That's interesting. I wonder if, as part of the "extras", they will finally produce those mini 1/60 Fire Bomber figures of Basara, Mylene, Ray and Veffidas that they showed that one time. I should still have the photo of the prototypes somewhere...

Not to take this further off topic, but since it came up, what is the deal with the VF-19E? I seem to recall that in the VF Master File book it was the base for the 19Kai, but I think M30 depicts it with a Yf-19 airframe. And of course, Seto quotes the Chronicle as saying that the E is based on the YF... I know that the Master File books are not considered canon, but it sounds like a pretty big inconsistency there.

As for Basara, I think that a lot of people completely forget that entire story arc where Basara leaves to wander the Planet Lux AFTER he saw that his song was not powerful enough to wake Sivil. He takes off because of something that Ray said to him, which was that some people just don't want to listen to his song, and that maybe he should think about why he sings and why he should continue to sing. So there is a whole string of episodes where he is wandering the forest, the desert, and even encountering enemies and other aliens and refuses to sing.... which people seem to forget, for some reason, I just don't get it. It is not until Sivil takes him and Gigil across the galaxy that Basara finds his purpose once more, which is to sing to the vastness of the galaxy itself, which of course culminates in the whole ending climax with him trying to "move the mountain". So I don't know what show everyone else watched, but in my mind Basara has quite a clear progression from arrogance ("Listen to my song!"), to self-doubt ("why do I sing?") to re-affirmation ("I'll make the mountain move today!! Mountain, Galaxy, LISTEN TO MY SONG!!"). I don't know what the next Macross series will bring, but the more I post on this thread, the more I think everyone should just watch Macross 7 again.

Primus1X: CGI basically IS a staple of Satelight -- that is what they primarily do. They are a 3DCG animation company. Most of the 2D character anmation stuff for Macross Frontier was done at 8-Bit, and other studios like that. I think CG is kind of a given at this point.

EXO -- The one I broke was the Hi-Metal Sound Booster, so I really want THAT to get reissued. Isamu Dyson-- I wouldn't read too much into the word "custom" -- it is just a translation of the "Kai" from VF-19Kai.

Macross World Podcast - feedback & comments
Renato replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Tochiro, I think he's referring to the full-size ones, which are usually framed, and limited in number. Those do go for 60,000 and upwards.- 1147 replies

Yeah, the cameo is in the "City Police 24 Hours" short, as Nekko Basara said, but the Patroids themselves feature in many episodes of the TV show. Didn't anyone watch that show??
-
Um... yeah, M7 did that, too.
-
Got it in one!
-
As with so many story ideas that have come up in this thread, I gotta say, once again, "Mac7 did it!" to the police robots idea. In fact, here's Goto and Shinobu from Patlabor making a cameo in Mac7. Sorry guys, but M7 already did everything. EDIT -- BTW, the police mecha are actually called "Patroids" in M7. And yes, they transform.

Yeah, that whole sequence makes absolutely no sense and I'm glad they removed it for the movie. It's best not to rack you brains over it. At least the animation in that scene is nice, though.

Macross World Podcast - feedback & comments
Renato replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
Thanks for the feedback, guys! Nekko Basara, you win the award for best handle ever. I myself was surprised to see this episode online so soon after -- not even a week after we recorded it! Tochiro really put his all into editing and uploading it before the rampant speculation died down and our commentary ceases to be relevant. Marzan: Well, the thing about MW is that the "Boys Club" image is so strong that any new female fans who were brought in by Frontier would probably feel intimidated and not post. I know there are even female fans who have an MW user account but have never posted. Let's face it, MW is about the mecha, for the most part. I'm not knocking it, it is what it is, but it's the prominent image that greets you at the top of every page, and the Toys section is the most feverish. I just think it's perfectly understanddable that we may not get many new female members any time soon. Having said that, those female fans are very active in other forums, like AnimeSuki, and they have also been very productive in the Fan Art side of things, as you can see on DeviantArt, etc. And don't forget what happened last MW Con (or was it the previous one?), when a bunch of girls showed up expecting a cosplay contest and one had to be hurriedly set up impromptu! There's no cosplay forum on MW! And when there was a cosplay thread, it was all just a bunch of dudes leering lewdly... "Wow, this one's smokin' hot!!" Don't get me wrong, I do not want to propose a change in this site that I am not confortable feeling responsible for, I am just giving my theories as to why those female fans are not visible on here. They ARE out there, though.- 1147 replies

Heh... I've never, ever heard anyone say that about Mikimoto. I can assure you I for one did not buy all volumes of Macross 7 Trash and Marionette Generation, or Cherish or Reverb, for the "story".

CDs, not MP3s. This is Japan, not Silicon Valley

Wow. That guy on 2ch has made so many transformation mistakes that it's not even funny.
-
Yeah, but that is to curb the proliferation of matome-blogs, which just take the 2ch content and copy-paste it, so they can get lots of clicks. We did not copy or redistribute any of the text from 2ch. In our case, we are just talking in general about what kinds of reactions the Japanese users of 2ch have had, in broad terms. We're not reproducing anything. For example, it is illegal to copy and upload an episode of Macross Frontier on the internet, right? OK, we do not do that. But on the podcast we do talk *about* Macross Frontier, and its content. So, is that redistribution/reproduction? I do not think so. We just talk **about** stuff, that's what a podcast is. 複写・転載は一切していません。

Macross World Podcast - feedback & comments
Renato replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
It has come to my attention that we have now been doing this podcast for three years. Time really flies!! Our first episode was just after Sayonara no Tsubasa came out, and we have survived while Macross Ace and Newtype Ace came and went, FB7 erm, "happened", and of course things were winding down but are only going to heat up again as we move into a new stage in the history of the Macross franchise. We always feel we have a lot to talk about because, frankly, there is ALWAYS something Macross-related happening, and we feel it is our duty to put it out there and let people in the English-speaking world know. I think it is important that despite the HG blockade, Macross as a property is full of vitality in Japan. Having said that, if anyone has any suggestions regarding further discussion topics other than event reports or speculation on the latest news, please leave some here or go on iTunes and leave us a review/comment, or email us directly at.... whatever the address is. Tochiro? I think it's like speakerpodcast at gmail or something like that. There is a lot to look forward to: more guests, more events, more product reviews (the Shudista box set comes out in a month and a half!), more deculture and more anima spiritia!! Iku ze, kawaiiko-chan!! Yaa--fuuu!- 1147 replies

Saruta -- Mari Iijima reprised her role as "young" Minmay in Mac30 just last year and sounded fine. That said, I highly doubt they would focus on an older Minmay.
-
For the record, it is midnight and I have just arrived home after an overly long session of recording the latest episode of Macross SpeakerPodCast, where we cover -- among other things like recent events and also some Lovers Again stuff, whatever that is -- the various reactions to this news (including what Japanese users of 2ch have posted) in fair depth. It should be coming soon so please look forward to it!

"Music bullets" already appeared in Mac7, they're called "SpeakerPods".

Marzan: I think that was me. I wanted to show just how completely removed from any expectations the very concept of a kabuki-actor-turned-Valk-pilot was. Not to mention the fold-wave magical earrings and networked brain system. Who honestly saw that coming? If you want to predict the content of the next show, you'd better think outside the box.... WAY outside...
-
Oh my god, the pilot figures are poseable!! Jan/Yang can move his arm and Isamu can turn his head!! That's incredible! EDIT -- Also, fold booster attachment parts confirmed, for use with the Yamato one!

-Megaroad? -No characters under 18? -Mikimoto? -Itano? I don't think you want a TV show, you want an OVA
