  1. I don't think the 1/55s are bad at all, let alone "not so bad after all". They're pretty much my favourite toy ever. The firing gunpod is the icing on a very sweeeet cake.
  2. Mini-news. Gonzo is handling the animation for the Galaxy Force (to the rescue!) show. That is all.
  3. Yes. Hail to the chief, indeed. I'll watch it since there's nothin' on TV recently (joke) Oprah for President! No, wait, Optimus Prime for President!! Please let the best (or rather, "better") man win.
  4. ONLY in ePSXe. Well, I dunno. I got a friend to burn a CD full of different types of PS emulators and ePSXe was the only one the game would even load properly on. The others rendered the damn thing unplayable, or had a problem with recognising my joypad.. or SOMETHING. There's always something. Now I'm in Japan again but I didn't bring the games back with me, grrr...
  5. Nah it'll probably be a dubbed version of the original Macross series so they can milk that cow one more time lol They gotta pay for that new series somehow ... or more Macross superposables or changers.... hooray!! I've thought for a while now that they were hinting at having distribution rights to DYRL and releasing that soon. Don't know whether it'll happen or not, though.
  6. Shawn & Graham This is something that I thought of while I was posting on page 18 of the M0-5 Spoiler thread, as I wanted to know the opinion of Japanese fans on the release. I don't know if this idea has ever been thrown around before, but it occurred to me while I was looking at the rubbish Official Macross BBS that if those guys over there knew of and could actively participate in the MW community it would be a great contribution to the credibility and recognition of the site. Maybe. Actually, I'm really just thinking out loud, I do not expect it to be as active as the other forums. But it might be something worth considering.
  7. Hey there. I have been gone for four or five days or so and this page has grown way too much for me to trace the Protoculture topic, so I'm just gonna go onto something else for a while. I kept meaning to see what the Japanese fans thought of volume 5, and I just came back from looking at the Official Japanese BBS (yeah, that piece of crap... You'd think that at least in an official site they'd use a proper forum or something, but no..). Anyway, man, has that place changed or is it just me? Everyone is usually ridiculously polite to each other but at the moment there is constant bickering about something to do with the recent Niigata earthquakes, I dunno what was said since the original post has long since been deleted, but the bitching level is extraordinarily high for that kind of board. Apart from that, opinions on ZERO FIVE seem to be the same as over here-- some people love it, it's the best thing EVARR, and some people are going like "Was that it?? Huh." Many agree that the characters who died were not fleshed out enough in the run-up to the climax to care about, while other cried tears of happiness (apparently). Plus the odd "Wow, this is great, lots of Macross fans here. Really feels like the official homepage, huh". Well, that's all from Macross Land Japan. (I'll say it again, but that board SUCKS. The reason we have hardly any Japanese members here on MW is that few can be bothered to type in or read English. Long ago there were pleas from MW members for a Spanish forum. I don't see the point of that, but it might be an idea to open up a Japanese forum and see how that goes, bring some of those people over. I might post this in the suggestion forum. Realistically speaking, it may not work, but could be worth a try.)
  8. yeah huh...the island got bombed and we heard shin sing Oh yeah. See, I even forgot about that!! Thank you.
  9. space belongs to the ship with the better gun Aint that the truth! Besides, I dont have Satellite TV. I have cable. Isn't cable wired up to huge-as satellite TV stations? Even if you get cable TV the signal is still beaming down from space.
  10. I can't tell what happened in which episode anymore. And I don't remember episodes 2 and 3 at all. Not a very memorable series for me. 4 wasn't even an "episode" as far as I'm concerned. Nothing happened!!
  11. TF news -- The new issue of Figure Oh magazine has a feature on Transformers, in particular the new series, Galaxy Force (to the rescue!!). I don't particularly reccommend it, since it's not personally interesting, but some might be interested in the Kaiyoudo figure included, which is a silver repaint of the Optimus/Matrix bust figure. Why silver? It's made to look like the Radiation-resistant Prime at the end of The Return of Optimus Prime part II, the one with the Hate Plague. For nostalgia's sake, Best dialogue Prime- "Innocent lives are at stake!!" Rodimus- "No-one is innocent!!"
