2012 license and made a transforming toy of that design, they are still basing robot mode from the game, right? Meaning that they would then be stealing intellectual property from a different license (VFX) which they have not secured. To make the valk that everyone wants they would have to take out TWO licenses -- one from FB2012 and one for VFX -- and I doubt they were prepared to do that. That valk would have been waaay more expensive. They got around it by providing stickers and effectively telling fans to mod it themselves. As for the Mospeada thing: Yeah, but of all the companies making Mospeada stuff only CMs managed to finish that race, and their "stealth" repaints are still languishing on shelves right now. Interest really petered out before Megahouse and Beagle could finish what they started. I don't see the market being able to magically support those items now.
-
Yeah, the issue is how they would sell it. Sounds like the Destroids thing all over again. They could do it, but at great expense, and very limited quantities. They might do it in a similar deal to the VF-4. Mospeada toys were made about 5 years ago because that was the peak of mid-80s robot nostalgia at the high-end of the market, hence all the Dorvack/Dragonar/Layzner stuff too. Mospeada is a forgotten franchise for the most part and those toys didn't sell well even back then, despite all the excitement over the Beagle, Megahouse and CMs. We have long passed the peak. They will have to think of some other way of getting the items to the (few) people who want them. In my mind, it's got "limited websclusive" written all over it. Of course, that worked for the VF-4 so it may be a non-issue after all.
