  1. Thanks for the info, that book I do actually have right here on my shelf, and after flipping through it I found it on page 81. Yeah, it is Miyatake, because his signature is on the corner (that "M" shaped thing).
  2. Here we go. This should show what I'm talking about. Check out Mikhail's profile in the pic below. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?s=&a...st&p=563494
  3. But in the manga he is consistently called "Michel". In fact, in the character profiles his name is labelled ミハエル and then (ミシェル) underneath it in brackets. Or maybe it was the other way around. Anyway, they've got both in there. Graham put a scan of the page, I'll try and find it. And in the anime it's not only Luca that calls him Michel, Gilliam also refers to him as Michel. So I really don't know what the hell is going on. PICK A DAMN NAME, PEOPLE!!
  4. Thanks for the scans! Damn, I realised I made a mistake. The I was confusing the artist who draws the "long bodies" I was describing with Narumi, but it turns out that it's actually Hideaki Shimada. Crap. Either way, it's definitely him doing the last scene in Romanesque. In my defence, she does do long bodies too, but the lines themselves seem more gentle, and the faces not as long. Hmm. Anyway, yes, the names are in fact there, so left to right here we go (I'm separating the pics on the left and right by a semi-colon): the mecha collection: Row 1: Kazutaka Miyatake; Shoji Kawamori (always loved this pic of the Macross) Row 2: Can't tell -- too dark, too small, and the name is off-frame (Miyatake maybe?); Kawamori Row3 : Miyatake; can't tell this one either, but I certain it's neither Kawamori nor Miyatake, never seen the Monster looking like this. Row 4: Not sure; Kiyomi Tanaka.. I think this is one of the guys Graham talks a bit about sometimes. Row 5: Toshimitsu Suzuki; Tanaka again. the Characters collection: Row 1 Mikimoto; Mikimoto Row 2: Toshihiro Hirano; Toshihiro Hirano Row 3: Ichiro Itano; Narumi (can't remember her surname) Row 4: Hideaki Shimada; Hideaki Shimada Row 5: Kawamori; Hmm... earlier in the thread I described this one as being by Mikimoto, but I'm doubting it now that I see it again after all this time. Guess I was just misremembering. I don't think it's Hirano either. Dammit. I'm sure it's not Shimada... could it be Miyatake?? Sounds crazy, yet... Anyway, Chas, I'm willing to bet your avatar is by Miyatake. OK, not "willing", but...
  5. Check out more engrish at 15:51 on the broadcast edition (I'm sure it's in the DE too).
  6. Hell, maybe WALL-E is the remake.
  7. I heard about this a while back. They said it was due for a 2008 release but I've not seen any teasers or anything so I'm guessing it's been pushed back. According to IMDB Tim Blaney, the voice of Johnny 5 will also be returning. Hmm.
  8. Narumi is the one that did the one with Hikaru in his flight suit standing up and... doing not much else. Itano did that crazy skewed VF-1 action scene. Mikimoto did the Minmay painting and the green / white Mucha style female cast ensemble pic.. someone here did a STUNNING colorisation of that one, I can't remember who. We should search for that. Er, I can't remember what the other pics were. Funny, I don't remember Hirano doing any of those, come to think of it.
  9. Well, I don't have a scanner, but I'm sure there are scans lying around. Plus most of my stuff is in London. Does anybody here have that Macross Illustration collection thing? It was a folder containing ten fairly large card poster type illustrations by different artists, and there were two versions, one was mainly characters and the other, mecha. I had the character one. Looking at those one by one you can really tell how, for instance, Narumi's style differs from Mikimoto's, and also the madness of king Itano, heh. I just remembered, the characters in the Christmas episode of SDF Mac ("Romanesque") were mostly drawn by Narumi (the action is quintessentially Itano all the way): I'm thinking of specifically the ending scene where Minmay and Hikaru kiss. Check out Hikaru's tall frame and hair, as well as Minmay's eyes and nose.... Aw hell, I could go on forever. Damn, you know what, we should start a thread 'cause I'm really derailing the hell out of this. Sorry!
