I believe it's on the DYRL This Is Animation Special book. I can't remember too well, though, 'cos I can't find my copy, some git may have nicked it, so I've been wanting to get a new one for ages. Actually I'm going into town later so I might get it today.

Has the Fire Bomber band ever play U.S. convention
Renato replied to zeus the zentran's topic in Movies and TV Series
*ahem* Yeah, that's great, but can anyone translate that gobbledygook into English?? -
What? What's going on? Who's making copies of what now??

Really? I dunno, I'm not really into the whole anime song stuff. I did buy the single from Majinkaizer (though I've never seen the show) which features Fukuyama on lead vocals, though and that's not bad. So I suppose a JAM Project concert -- while not the "real deal" -- is better than no Fukuyama at all. -
Yeah I remember reading that article at the time. Wow, it seems so long ago... I believe Valkyrie owns a copy of the concert program. So, what, does a recording of this concert exist, then? If so, I want it too.

Which would be a lot easier without a certain other company whose initials are the same as Horrid Garbage......sigh Graham Hehe. "Hideous Gangrene".

Back in what was it 2002, when we first heard about Macross Zero, I pleaded with Yamato to suggest exactly this to Big West, but obviously nothing came of it. The Japanese are often so short-sighted (or just don't care) when it comes to the international market......sigh Graham Yeah, but then they'd have to hire someone to actually do a translation and put the subs on... I think you're right: they can't be bothered, because they don't see how popular their shows are overseas. But then, they could do a lot to boost this, such as lowering the price. Subtitle or no subtitle, I aint paying Y4000 or Y5000 or whatever the hell it is for a 30 minute show, and neither will many fans who would import normally but will settle for a downloadable version if it's free. So first of all we have to make sure we prove to them that they have real sales potential in the foreign markets, but first they have to do something about the price and the subtitle options.

I would love to see that. Bring your recorder Don't have one, but I wonder if I can get away with a really short movie clip using a mobile phone. Ah, crap, should have done that last time... Anyway, he's got a DVD out now. If I knew how to and had the software to rip these things I'd do it straight away -- that guy is awesome, I can't say it enough. At one point in the DVD, HE PLAYS THE GUITAR WITH HIS FOOT. Jesus, I thought stuff like that disappeared with the death of Hendrix and the disbandment of Zeppelin, but there's Fukuyama, trying single-handedly to revive rock. He's doing a pretty damn good job of it, too. -
Send it over to Shawn and he may put it on his upcoming DVD thing.

That live show didn't include Humming Bird, just the VAs and some no name band. Humming Bird themselves have disbanded in May 2000. But lead singer Yoshiki Fukuyama (the singing voice of Basara) is still active. http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/alinda_sue/page2/profile.htm Ah, dammit, that Alinda Sue page really haunts me... OK, look. I was the first person ever to have bothered to make a webpage in English devoted to Hummingbird. Yes, that page is now gone, but I just had to make that clear. And yes, Hummingbird disbanded a few years ago, I remember it exactly... My dreams shattered.. But nevertheless, Fukuyama is better than ever. I saw him two weeks ago doing his acoustic thing, his new album came out last week (it's awesome) and I'm gonna see him again next Monday. In fact, I may hijack the boards for a while and put up a little concert review type topic like the Mari Iijima one recently. FUKUYAMA = GOD. (And no, the VA is obviously not the same as the singer, read some of the responses in this very thread!) -
According to the Macross Compendium, the events on Mayan were kept secret for at least forty years. Forty years? So the facts are released around the time VFX2 takes place? Hmm. I doubt he will, but this means that if there are too many continuity problems, Kawamori can play his "movie within a movie" card again and just say that M0 is just a show within the Macross universe, released in 2048. Yay.

But isn't that just the normal, original version?

Is there? What CD is it on? My memory isn't that great, but you may be confusing it with the "Friends - Across the dimensions" single featuring both Tomo Sakurai and Mari. There were two versions released, one with a B-side by Tomo and one with one by Mari, which was a 15th anniversary edition of "Angels Paints", not DYRL.

