  1. Thanks, Vifam7. I agree, the markets have their own idiosyncrasies, but still you have to look back and see that even during the early 2000s when Macross was not really such a profitable brand and Bandai stayed the hell away (BV notwithstanding), they still managed to put out Macross Zero. At the end of the day, there are people putting effort into the Macross brand, taking risks, stimulating interest and reaping rewards. HG is doing none of this. But yeah, it's like beating a dead horse at this point.
  2. In that Robotech forum link, Kevin McKeever says that the announcement of the new Macross show may "validate" what he "has been saying in these threads". Does anyone know what that means? What has he been saying?
  3. Strumvogel: I was there; it was the BD screening. We podcasted on it last weekend so once the editing is all done and the thing goes up you'll have all the details.
  4. They are small but price-wise, they are not so bad, considering. 18,000 yen for a fully transforming VF-9 GK is reasonable.
  5. This is weird. Brian Ashcroft wrote a piece which appeared in yesterday's edition of The Japan Times about Mario Kart 8 and Arcadia's GU-11 Gunpod. I have to say, I have never seen the word "Macross" in a headline in the Japan Times before (although there was a big article on Sayonara no Tsubasa in the English edition of the Mainichi Shimbun when that came out). You can access the story at japantimes.co.jp. I cannot post the link here because (as I explained in the Help forum) the copy/paste function does not work for me.
  6. You're right, I am not correct. Twenty-six threads NOT bitching about Macross 7. You must be proud. OK, let me give you the benefit of the doubt here and say you posted ten -- bah, hell, make twenty -- times in each of those threads. That is a total of 520 non-M7 bitch posts. Looking at your count as it stands now, you have 6465 in total. That's 12.4%. I don't know, but that's really not enough to convince me. Besides, at the end of the day, even if a guy on a murder trial pleads to the judge "But your Honour!! Look at the 7 BILLION people I DIDN'T kill!!", I think it's safe to say he isn't walking free -- unless there is something seriously wrong with the judicial system.
  7. Dimis: Um... The Digital Mission scheme IS the one Yamato actually produced. You're probably thinking of Max's VF-4 from M3 on the Dreamcast.
  8. AgentOne, do you have some kind of OCD that makes you just HAVE TO ABSOLUTELY turn every single thread you type in into a "I HATE M7" thread? It's been TWENTY YEARS. Two decades harbouring hatred for a cartoon about ending hatred. I know old habits die hard, but can you please maybe make an effort to start actually contributing something to the conversation for once? If you don't like a cartoon, the civilized thing to do is just say "it's not for me", and let people who enjoy it, simply enjoy it. I'm not a Frontier fan, but I wouldn't want to wish it out of existence, because then what of the people who do like it? I do not have the right to take somebody's enjoyment away from them, lest they be committing a crime or something. And no, please don't come back with "But M7 IS a crime!!"
  9. What were your search terms? I suggest you try "Megaroad", "Destroids" and "GRITTY". I'm sure you'll find it then.
  10. That sure sounds like a really fun cartoon!!!!
  11. I think he means that the Plus valks were not CG. Anyway, Save in the latest podcast mentioned that the valks in the commercial were actually modelled in 3D and then made to look like 2D hand-drawn anime.
  12. I think because of the way it was written, I misinterpreted the description. I think the audio commentary is a separate thing, and the "rare" "Message from Ishtar" is an audio-only extra. They did the same thing for the Tickemaga CD thing on the Macross7 BDs (oh and all 13 episodes of that damn Sheryl Nome radio show to pad the FB7 BD, which I still haven't finished listening to), so there's precedent. And I did end up ordering this. Although I do miss that awful English dub. There's less to make fun of now! Oh, one more thing -- upon a closer inspection of those promotional trailers, I think I spotted a couple of scenes from the problematic "blue-tinted" episode that we mentioned on the Podcast... and they look like they're supposed to (without the blue tinge)! Erm... I think! Well, we'll find out in July, I guess.
  13. Apparently the inner jacket is going to be done by Masami Obari! Also, there is going to be an audio commentary on it, called "Message from Ishtar". Sounds interesting. Please don't make me buy this, you b***ards.
  14. If we are finding out what happened to the Megaroad for the 50th anniversary, it better be the greatest story ever told in the history of everything, or else I can imagine the disappointment of the now-old-age-pensioner fans in their 60s and 70s -- I waited half a century for THIS?? I don't see what the point is of continuing a story the audience for which is dying. (Edited for poor grammar)
  15. Yeah, happened to me, too. I miss cartridge-based consoles.
  16. Yeah, those are new to me. I have never seen Japanese editions of those.
  17. Is it going to be actually raised so it is standing? If so I might go to see it, as I can cycle over there, but yeah, those crowds are going to be a pain and I'm pretty busy today.
  18. The stage suit Basara figure came with the Sound Booster, so if this is a bundle I would expect they would include both the stage costume and the green shirt figures, at the very least. I wouldn't worry about that.
  19. Like I said before, there are plenty of VF-19 transformation videos out there. This toy isn't really all that different, at least not in the areas that are problematic.
  20. Yes, Jvmacross, those are the figures I was talking about. Also, I found the photograph I took back at the November 2011 Yamato Showroom event. I think the focus is a little sharper so you can see more details. Notice also the VF-0D plans peeking out from the side. I didn't upload this pic because we were not allowed to, but I suppose it's OK now.
  21. But the transformation is 99% the same as the Yamato VF-19 series, and lots of people including Mr. K have already uploaded dozens of transformation videos of those.
  22. I'll see if I can find it. It should be amongst the pics that I took at the last Yamato Showroom I went to (the one with the VF-19S and 17S). But it was the only photo I never put up because that was one of the hush-hush things we were not allowed to share online. I figure now that Yamato is technically no more, no harm, no foul, right?
  23. It's odd... Stats aside, the Kai being configured from an F means that they would have had to change the wings and add canards, among other things. But those wings and canards are present at least in the P variant, officially. Yeah, Aisha's fighter is a VF-19E, but looks no different to a YF-19 or VF-19A, yet is worlds apart from the depiction of the E in the Master File book.
  24. Yeah, he said that they might change it "as it's the 20th anniversary", so it might even just be a sparkly/metallic red paintjob. I believe they did that with the old Garland special edition pack, didn't they? The one that came with the Megazone DVD.
