TF Movie news: Michael Bay to direct?? http://www.iesb.net/movies2/michaelbayint.php

OK, I was surfing for more info on this thing and I also found out about a new peripheral that came out a few months ago called the "Play Yan" made by Nintendo and Panasonic, which lets you watch movies and listen to MP3s on the GBA SP and DS. According to Nintendo's site here, it is not compatible with the normal GBA (however, some sites like Gamespot, I think, claim that it IS in fact compatible with the GBA, as well as the GC's Game Boy Player). The thing that's got me thinking at the moment is whether or not this Game Boy Micro will be compatible with the Play Yan, or not. If so, I'm totally sold. I've been meaning to get my hands on that Super Robot Wars game with Macross in it for a while, and now I can have it along with a cool mp3/video player, all in one package. Battery life is a concern, though.

If it does, I might get it. This thread right here is the first I've heard of it, though, so I'm gonna find out a bit more about it first (Like when it's coming out!).

Just saw the end... Good stuff. OK, if I have to pick between a Samurai Champloo movie Or a Macross Zero movie, it's gotta be Samploo every time. Hopefully we'll get more, like the Cowboy Bebop movie, after a while. However, Watanabe says he's doing directing a live-action thing next. Also, Samploo isn't a Bandai Visual thing, which kind of makes me feel uneasy about any future prospects for the franchise...

damn dood, 50-70% off! you never see that on anime toys here. Damn right! I've never seen any anime store go that low, even when closing for business. Sigh. Whoa! Volks is always so expensive! Man. Wish I'd known sooner.

"Cocaine" is. "Cocain" isn't.
-
Yeah. Also, I noted that it also says this is the FINAL variation of the 1/48 VF-1A. I really hope this is a Low Vis type deal and not just limited to the Hobby Show, but all signs point otherwise...
-
That's my all time favourite from Engrish.com. Notice the track listing. "Cocain", anybody?

There's one in Terminator 2. A black one, though. Gets smashed up. And I saw Hybrid Convoy Thing in its box today. Wasn't very impressed...

Best (new) Anime Series You´ve seen lately
Renato replied to Aegis!'s topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks for the pics. Now I know what it was I saw the other night. I thought it was kind of silly, though I liked the animation. And I'm still working my way through Samurai Champloo. It's one of those series that non-anime fans can also enjoy which is why I like it, as does my girlfriend. I don't like most of the new anime because of this tendency to go for only the niche market. The wider the target audience, the better the product. -
Looking For Super Spacefortress Macross
Renato replied to neonboy619's topic in Movies and TV Series
Confusingly enough, the UK video release of "Clash of the Bionoids" by Kiseki in the 90s IS the SuperSpacefortress dub. It ISN'T CotB because it is not cropped or cut in any way, but it is still dubbed. So you can just get that. If you want a non-PAL version, though, you'll have to track down the Japanese VHS or Laserdisc. It's out there somewhere but it's really rare. In fact, I saw it in a video rental store in Osaka, but never in any second hand shops or anything. -
Nah, he did them himself from those gumball toys. Although I would love to one day try making my own Valk Choro-Q!

Scale issues aside, please compare the TV and movie lineart for the SDF-1, I think you'll find they're pretty much two entirely different ships.

Check this out. This is an official envelope I received a couple of months ago from Kyoto University, apparently the 20th best ranking university in the world, and second best in Japan (after Tokyo). I took it with my phone, so if it's too small to see, it reads, "GURADUATE SCHOOL OF LETTERS". I gave them a piece of my mind about that one. They still didn't seem to give a crap, though.

Wow. How'd I miss this thread? Well, I listen to all sorts of music, Jazz, soul, blues, the like. My main love is British rock/blues from the 60s to the 70s. My favourite bands are always changing. However, the records that are always going round at my place are Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Clash, Jimi Hendrix, blah. There's just too many to list. It's be easier if I just listed my most recent CD buys. Jet: Get Born The Who: My Generation Deluxe Edition (overflowing with bonus tracks!!) Free: Fire and Water Deep Purple: Greatest Hits (Something about Deep Purple that makes me lose their albums all the time. This is the latest buy.. I wonder how long it lasts till it too disappears..) Eric Clapton: Greatest Hits (the one released in 1982, so kinda pointless. As above, I already pretty much had all the damn songs on this CD, but they're back in the UK. Plus I can't refuse at the price of Y500.) Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive x2 (Again, same deal. Except this time, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I bought two versions of the same bloody album in two consecutive days!! I now own three different versions. Gave one to my girlfriend. Bob Mayo RIP.) I spent a lot of money travelling and stuff recently though, so the next purchase will probably just be Fukuyama Fire, the Nekki Basara Tribute album. Although I was planning on getting a DVD of The Kinks and the new Sessions For Robert J by Eric Clapton. Maybe I'm just doomed to forever buy the same albums over and over again.

Not sure exactly, but I know I don't like what it could mean... Otherwise, great news! But no money...

Yeah, flying combat mecha with a guitar makes WAY more sense. It's not a combat mecha. Ah.. Thanks for catching that.. I meant to say "Emitter or lameness" Mecha. Looks like you meant to say "Emitter of Lameness" Mecha. Dear, oh, dear.

Yeah, those were good times. Bariaburu Faita and Samurai Monkey, or anyone in the Hankyu Railway area may be interested in the "Eureka Seven Stamp Rally" that's going on for another couple of weeks or so (you may have seen the posters on the train). You can win a PSP. And a sticker. Yay. Hell, if you need to come all the way to Katsura to get one, I'll even meet you there since I just moved to Kyoto. I'm in Tokyo at the moment, though, so it'll have to be next week.
-
The fourth episode of Macross in particular is one of my favourites because it showed that the show wasn't just about space battles. Oh, and I've just moved from Osaka to Kyoto where they don't seem to be showing Aquarion, so I won't be able to see any more. Unless I rent them when the DVDs come out, so I'll be relying more on people's opinions on this thread...

Well if there isn't a five-year wait's worth of content in this book I will be very angry. Actually, I'm always angry these days. Someone tell me a joke. A good one.
-
Not sure if you mean the characters or the mecha. They both blow, though.

Out of curiosity, what were these things? Protagonist being somewhat special is a standard feature in anime. FV I kind of agree with Chronos here (though I feel the Pokemon comparison is going a bit overboard). Just because something is a "standard feature" in anime doesn't mean we have to like it. In fact, it's most of these cliches that has put me well off anime these days. Back in the eighties I was a kid and didn't care, but while I would have loved this show had it come out fifteen years ago or so, I am not in the same state of mind as I was back then. I certainly expected more from Kawamori, who threw the rulebook out when he gave us Macross, but these days praises from the Anime Cheese Bible.

Actually, they've had non-variable gashapon figures out for a while now. I have the blue robot.
