Official Transformers Alternators and more thread.
Renato replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Wow. I never thought I'd see Grimlock as a car. But check out the transformation. They've obviously tried to keep it similar to the original Grimlock, even though he transforms into a completely different thing. That's clever. I think I'm getting this one. So, my want-list so far -- Tracks Jazz Grimlock Screw the rest. -
I suppose the price is good for what you get. I got a chance to handle Prime and a few others, most are just some reissues of the jets they made during the G2 years, but Prime is a good poseable toy, with easy transformation. The truck mode looks a bit stupid, though. There's a special metallic-finish Prime which also comes with a DVD. Haven't seen Starscream yet, though. Is he out?

What VF-1S are you talking about? Which company, what year, what scale?
-
I don't get it. Banpresto can do it, so why can't Yamato?
-
I thought it was already decided that the next Takara reissue would be Hound? I just want a Wheeljack...

Wait. Is this the Alternator or Binaltech version? BTW. Is anyone else NOT going to pick up Dead End? Personally. I'm not gonna pick up any Destrons just yet......I'll just wait for these two beauties. I'm not getting Dead End. I'm not a completist, so I don't want to get many types of basically the same car. Besides, his face looks stupid. I'm fine with plain old Lambor. As for blue or yellow Tracks -- good point. It could be that the Binaltech is yellow and the Alternator is Blue... Damn. That'd be a problem... -
Has the Fire Bomber band ever play U.S. convention

I don't think I'll be reporting anything for a while... I was supposed to give a presentation today (my birthday, of all days) and all the damn Powerpoint file decided to go walkabout last night. So, like Fukuyama, my data is gone, and I have to reschedule for next week, which means that by now, when I should have sighed with cathartic relief, that feeling shall have to be postponed... Damn Powerpoint. As for the Bikini song, yeah, in the Acogi (Acoustic Guitar) Tour he did, there was a trio of songs with the "sadness/anger" theme, and this is how it went: Hachigatsu Muika Bikini no sora no kienai hi Galapagos Galapagos really was an awesome performance, with improvised, long guitar solos here and there (each time the lighting changes to pure red), almost nothing like the record. He's really good at that, I think he needs to do that a lot more in his shows. -
Yeah, I guess it looks a little chunkier in the show due to AnimeMagic . Hope the forthcoming Yamato toys look better. Hell, I hope they look as good. OK, I just hope they come out. OH MY GOD!! I've just realised -- Yamato are gonna mess the SV-51 up, aren't they, just like they screwed up the VF-0!! They're gonna make everything removable... nooo!! Dammit, I don't give a crap about the Zero, but the 51 NEEDS a good sculpt!!

Hey there, pal. Great to see you on the boards again, R. I got the mag when it first came out, so I'm not wanting to order it, but I'll tell you one thing that pissed me off -- there's a competition in there for all sorts of stuff, including a custom 1/48, Kawamori-autographed FAST pack sets, etc... I was gonna enter but I was so busy with stuff I TOTALLY forgot and I remembered on the very closing date!! Man, I never win at these things, but at least there would have been a minute chance.... Especially seeing as my friend won tickets to the Rock Odyssey concert featuring the Who, Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith, L'Arc-en-ciel, Love Psychedelico, etc... Argh!! I'd like to win something for a change!!

better pilot sure... but during the first engagement, it seems hikaru had a better sense of the battle at large, group tactics and strategies... also during the battle over the protoculutre city, max allows himself to get taken out of the conflict so he could dogfight miria... he just completely left his remaining wingman in the lurch... I think of max like jordan before his first retirement: genius, able to win games on his own but not of a team player. True, but also remember that Millia can squish whole Zentradi squadrons by herself, so Max keeping her busy one-on-one is no mean feat, plus he is really helping Hikaru out by doing so. Meanwhile Hikaru can concentrate on his own point-and-shoot activities (the rest of the Meltran battle suits seem pretty lame) without having to worry about the Millia menace. Jeez, look at all that crap I wrote. And all whilst keeping a straight face!

