1. Yeah, I was chuckling at that in the bookstore. All the while making sure the people around me didn't think I was some gay doll fetishist, that is.
2. Nice. I hope ours will look that good when it's done. 324585 Well the one that is posted isn't really in the style of the Early 20th Century artists. It looks like someone just used markers to make it look "cool." I'm more excited to see this one which would be more authentic 324598 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...
3. I thought it said "spring"? Anyway, there are more photos in the new Figure Oh...
4. 323589 I meant for the translation . What did you think ? 323595 I thought you were referring to me as Japanese.... were you?? Anyway, you're welcome.
5. Figures!! At last. But they're not poseable.... http://www.yamatotoysusa.com/YUS%20Web/Pag...roduct_Page.htm http://www.yamato-toys.com/items/photos.php?gid=771

VF-X & VF-X2

I know, I tried this a million times. I dunno if I got a messed-up version of the game but this never, ever worked for me. I changed it on the options menu, and when I went into the game I still only had the other two view options...
7. When TRU do reductions, they do reductions. I got a 1/48 Millia for Y7000 once.
8. I thought I recognised that art style.... The Kup/Wheelie box art is by Yukio Ohshima. He is the guy that designed all those Kaiyodo TF figures a while back. I think he's a really big TF fan, he did a number of illustrations in the TF special issue of Figure Oh and he built a 2-metre tall Optimus. He also does lolicon-type figures. Damn paedophile... At least there is no danger of purchase inciting this time.... It's crap both on the box and in the box.
9. Thanks for the info, Graham! This is looking sweeeet... OK, translations... I'm gonna go through Graham's pics left to right. 1) The FAST pack attachment is done through magnets. The innards of the vector nozzles, as you can see in this photo, are molded very realistically. 2) Like on the 1/48 gunpod, the Gatling Pod standard weapon features a storable clip and can be extended/collapsed. 3) Main Text Perfect Transformation VF-0 -- Completed prototype!! To all the Macross fans excited by last issue's news of the 1/60 VF-0, thank you for your patience! This month, witness the prompt arrival of the prototype! This is the prototype displayed at the recently opened Tokyo Toy Show. Didn't you want to see it in more detail at the time? Well, in answer to those pleas, let's take a look at the basic gimmicks and details that feature, at least in Fighter mode. Caption 1 According to the stats, the VF-0 is 18.69m in length, so at 1/60 scale it averages to 312mm. Since the VF-1 is 14.23m, at 1/48 it is about 296mm, so even at 1/60 the VF-0 is quite large. Add to that the extra feeling of volume and you get a very powerful fighter. [Text is very small so I am half-guessing some of this.] Caption 2 Since it was supposed to be a fully-transformable protoype fighter developed before the VF-1 series, things like the conformal tank on top of the fighter, etc., make this reproduction of the VF-0's design even more realistic than the VF-1. Caption 3 It appears the transformation system will be similar to that of the 1/48 VF-1. Since the VF-0 is designed in 3DCGI in the Macross Zero OVA, there should be no problem recreating the various Fighter, GERWALK and Battroid modes even closer to the anime than with the VF-1, regardless of the transformation system. 4) Interior of the engine nacelles. The covers can be opened and closed and stored in the main leg, but the base is very simple. Near the top of the base a gap is visible, but there will be extra parts to remedy this. 5) The S type head shows how well it is done, as the chin (?) part is hiding. Since it is for atmospheric flight, the intakes are opened as standard. However, the covers can be snugly attached. But don't play near water. 6) Blah! 7) The canopy is rendered on a double hinge, so it slides and then opens. The pilot in the seat is also realistically molded. Plus, just like the anime, there is also a rotating cockpit gimmick in Battroid mode. As armament, there are sets of three missiles under the wings. Each missile can be detached from the pylon. My comments: Good stuff. If so much work is going into this, there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that we will see the A, B, etc. types in various schemes. And 90% chance that Shin's D will appear. EDIT -- I added colour. Wahey!
10. At this precise moment I like the SV-51 the best. But if this poll was about all-time faves then I would take the Strike VF-1S. That thing is a work of art.
11. Definitely Fujiko Mine.
12. White Reminiscences and the other Minmay "lost episode" script, Dreaming Prelude, should be available via Seiichi. They're not that rare at all. The Minmay book -- in teleplay format -- is quite interesting to see how it all ties up with the TV show, e.g. she mentions in the series that the Mayor entered her into the Miss Macross contest, well, here it is explained exactly what happened. The Misa book, meanwhile, is just a novel which I found kinda boring. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/series_white.htm http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/series_dreamy.htm
13. OK, when I say mainstream, I'm really just talking about brand recognition. Everybody knows what Gundam is, but it's really only kids and otaku that know about Seed Destiny. As for Macross, it's just otaku that remember it. However one of Takara's plans for the TF franchise recently has been to push it way into the public eye so that even non-fans could see what it was. They did this by having loads of these little convenience-store figure items, loads of different TF lines, the RX-8 event, etc. I'm just worried that that plan might be scrapped.
14. VF-X1 from the old boards DOES indeed drive such a car. Not an Avalanche, though.

VF-X & VF-X2

Yeah, it's been ages since I've played it, but it's all great... There should've been more cut-scenes though, it was mostly just still frames. On the 20th Anniversary DVD you get the pre-climax scene, complete with the Jamming-system equipped Macross 13. I love the bit where all the missiles explode around it, giving it an evil, flaming halo. Now THAT would make a killer desktop wallpaper. Anybody....?
16. I read the title of the thread and I thought it meant someone had customised a Yamato (the VFX2 Excalibur). Then I saw the first pic and thought "Bah, he's only doing it on a Bandai Fire Valk, who cares, no-one's gonna miss that.." But then I looked closer...... And it's an Emerald Force valk. Jeez... What a waste. Even if it was a bootleg. .....Actually now that I look closer... It IS a bootleg. The wings. Plus, the "G1 Jetfire" is also no more than a classic "five-buck bootleg".
17. That is true and is the result of that damn formal/informal indirection that japanese uses in their way of talking. However, the way Minmay uses nii-san in DYRL was the more formal/respectful form, so therefore she would've directly mentioned itoko as well as a follow-thru to make it clear that Kaifun was indeed a cousin instead of older-brother which the nii-san usually connotes. Oh, well. 319193 As soon as I read Nhyone's reply to my post I went and checked the DYRL TIAS. Sure enough, in the character profiles section, Kaifun is clearly described as Minmay's brother. They DID change their relationship for the movie. Now THAT, I never knew.
18. Er... Is this a joke? That is the STUPIDEST company name ever. As for the TF merchandise, I admit that I have no interest in 95% of it, but still, I like to see TF becoming mainstream again. I have this hope that one day it will reach Gundam levels of recognition in Japan. 318860 I`m just guessing 318960 Well, thank the Lord for that. Still not sure if this is good or bad news concerning the TF franchise, though. Need more updates!
19. Yoshi did. But he's long retired from the otaku lifestyle as I said on the "Where are they now?" thread. Shame, 'cause he had pretty much the wildest humour on the boards.

21. That's a good one. Close-up of two main characters.
22. Myth: Kaifun is Minmay's brother. Source: DYRL never explains he is her cousin, yet contains at least two instances of him being referred to as "brother" by Minmay. The explanation is only ever given in SDF Macross, I believe.
23. Ahh, yesss. Sound Booster -equipped. Forgot all about that episode.
24. You know, it's weird. I pretty much grew up believing that I had seen that non-existant footage somewhere, and I was gobsmacked when I saw the series after a very long time and there was nothing.
