Ain't that the truth. One easy lesson in life, never believe anything a game store or comic store guy tells you Graham Yeah. But having said that, last time I talked to a comic/scifi/model shop guy about Macross (in 1999), he said to me Macross was dead, and that no-one cares about it anymore. So I said, yeah, you wait and see, 'cos Toycom is coming to save the day. Alas.

Ah, I forgot about the text in the corner. Armored Parts for 1/48 VF-1 Release: Yamato Price: TBA Spring 2005 Coloured ABS & die-cast 1/48 scale (duh) Design: Kichiyama Naoki (solid) Craft collaboration: FLEX

OK, I'm back. I just did the translation, too. It seems that there will be both a parts-only and a "coupled with 1J" set. Regarding Yamato's Macross line-up, last issue we brought you news of the 1/100 variable VF-0S. This issue we bring you a special newsflash concerning the perfect variable 1/48 scale VF-1 Valkyries. The Armored Valkyrie is finally here! That's right, here is the lineart illustrating the 1/48 VF-1 compatible Armored Parts. Similarly to the previously released Super Pack, these parts will be packaged on their own, allowing you to place them on the 1/48 Valkyries already on release. There is also news of a planned VF-1J set release, as featured in the movie. For the 1/48 Valkyrie owners, the standalone parts, for those who do not, take advantage of this opportunity, with the set version! More information on this Armored Valkyrie as we get it! Can't wait!

Thanks for the news Graham. I have to be somewhere five minutes ago, though, so I'll take a look at the text in detail later. I shall return!

Mari Iijima's voice is different from the anime
Renato replied to vistali1's topic in Movies and TV Series
At first I thought this was a post about Mylene Jenius sings Lynn Minmay, where I was going to give a stock reply about them actually being different singers. But you are asking something much simpler. I don't think any singer can have a voice which remains the same from the age of 20 into their 40s. Off the top of my head, Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, etc.... All their voices changed through time. People age. And in particular a singer's voice is put under so much strain everyday. When you hear Yoshiki Fukuyama sing the songs of Basara from Macross 7 (originally from over ten years ago) these days, they too sound different. That's life. I don't think there is no more "energy" anymore, though. It's likely still there, but in a different form. -
Also note that all the "Japanese" is just Katakana that anyone with a symbol guide can write. If it were official there would be kanji everywhere. It pisses me off that this Tommy is trying to pass this thing off as "official". Do not be fooled. As for why people are paying so much for the MPCs, beats me. I'm still amazed that a 1/48 can sell for as much as it does.

"Yamato" means "Japan", no wonder. FV And Dai Nippon means "Big Japan", so it's even less of a mystery why Yamato is ranked second!

Just to be really anal, the verb to collect or accumulate in this context is "hoard". "Horde" is the name of a tribe from Mongolia. And "hord" is not a word.

Remastered Cowboy Bebop with 5.1 DD audio
Renato replied to Drad's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
More "Cowbop" news. The content of the forthcoming items other than the Box set is slightly clearer now. The Extra Session will be an item similar to the Gunbuster Perfect guide, probably. It will be a DVD plus a "hardback book". The actual contents will feature interviews with staff and cast and story digests of each episode. Unfortunately, it's neither Session XX, nor a new episode. Release date is 28th of January. Personally I am looking forward to it, but it'll probably just be considered a "Meh" item for most people, much like the Gunbuster Perfect Guide. -

The RX-8 remodel I was thinking could be "Stepper" as a Binaltech, but I don't know what they would call him as an alternator. -

Yeah, that involves the three of us getting into our 1/1 scale Variable Fighters and going postal, while screaming "Listen to my song!" By the way. I uploaded the photos I took. -

That's a cool Devastator. But have a look at what I got in an email just now. It's BANAL TECH, baby! -
Has it been confirmed that Yamato will release a purple variant?
-
I see they have Thigh-Masters for Valkyries now.

You may have been confused by the little Beast Formers figures that Takara did in the late eighties to tie-in with the Headmasters. They were released overseas, I think they were called Battle Beasts or something like that, but anyway they didn't transform. -
The valks. I voted null vote by mistake, though. But the only "valk I had in the 80s was Jetfire. Then during the 90s (after finally getting my hands on a real 1/55 in the form of the Super VF-1S) I really started collecting the music of Macross -- Hane-Ken, Fukuyama and Yoko Kanno -- and I have most of the CDs now. So it was the Valks, then the show's music, for me.
-
Well, I made it together with the guy that used to host it (his "new" home page is here), so I still have the file on CD. I don't remember how big it is, though. I'll have to ask him if there is still an online version available. It used to be so that you could just type "Minmay Attacks" into google and it would come right up... And thanks for remembering it!

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
Renato replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hey there I just got a 1/55 reissue 1J and the headlasers are really loose, much like El Malufa's problem. Except I think the inside of a 1/55's head is different, they have springs and stuff inside, I believe. So I know I need to take apart the head. First I need to get another small screwdriver because I got mine confiscated at the airport last year. Anyway, my question is, what does the inside of the head of a 1/55 1J look like, so I know what to work with to fix the problem? Worst case scenario, I could just try the shimming thing... Thanks in advance. -
Hehehe. Yeah, I remember that episode in the TV show.....
-
I'm surprised...someone actually remembered. And I think I have the wallscroll of that pic.... I'm surprised everybody forgot.

I dunno. As good as Grimlock may look in robot mode (and I like it quite a lot), I don't care one bit for the Mustang design. I wish he transformed into a different car... Come to think of it, I want to see more BT/Alt kitbashes! -
Aw, I thought this was news of a green Yamato release. That's just an assembled model kit. It isn't a Yamato toy.
