Now that just sounds like Back to the Future on crack. Hee hee. I remember that one. There was also the line he said to that girl that went like "Whaddya waitin' for?! Go now before I throw you down on the ground and rape you!" Unlike Focker, I can actually believe him meaning it!
-
I bought it around the same time (Manga release, yeah?) and I thought the same thing about Manning/Focker!! I didn't like the show too much except for the last two episodes. I had been wanting to see the original ever since and recently I finally got the chance. I now dislike the sequel even more as a result, though. And as I've mentioned time and again, I have been looking for an OST of the TV show forever... Anyone have MP3s of the songs? Orguss rocks.

!!! I never knew they made a Dal!! I neeeeed!! Does it "transform" (retract, whatever)??
-
A member here made that. It first appeared in the original GBP News thread, later as the main image on the MW main page. Can't remember who made it though....

Oh, Mr. Cage, don't be so modest..! Damn, I was gonna put up some photos but I don't have them right now, so you've saved yourself for now. Next time!

It's OK being a newbie, but I think people would rather these questions be asked in the pinned "Newbie Thread" at the top of the board. Otherwise the whole place gets crowded up with the same questions over and over. Welcome to MW.

Nah, that's about the Hasegawas.

Graham, Thanks for the pics. A friend told me there are more in the new Figure Oh, which has a "lime-green" cover... I haven't seen the issue yet, though, and I am not sure if the pics differ all that much from the other mags this month.

There is no Orguss 02. La-la-lah, not listening. To be honest, I didn't think it was as bad as Macross II in that it wasn't a rehash sequel. The idea of having relics from another dimension which are more technologically advanced is cool and works BECAUSE it is Orguss. But the characters are stupid, why does that girl have super powers and it only really gets quite good in the last two episodes. Tai never got any love from the characters in the original except for Mohme, though, so it's good to see him back. Even if he looks nothing like himself.

The Stealth bundle pack is labelled "Super Valkyrie" which could mean no Strike cannon... but then that would go contrary to the earlier WF pics we were shown.

I would've thought it would spoil the surprise... and you'd still go "WTF??!"
-
Yeah, I think that is supposed to show that any outcome is now possible, which is how the world should be. I think one of those scenes which flashed up at the end was Mimsy as a human, running with Kei. Don't remember seeing Kei with tentacles...

The daitokuiten is a point which orbits the earth. Meanwhile, the ruins of the Space Island, a disused space station, were still orbiting the Earth at the time, and in one of the last few episodes their orbit path was discovered to be -- as you said -- coincidentally on a collission trajectory with the daitokuiten. The actual details here aren't important, the role this plays in terms of plotting is merely to add a "clock countdown" to further complicate Kei and Olson's predicament -- in Hollywood, you would have like a self-destruct mechanism or something where the hero has one hour to save the universe or something. Same thing here. In the final couple of episodes some debris was found which was hoped would slow down the velocity of the Space Station and thus miss the intercept point with the daitokuiten (obviously on a differently shaped orbit). However, the final episode showed that this had no effect and so Kei and gang had one hour to get up the elevator and get the Dimensional Conversion Device (what Keith calls the "Time Machine") into the daitokuiten before all hell breaks loose. Time to watch that "Tokuiten" episode again, I think... Looks like there are a few answers lurking in that one..

Then is it just the same 'hey, its foriegn, and thus cool' mentality over there, the same that many people in the west have for Japanese versions of toys they have locally? 372624 I don't think so.. More like "hey, it's foreign, thus tarnished with the barbarity of those uncultured gaijin." Actually, I really don't think they care for the most part what goes on outside, but having said that, Alternator Decepticharge is going for a lot in second-hand shops here because it's "rare" (no BT was released). Therefore, it would be interesting to see what's gonna happen with Mirage: at least with that one I am sure Japanese fans will be gladly paying a lot to get an Alt version in their hands if indeed no BT arrives.

Just saw the final episode again today and I still am not 100% convinced that Kei and Olson actually went back in time. It seems to me that that particular moment (just before the Space-Time Oscillation Bomb was activated) was recorded inside the Daitokuiten. Notice how "past" Kei and Olson's Bronco IIs materialise out of nowhere. Half of me was concentrating on my toasted baguette so I will do more research. Not sure how Athena and Mimsy ever thought they were gonna get back, though. From the looks of things they're just left stuck at the top of the Orbital Elevator. Although I guess if the dimensions were restored it wouldn't matter, and if in fact the Space Island crashing into the daitokuiten did have the disastrous consequences predicted, they'd all be dead anyway. Anyway, damn good show. Funny how you have to put a lot of thinking work into trying to interpret a happy ending for these guys though!
-
True. I have a question. What version are you guys watching? HK subs? How do they translate "tokuiten" (the term given to Kei and Olson)?
-
Again, how do we know this? When I have time in the next couple of weeks I'll gather all the information I have about what the hell happened there so we can think this through properly. That includes going through the Orguss sourcebooks, Animage etc.
-
Since we never see anyone die, I think it is just as fair to say that depending on who killed whom, the different "endings" that we see flashed up on the screen are all plausible. E.g., if the Kei who travelled back in time shot the slightly younger Kei, he would end up with Mimsy. If the younger Kei shot the older Kei, he would end up with Tina.

Double post, sorry.

Well, cost is a major factor. Even with the comparitively high income of the japanese workforce (to go with a high cost of living), Binaltechs are expensive luxury collector toys that are released at a rapid pace.372112 Since the Alternators have to be imported through independent retailers in Japan, thus driving the price up, I have found that there is no difference price-wise in the end. With regards to the show, both the Japanese and American incarnations of the TF shows had their ups and downs: G1 -- "Magic" subspace garbage; Masterforce, Victory etc -- ridiculous hyped-up flashy transformation scenes, and calling out the name of weapons or TF modes, a la Mazinger et al.

1/48+FP's, 1/60, and 1/72 picture gallery
Renato replied to VF-18S Hornet's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I think we really need a thread to settle that issue. I could have sworn I was taught that the VF-0 was named the Phoenix from these boards. 371557 It was... during MacZero pre-production that is how the Compendium listed it, but it was later amended, with all reference to "Phoenix" removed. Such is my understanding, anyway. Edit-- Unsightly over-quoting. -
Now that's more like it. Zero lookin' good!
-
Or for anybody. Goddammit. Nobody seems to make good mecha anime anymore and all the cool toy designs are being kept locked up in the 80s. Thank God for Yamato for giving us the 1/48 and the Garland. Although they can't keep the boat afloat by themselves. Except for Yamato, it seems nobody (not even Bandai) ever pays respect at Takatoku's grave any longer.
-
Damn.. I might just have to get a set of stealth FPs for the "real" low-vis. Don't care much for these guys, though, judging from these photos. Yamato, call me when your colour blindness wears off.
-
Don't worry. It's starting to look as if they will keep reissuing that bad boy until every living soul on the planet has got one. Yamato's master plan revealed! (Edited for spelling and grammar. Duuhh... )