actually there was a gold one made, but I believe it was a like either a giveaway or a prize for winning. I forgot, but it's in my japanese transformers guide book. There was a gold one released in 1987 complete with a trophy-like stand and plaque. There's one on display in a shop near me but it isn't for sale, and good luck finding one of those!
-
I believe it's on the DYRL This Is Animation Special book. I can't remember too well, though, 'cos I can't find my copy, some git may have nicked it, so I've been wanting to get a new one for ages. Actually I'm going into town later so I might get it today. Cool! I was looking for the same thing. Can you post it when you get it? TNX! OK, I got it. But I don't have a scanner...
-
OK, slightly off-topic, but does anyone know if there is a webpage with all the scans of the files released so far with the Takara bookstyle reissue TFs? The binder comes with Prime, but you need to get all the damn reissues to fill it and I don't want to buy them all. Especially Skids.

Yay! Now THIS is what the 20th Anniversary DVD should have been. I can't wait for this. I love all those old ads and stuff..

It's a busy signal. And, that 13-second track just happens to be Fukuyama's favourite track on the album, strangely enough. Aso is credited as the drummer on it, but there aren't actually any drums 'cause that data was deleted from Fukuyama's computer. In the end he decided to leave them out as it sounds better without. -

So, wait, is it Tracks or Meister that's coming out first? -
I can't see the pictures Nanashi posted.

Macross 20th Aniiversary Premium Collection DVD
Renato replied to JLYC's topic in Movies and TV Series
It's an R2 release intended for the Japanese market. The R2 series releases are also for the Japanese market. What may be convenient for you, is not necessarily convenient for everyone else. I'm trying to look at it objectively. The people who spent a fortune on the series R2 releases have to spend even more to get something that could have been easily just spread over all the releases. That's just stupid. And guess what? R2 versions of SDF Mac series are apparently no longer in production anyway. Yay! Now the only way to get the original show is through Harmony Gold! Yippee! Macross just gets better all the time!!!! -

The people that care about the music. Seeing bloody Tomo Sakurai (along with freak-boy Hayashi) prancing around onstage being all squeaky and whatnot pretty much ruined the image of the VAs for me, and she's the reason that Mylene Sings Minmay album sucks so badly. I don't mean I've seen them live in person, I'm referring to the "Live special" thing shown in between episodes of M7. Oh, and it's Chie Kajiura. -
I have the bookstyle Prime but it doesn't come with a mousepad or insignia stickers, I think that was only in the New Year edition. Also, in terms of the toy itself, the New Year's Prime had "cup-holding" hands (it looks like he's holding cups in his fists), ehich makes it different from the original. Also the eyes are blue like the anime and the windows are not of that orangey shade. The bookstyle Prime on the other hand, has the cup-hands again but the colours seem to be back to "normal" (i.e. yellow eyes, etc).
-
I dunno... Minmay's got some meaty paws there. Also, why the hell is she holding a tatty piece of paper with scribbling on it? Anyone remember DYRL, when they actually bothered to write the lyrics on the piece of paper that Minmay holds? Man, looking at this kind of shoddy work just proves how even in this day and age DYRL is still amazing. CG my ass.

Macross 20th Aniiversary Premium Collection DVD

I wouldn't exactly say the DVD is worth the money seeing as those are all extras that should have been included on the actual overpriced movie and series DVDs in the first place. Money-grabbin' gits. -

Wait a second, whoah whoa..... When you say "Rik", you don't mean Rik Newman, do you?? Well, I suppose not, since it's seattle.. And hey, congratulations on the only fully-functional HB and Fukuyama site! Er, I just read this post now (tuesday) so I didn't manage to greet Fukuyama-san on your behalf, sorry, will do it next time. As for Japan, actually I haven't been here all that time, I just arrived here a few months ago. That time I was leaving for Tokyo and I stayed there for a year, then I had a year in Scotland, another year in London and now I'm in Osaka.
