  1. Hey, it looks like they changed the colour at the last minute to be more accurate to the game. Was that why it was delayed? I wouldn't have minded the green.
  2. Hey, I've never seen that image before. Where is it from? Some rare Animage giveaway poster or something?
  3. Where from? The reissues were E-hobby specials, right? I thought they sold out? Gotta love the old school tapes. Even more now that Soundblaster is gonna get a reissue.
  4. What about this one? Does it count? http://www.microforever.com/MC08&MC09.htm I remember having both of these. They're long gone now, though.
  5. Check it out! Roadrocket is back as part of the Robot Masters line! Now you don't have to scour Ebay for him. http://www.takaratoys.co.jp/robotmasters/item/rm18.html Do you think Takara was listening?
  6. Takara is on a (transform and) roll (out): Blue Tracks BT, Grimlock BT, Swindle BT and Predaking are all out in the shops NOW! I bought a VictoryLeo Robot Masters set for my 4 year-old brother. As for the lack of styrofoam in Predaking -- it can't be helped. Japanese companies have to conform to certain standards regarding the usage of reclyclable materials.
  7. A Canadian ad for a Nokia phone featuring MP Prime. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/thread63072.html
  8. That's nothing special. Mikimoto has several exhibits and signings each year, some with Broccoli and Art Jeuness. Also the prints are on the cheap side, some of his stuff usually sells for closer to $900. The US branch of Art Vivant had a brochure from a few years ago with $1000-1200 price ranges. The DYRL Minmay is his latest print I believe. I think the figure's nice but it's sort of bland otherwise. Here is a link to buy the calendar. I'm not certain if the reservation window has expired or not. It's been up a couple of months now. I saw a Mikimoto art exhibition in Ikebukuro back in early 2002 when I was an exchange student there. Original art for sale etc. I bought a nice postcard set for around a few hundred yen. Yeah, I was there too! I got his autograph that time. All thanks to a really cool assistant who shiftily handed me a ticket (you can't line up for an autograph without a ticket at these things).
  9. Hey there, I'm going to be in Florida around an area called "Weston", if there are any MWers around, it would be nice to meet up. Actually, some of you may know I am conducting some research with Osaka University regarding Japanese Popular Culture, and as this is my first time in the US in a long time, I was thinking of taking advantage of this by speaking to some overseas fans of anime, manga etc.. So if any of you in the area don't mind being interviewed for a few minutes or showing me some specialist shops, then don't hesitate to get in touch. You can PM me and I'll give you my email or whatever. I am arriving on Friday (10th) and I will be there until the Sunday of the following week (19th). I don't know my own schedule so far, though, so I am sorry but I will have to make things up as I go along as far as meeting dates and times, etc. Regards Renato
  10. Well, that's news to me! It's more of a romantic thing, for couples. More like Valentine's Day.
  11. This thing about the knees is something which has bothered me ever since I looked at the lineart for the first time. On the design, the legs do not seem to bend backwards at the knees. This design aspect appears to have been carried over to the toy design. Perhaps they do bend back, I hope so, but this may be a forward-bend deal only, like the Bandai VF-17 (which is weird anyway, because the lineart shows that it does not bend its legs forward like most Gerwalks, yet the toy legs can ONLY bend this way). Lastly, yes, I too want die-cast. But recent Yamato toys have disappointed me in this area, and I do not have high hopes for this one. I will get it anyway, though, since I've wanted this toy for years now.
  12. Two (and a half) words: Aliens vs. Predator. And even Robotech worked.
  13. Interesting trivia I heard recently about the movies (can't remember where though)... Mamoru Oshii at the time kept getting sent razor blades hidden in envelopes from die-hard Urusei Yatsura fanboys because they claimed his interpretation of the characters and the show, to paraphrase, "raped their childhood". Huh.

    Dropping a deuce

I actually DID do that. I was five or six, and it was a Jetfire gun. Jetfire was my favourite toy and I would take him everywhere. Luckily that particular incident had a happy ending since I hadn't actually... erm... "done" anything at that point. Still, enourmous amounts of soap and disinfectant etc. went on the gunpod. From then on I was very careful..
  15. There are fourteen volumes, I believe. Or was it thirteen? I forget. Anyway, I don't particularly care for the DVD art, I prefer the cover art for the original LD and VHS releases. Funnily enough, these are shown on the BACK of the DVDs, below the blurb, in slighty "tainted" form. The best artwork is that of the LD Box Fire set. Mikimoto, of course, is the only way to go.

    Yamato 1/48 GBP Pic

Of course! ....hey ...... Hehe. I read your post BEFORE you decided to edit it. The penny dropped, eh?
  17. Old news. New news, actually. The timeslots weren't released until a coule of days ago.
  18. News -- the schedule for the second series (ep. 18 onwards) of Samploo has been decided... And it's satellite only. It's now a Saturday morning 'toon. Saturday 22nd January 10am, BS Fuji. I knew it was too good to hope for a terrestrial broadcast.

    Minmay Attacks

The NES one can't be as bad as the Mac 7 Gameboy game... I remember playing the rom of that. I own the damn cartridge of the GBC one, so the joke's on me. Hehe. Let's put it this way -- at least the GBC version had a point.

    Minmay Attacks

If it's pain you're after, then screw this, just get them to actually play the damn game (the NES one. Oh, go on, the GBC one too). I remain in faith. God shall judge those programmers.
  21. Mari has a child? She has two boys... But I'm guessing they're in their teens by now. Man, time flies. Imagine being an adolescent and having Mari as your mother. Actually, don't.

    Minmay Attacks

No idea what that means, but glad you liked it!
  23. What's Anime Insider? Anyway, seems like it's been pushed back to Spring, then. Damn. There's nothing good on TV these days. Bring back Samploo already!!

    Minmay Attacks

OK, I found the CD. I had a page on geocities ages ago which I forgot about, so I just uploaded it there. Here is the link. Minmay Attacks... AGAIN!! Hmm. It looks like some computers play back the flash file differently. The sides of the screen are wider, so some stuff looks strange, like the stars continue scrolling off the main frame. Hmm... Please resize your viewing window to a fairly small size, and keep the shape fairly square. Hey, we ain't pros, y'know! Anyway, enjoy!
