  1. Holy crap, man. Is that what the toy actually looks like?? If the toy does actually have a metallic finish then my mind's made up, I'm getting the red one for sure. It's crimson. Man, that looks REALLY good. Meister Rocks. JAZZ ROCKS.
  2. Aha! I was also talking about the PS1 version, since that's the only one I've played. You get the Minmay Doll when you complete it on hard, and also depending on how many times you clock the game you also get given options, such as Movie-Only mode (watch all the FMV clips back-to-back) and Muteki Mode (Invincibility).
  3. What Japanese BBS? Yamato no longer runs one and the "Official Macross Homepage BBS" is full of people that complain that the Official Macross Homepage never gets any updates. Besides, it's not like a forum, where you have topics separated neatly. However, I did laugh at one post that read, "To see a Valkyrie with a mouth in M7 was a 'culture shock' to me..."
  4. They should have called this CGI Joe!!
  5. Oh, and sorry, Graham, but I won't be able to go to Tokyo during that time, I have a big exam on the 29th.
  6. Nobody knows for sure. All we know is that those extra Macross Plus & macross Zero mecha were originally listed on several Japanese and English sites, including the Compendium as being in the game prior to release, but the listings were removed shortly before the game was released. Also, there was a Bandai movie advertising the game which did show theose extra mecha. I've saved it and you can download it here. Be warned, it is 25.5MB. The YF-19, YF-21, VF-0S and SV-51 appear near the end. Graham Interesting. I did not know that. So, is the PS2 game worth getting? I can pick it up relatively cheaply second-hand. Only thing is, I don't have a PS2, though I could maybe use my girlfriend's brother's one...
  7. Did you get the dancing Minmay doll at the end?
  8. AND I'LL FORM THE HEAD.
  9. I got really pissed off with my original YF-21 because the shoulder sliders kept breaking. Even the replacement parts I got from Yamato (they were free back in the good ol' days) broke. I really hope they fixed these like they fixed the 11B's hips. Please tell me the FP version has shoulder sliders that will not snap. Actually, don't. 'Cos if that's true then I have to spend money on yet another Yamato Valkyrie. Actually, yeah, do tell me.
  10. Just to play the Devil's advocate for a moment..... Are you so certain that people who would support the Anti-UN are basically greedy and/or power hungry? Wouldnt there be people that would have a legitemate gripe with the centralization of power under a group that, as many of us know in RL, is full of morons and thugs? Wouldnt there be people that would have a legitemate worry that the UN created the ASS-1 as a hoax in order to run roughshod over people? Couldnt it be that there are people who are legitemately afraid of being on the recieving end of 'justice' by groups within the UN because of past grievances? If all the Anti-UN are painted as insane, criminal or power-mad thugs...that is just as dumb as the portrayal of the Anti-Unification League and Army of the Southern Cross in the Robotech novels (and newer comics...no thanks to that no-talent hack of a writer Jay Faerber). Its taking an overly simplistic and, in some cases, stupid view of how life works. Having the heads of the Anti-UN be some Snidely Whiplash-esque villains who twirl their mustachios and laugh maniacally would be a mistake of the first order. Agreed. I wish they got into a bit more detail like that in MZero. I still see the Anti-UN portrayed like these really evil bad guys. Even the original show didn't fall shy of showing the dark side of UN Spacy, such as Misa's father's blind faith in the Grand Cannon, to annihilate a great portion of the aliens BEFORE commencing peace talks, and of course the banishment of SDF-1 and its citizens from Earth. I like a show where it's not so easy to tell who the bad guys are, it's a little more realistic.
  11. It's both the underwater-scene song and ending themesong of ep-3. You mean that's not on OST vol.1? Oh, man. That's one of the few tracks I'm really taken with. Good thing I still haven't bothered with the first disc, then.
  12. Well, actually, that would be more like the difference between Linn Minmei and 'Rinn' Minmei. No, I am aware of the rules. I was referring to instances in the actual animation (both SDF and M7) where both have appeared. "Rinn Minmei" has never appeared, as far as I am aware. Again, I am not aware of "Megaload" officially appearing, though that particular romanisation is possible from looking at the kana, as you correctly point out. However, it is "Megaroad" and "Megalord" that we are dealing with here, since both have appeared in official sources. Granted, most of this could be explained through the "Japlish" theory, but there could be something more. Then again, maybe not, we may never know. Would you like a Humburger, Mr. Itchy-Joe?
  13. Yeah, I always wondered what the dolphins on the bridge were all about. They never explained that. Thanks, Nori. My take on the new series: Half of me wants to hate it because it looks ridiculous, like every other crappy anime series out at the moment, yet half of me is trying to remind me how many years ago I thought the same after seeing designs from Macross 7. Still, I don't see myself rushing out to see it the minute it comes out.
  14. I'd always wondered if Megaroad and Megalord aren't just equivalents of Linn Minmei and Lynn Minmay. In other words, there is no one true romanisation?

    Vf-17

Even if they don't hold a Macross 7 licence, they are obviously allowed to make PS Game VF-X toys. So, they could make the Ravens version of the 17 from there, and also the Jamming system-enabled red 17, too. In theory, that is. Though I am not sure how popular they think that design will be..
  16. Oh, man. Old skool Voltron kicks ass. I used to play with him whenever I went to my friend's house cos I never had one. Then one day, it was gone. I asked him what he'd done with it and he said he sold it. Bastard!! If he knew I liked it so much why didn't he sell/give it to MEEE??! ... Phew. Anyway, yeah, I prefer this guy over the Toynami. Voltron to me is all about nostalgia anyway.
  17. On second thoughts, Ravage should have been a motorcycle or something like that. Like a Harley.
  18. What was that about?? And what's with the "This item will not be released in the near future"?? Anyway, I don't care much for this... The Jaguar head looks stupid. If Ravage was gonna be a car, he should have been a JAGUAR!! Come to think of it, why not make a Trailblazer from Chevrolet's TRAILBLAZER?
  19. Yeah, but thirty years down the line they'll be monopolizing the planet with their computer software *ahem -- Bill Gates -- AHEM!*
  20. I think that's pretty much how they worded it in the instruction booklet.
  21. I don't want to tell you how to raise your child but you ought to be careful even with a 1/55. There are sharp points aplenty on that thing and the spring-loaded landing gear hurts even MY adult (open to debate) fingers sometimes. Plus the gunpod is the most powerful projectile toy I've ever seen. I used it for target practice a while back, and I swear, it blows Banprestos apart, even from a metre away! For me, it's the ultimate charm of the 1/55s, but I would not even give it to my brother, and he's 4 and a half. Certainly got to be extremely cautious with that.
  22. There are now 4 Smokescreens, NOT including the Silverstreak repaints. 2003 WRC versions of both Hirvonen and Solberg types, and 2004 of the same. I recently got the 2004 Solberg. Believe it or not, these actually fit into the ongoing "Binaltech Story". According to this, by using GT technology (can't remember what it stands for), they can upload Smokescreen's soul and memory into four different bodies at the same time, thus making him a more efficient fighting machine. Alas, the research is not yet complete and the system has not yet been tested in battle... Anyway, they could have just said they really want to milk the Impreza mold. No-one would argue. So if you include Streak, then yes, there ARE ALREADY 5 Subarus out.
  23. I agree it is not serious. This is because in 1984 there was no official continuity to speak of.
  24. Yeah, often in the preview of the next episode you'll get a character saying "Hi, this is so-and-so. I hope you're enjoying *insert anime here* Next week, such-and-such happens. Bye-bye." Remember the one in Cowboy Bebop where Ein speaks?