No time soon. Since she lives in LA she regularly performs there. Every so often she comes back to Japan cause she has a fan club she has to do stuff for. But since she has no business in London I doubt she'll be performing there.

There's one sung by Ishtar, I think, on the Tribute CD, and also a recent Mari recording on the "Mari Iijima sings Lynn Minmay" CD, which an acoustic version with Mari on piano.

Check out that synopsis. WTF??

I was wondering what happened to MANIMAL.... Anyone remember that?

This is true. I actually had the chance to buy this thing second hand a few weeks ago, but I declined. Is 3000 yen too much? Is is as crap as Transformers Headmasters? If so, I want to see it. I love things that are SO CRAP, they're GOOD. Hope I have the chance to get this DVD when it gets done. Thanks, Shawn!

I hate the matrix, but check out that price. 45 quid for 10 discs? That's gotta be a bargain even for a casual fan. Now try and juxtapose that with the MAJOR RIP-OFF which is the Japanese release of DYRL, at pretty much the same price. One disc, no extras, no subtitles, no nothing. But still, one disc of DYRL is worth more than ten discs of the Matrix in my opinion...

Dunno about you, but he sure let me down with that craptastic ending to the Macross Plus OVA. He realised his mistake, luckily, and fixed it in the movie edition.

Well... what other Simpsons involves the towers to the same degree? I haven't seen this one. What happens in it?

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
Renato replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
Hey man, I offered to scan them a few months ago, but you never replied, so I never bothered to go ahead with it. Anyways, here are a couple of pages. I could scan the rest of the booklet later, but it's just characters bios and mecha listings, at least as far as I can tell. Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Maybe it's on another page..? Interesting how that sheet with all the different series on it is printed in colour, while another sheet with the exact same layout and info which comes with the PS VFX1 game is printed only in blue. -
That wasn't really her own song, that was a Mari Iijima song that, in the Macross universe, Minmay wrote on the Megaroad. Don't know if Mari ever recorded it though.

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
Renato replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
Tell us, oh wise one, what DID happen to the Megaroad? It became the Miniroad? Hehe. Yeah, you know, that black hole thing. Misa says, "Hey wonder what that is?" and they all die. Seriously now, SOMEBODY PLEASE scan the booklet for the SegaSaturn game so we can bury this beaten, dead horse. -
The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL

I don't doubt that TP animated the movie, but I don't see what this has to do with anything. Pixar animated all those nice CGI movies, yet Disney still basically owns them. DYRL was BigWest's project and to state otherwise is folly.* This statement is a tad inaccurate. BW/Studio Nue/MBS DID pay Tatsunoko Productions, and work started on the show. It wasn't until about the 3rd or 4th episode (IIRC), when TP said it was costing too much and they needed something more in order to continue. THAT is when TP was granted int'l distribution rights and certain merch rights as well. What did BigWest and the boys get for it? Some good work, true. Some really good work, yeah. But also A LOT of some of the crappiest animation and artwork for the time. Yeah, this statement is COMPLETELY wrong. The show was well into it's run, (maybe even over) by the time TP actually sold the Int'l rights to anyone. Stop messing with the new kid's heads. *p.s.- Never use the phrase "Here's the truth..." when listing facts. Truth is subjective to ones viewpoint, facts are solid information. Truth: Robotech Sucks. Fact: Robotech has caused a strong and varied reaction from anime fans over the years. Thanks, WhiteDrew: For the first couple of points, yeah, that's kind of what I wanted to say. I was just crap at expressing it. As for the last one, I don't think it's "completely" wrong. I was always under the impression that they used the money they got from the sale of the intl. rights to finish off the episodes, and/or reimburse their debts. But of course I can't remember where I read this, and no way I'm going back into the offiial HG debate thread while I'm still young.
