The penultimate episode was shown last night, so it's time for some SPOILERS Bear in mind I have missed a lot of episodes in between #14 and #20 or so. OK, the Mass-produced Aquarions kick ARSE. And they also seem to transform to crab-type things with cannons on the back which remind me of those guys in Patlabor, can't remember their name... One of them is controlled by Glen, the guy who was in a coma for most of the series after the first episode, but apparently he hadn't fully awoken yet so he did not recognise Reika, however by the time he did, it was time for his showdown with that horned baddie. Cue Guld Goa Bowman style death. More surprising is the battle between Sirius (in the Aquarion combined with the Cherubim) and Apollo in Solar Aquarion, as Sylvia watches on... Very Mac Plus here. After a lot of crap, the main baddie dude controls the Cherubim's arm to get it to stab itself, apparently killing Sirius. To be continued!! Spoilers OVER. All in all the whole thing is a party mix of Escaflowne, Macross Zero and Macross Plus. Not the best show, but certainly the best out there at the moment, bar none. Big finale is next week!

There are loads of pics out actually... Some of the best are in Figure Oh magazine, they've got the thing doing high kicks and everything. You could try pestering Graham or somebody to get the scans, but I'm sure they're up on the net somewhere...

Erm.. they are already on the 20th Anniv. DVD.

VR-052L BERTLEY RIDE-ARMOR
Renato replied to yui1107's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think I've seen Yui's customs before (she's posted several times in the past), and they've always been awesome. Roy, you can probably consider that warning unheeded, though, unless you write in in Japanese. -
Any MWers in the London area?
Renato replied to bigkid24's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
If you had asked a cuople of years earlier I would've been able to help you out, as I was living in Twickenham, just up the road (pretty much literally) from Shepperton back then. -
I went to Rob's shop yesterday and he showed me the Isamu sculpt. I had a long train ride back home so I stopped at a shop which had them in stock and I got one -- luckily I scored the Isamu. Only the Minmay and perhaps the chase Max interest me now. Isamu's face doesn't really look much like him, in my opinion, though. And I think the white parts should be a bit more silvery, or am I mistaken? In particular the backpack.

Yeah, Octos would definitely rock!!

Why do I think if Yamato were to come out with a SV-51, they will stuff it up? 327955 If they get someone like Nishikawa (the guy who designed the 1/48) to do the sculpt, everything should be good and dandy. I've got confidence that they won't screw up the SV-51. But do you realize that a 1/60 SV-51 is going to be huge. I've got the Hasegawa 1/72 SV-51 and VF-0S and the SV-51 absolutely dwarfs the VF-0. Graham 328932 In my view, if they can pull off the Koenig with minimal complaints, then I can trust them with a 51. Price-wise, though... Nnnng... I really DID NOT like the news of just the 1/48 GBP parts costing more than an actual Valkyrie, and thus I am not looking forward to the price announcement of the Zero... let alone a 51.

I have both the movie and the series on video, it is definitely a well-made film in terms of artwork and music, but it should have been a lot longer, since the characters are not nearly as fleshed out as they should have been, with everyone but Vahn and Hitomi just making cameos, pretty much. I love that they made it totally different to the series, I just don't like that they didn't have the story or the substance to back it up. The ONE mecha fight is awesome, but there is no real climax and the movie just randomly ends at around the 80-minute point. DYRL definitely handled things a LOT better. I know that there is physically no time to re-tell all the character's backgrounds in one movie, but it was the characters that drew me into the original show in the first place... Anyway, my bottom line on it is -- "a must-see let-down". Watch it, but for the right reasons.

Double post, sorry

If I recall correctly the other Aquarions in the show were kind of low-viz. Anyway, they weren't all primary-coloury. Wonder who will make a custom...?

OK, just saw the last 6 minutes or so of episode 20-something. Blame it all on stupid scheduling, I've missed tons of episodes and dunno what the hell is going on. Anyway. It's gotten really cool, cos now there's TONS of Vectors, and the other Aquarions look kickass.

That was an official Japanese release. It's "Super Spacefortress Macross". The dub was most likely done by Toho themselves, as most of the voices sound familiar from the dub cast of Godzilla movies.

I think it's only been in both PS VF-X games. Never in anime. I highly doubt it will get made as a toy, we'd see the VF-4 or the VF-5000 at least before we see that thing.

Macross II just model kits only VF-2SS. This being the toy section maybe this isn't worth mentioning but there are more Macross II model kits out there then just the VF-2SS. B-Club has done the VF-2JA (both Battroid and Fighter), the Gilgamesh, and the Metal Siren. Have a look here: http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/b-club/b-club.htm Also if you get the Musasiya VF-2SS, it comes with 3 Zentradi pods. It's been a while since I've watched Macross II so I'm not sure what the "Red alien mecha" is you are refering to at the moment. Carl Thanks! The red alien mecha I was talking about was the "Gilgamesh" mecha. Nice to see that they at least made a model of it cause when I was searching I didnt come across anything Macross II related. 304833 Never actually seen the Gilgamesh built, though. Would be nice...

Does anyone have a definite answer on this? 324607 The thing is, the very first bit of info officially released in the mags about the GBP was that it was due to come in both stand-alone packages and in a bundle pack. However, that was never repeated.

SPOILERS!! It was the combined spiritia of all the people in the crowd outside, who were waiting for Basara to come out already, get in the valk and show everyone how it's done. Sivil, instead of absorbing spiritia, tried to create it and then discharge it. So her spiritia combined with Basara's "got through" to Gepelnitch in a way, but actually it was more to do with Gepelnitch seeing and finally realising what they were trying to do. Gep then coined the phrase "Spiritia Creation!!" He never actually "decides" this. That is what his body does, apparently. Even s/he was surprised at what was happening, as it was ruining his farm project thing.

He has the right to know. 326634 Wha--?? It's not as if anyone is witholding information.

I'll get the S and the D if it comes out. I really just want an SV-51, though.

I got my Blazer and Fire Valk around 1996 or 97, I think. Anyway, not too long after they first came out. Unfortunately, the Bloody Blazer turned out to be a bootleg, with the crappy stickers and the wrong wings, canards, etc. Fortunately, the craftsmanship was identical to the Bandais and so I didn't really mind so much. I still hate Bandai for not bothering to reissue it, or even to make VF-11Cs, Elgerzorenes and stuff in the first place. So much mecha in M7 and only two molds of toy. That's pathetic. So, what do people think of the Limited Edition chrome-plated versions?

But I haven't bought anything in months!! Oh, man, the chogokin Aquarion is gonna come out first, and I'll probably end up getting that against my will, leaving me with no money for GBP stuff. Hmm...

OK. It's September. Where is this thing... I haven't seen it in any mags recently...