  12. It shouldn't come as any surprise that the Protodevlin (primarily, Glavil) and the AFOS resemble each other: they both have the same creator, Kawamori. both are humongous both are capable of flight both are nearly indestructible both are capable or projecting powerful bio-organic blasts of energy both are capable of interstellar travel both are capable of speech both are, apparently, immortal both are just plain freaky looking Actually not Kawamori, but Miyatake. By the way, did his Design Works book ever come out in the end, or was it just shelved?
  13. Okay how about this... Alternator Hound Gerwalk Mode. The best Gerwalk is of MP Prime of course if you make it stay in balance... Those pics of Blue Binaltech Tracks look more purpleish than blue, I guess that Takara just photoshop them instead of taking pictures again. I think Solscud photoshopped them himself, rather than Takara.
  14. Various spots. Can't remember where. I think Egan mentioned it once at a con, it was mentioned in a book, but I can't recall. The concept of M+ itself wasn't suppose to be part of the Macross franchise (this was in the planning stages of M+ ; pre-pre-pre-pre-production so it wasn't a last minute thing). The story concept, IIRC, was the same, 2 pilots, a girl, 2 prototype fighters, etc, etc, etc. Then Kawamori changed his mind (probably since it was the 10th anniversary of Macross) and made it part of the Macross franchise. MacPlus was originally part of the "Advanced Valkyrie" project. And if anything made Kawamori change his mind, it must have been Macross II.
  15. Who you gonna call? GHOST-BOOSTERS!!
  16. Except, thats right. Kenji Terada was hired as a consultant. Who's he? Mospeada Guy? Well, in that case, great. Maybe if they do end up making Mospeada 2, they'll dust off the original series from the shelf, too, like they did with Gunbuster. Except I hope Mop-2 doesn't turn out like Top-2. Hehe.
  17. Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but it'll be out soon, so.... Interesting thing about this is that it'll contain audio comentaries, which is rare for Japanese releases (I really don't think that the Japanese understand what DVDs are all about yet). Also included is "Session #0". All in all, I don't think the price is justified, (but then, I NEVER think that about anime) so I won't be getting it. But it's mainly because I'm taping the series off TV at the moment, and VHS is enough for me. Otherwise I might have considered it (and I was, until the repeats began last month). Also on the Bebop horizon is a new album -- the Best of CB -- due out in December, see here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=VICL-61543 Three new tracks included, from the recent PS2 game (when did this come out? Any good?). And also an "Extra Session" which could be a brand-new OVA (it could also be Session XX, but I doubt it), out in January. I'm keeping my eye on this one. Gotta fulfill my Watanabe thirst until Samurai Champloo returns!!
  18. Not necessarily. Like I mentioned in the OTHER shadow force thread -- YUKIKAZE!! Yay! Just re-cut and re-dub that. As for the re-edit as a Mospeada sequel.. I don't like the sounds of that. It'll be just like Macross II and Orguss II... Sequels where the original staff have little to no imput rarely succeed.
  19. Toy commercial??? I've never seen or heard of this before, so I'm pretty sure it isn't standard. Show, show!!
  20. Yeah, if you play it on an emulator, that boss doesn't appear, you just fly straight on forever. Pissed me off no end when I left Japan and took the game with me to the UK, then found out I couldn't play it. As for the Patlabor level, I always ran out of energy, or fuel or battery life or whatever it was, never got anywhere in that. OT -- What about Patlabor for the Gameboy, anybody played that? It's hard as nails, to use a cockney expression!!
  21. Well, I would consider buying it (if it was affordable). Oh, wait -- that would instantly make me a homosexual!! Golly!
  22. How can you decline your own offer? As for the books, yeah, me too. Too bad they don't sell them on their own. And they double up as calendars, too. In fact, are they even "books"??
  23. Interesting. And I think that IS Springer in the Japanese version..
  24. Look what else I found. http://www.tsubaci.com/ Nice, but way overpriced merchandise, though. And.... Someone requested manga..? http://champloo.project-eden.org/manga-scans.html The guy who made this page is acting all high and mighty about his precious scans, though, and even gone all the way to delete the text. It's not like he drew the damn thing himself.
  25. I think you overestimate the Japanese otaku. They will buy the DVD nonetheless, and hardly anybody in Japan looks at non-Japanese language homepages anyway. Actually, this is worth looking into...