  10. He did the "Ikenai Mako-chan" Cream Lemon one. He may have done others. Iczer and Dangaioh both look awesome but I don't really care for the stories. Of course, Kawamori did the mecha for Dangaioh too... As for Narumi, yeah I like her work, too, I never knew they were married! That's awesome. Her style is nice too, and it gives the characters a bit of a shojo manga look to them. The male characters all tend to look a bit taller, with long torsos and always with a straight back, which is interesting. Man, makes me want to get out all my old artbooks and pick out each characteristic one by one...
  11. I've been wanting to do something like that since like, forever. Need to gather a willing team, and be able to dedicate a lot of time, though...
  12. Yeah, Aramaki said it was planned as a police show, then became close to what it is now. However, he didn't want to feature the Legioss too heavily, because the story should have been just about people riding on motorbikes, trying to get to Reflex Point. If they can all just fly a Legioss, they'd get there in no time! So he was only going to have it pop up in a few places, mostly the first episode, and then after that Mospeadas all the way. Unfortunately, the sponsors didn't see it that way... "Gotta have toys!"
  13. When did they show that?? During the opening? Oh yeah, I also found it interesting that the preview for episode 2 is totally different to the one we saw a few months ago. I wonder if there were scenes which they changed around to show in other, later episodes.
  14. Like many, I didn't like that they took out the cool synchronized song/battle choreography, but I preferred this version's scene backstage, where they explain first off that Alto & gang are part of the stage show. When I watched the DE I was confused, thinking "what corkscrew? Why is he flying around in the dome?" That needed a bit more clarification. On the other hand, the DE opened with a long wide shot of all the ships in the fleet, and the welcoming radio transmission to Sheryl's flight, which kind of also welcomed the viewer into the Frontier world... That's gone now so you're kind of just thrown in there. Overall still very good, though. I didn't like the opening or ending, give me the adrenaline-pumping Seventh Moon or Dynamite Explosion any day. FIRE!!!
  15. Mikimoto designed only Eve Tokimatsuri. The rest of the cast in Part 1 were designed by Hirano. You can tell by what Carl Gustav Horn calls the "Toshihiro Hirano baby fat", particularly on the female characters. Check out the SDF Macross episodes where he is handling the keyframes, I think the final episode is one of them if I remember correctly. They all look a little bit more innocent and their subtle movements is also a trademark of his. I really miss the hand-drawn days when you can tell who was working on which scene just by their pen strokes. Sigh...
  16. No, it definitely did run with commercials.
  17. I'm seeding it now. Looks like I'm the only one..?
  18. It's on tonight. Very late at night, like 1am. So technically, it's on the morning of the 4th. (Times and dates vary depending on the region, but I think MBS is showing it first) By the way, little plug here. Anyone in Japan who wants to switch on early tonight (at 11:15pm on ABC I think) can see me on a TV show called "Bebop High Heel". I play the young Albert Einstein. Apparently he was some kinda ladies man... Check it out if you have time! I'll be recording both through the magic of VEE EITCH ESSS!!
  19. Here is my "Factory Color", which I got a few weeks ago. Pure sweetness. One thing I'd like to point out for those who do not know: the Microman figures CAN fit inside in robot mode. At least this one can. Might be worthwhile to try and kitbash Shogo's legs. Meanwhile, no, the Revy fig CAN'T fit inside. Her legs are too damn long. I'm thinking any thin-legged GI Joes people have lying around may do, though, so go ahead and post any new possibilities!
  20. What about Sirius?? Sucks to be him. And did you watch the movie, too?
  21. Thanks very much, Arthurius. You are restoring sense into this world. And yeah, it did say that we have unlimited upload size up until very recently, but now it has been changed to 10MB. Aww.
  22. So far, you are the only person I have heard of that has managed to get them. Could you please post scans if you have not yet applied them?
  23. Is it a chain or something then? Cause there's one of those restaurants right here in Kyoto. I'll take a pic next time.
  24. I don't own any so I can't tell you but I should warn that you have to look pretty hard for these things, one cannot simply walk into a random toyshop and buy them; they are niche collectors' items. If your friend goes to Tokyo, you may need to go to Akihabara or Nakano, and in Osaka, Nipponbashi.
  25. This Macross Chronicle Encyclopedia thing... I'm not sure how excited we should be about it because isn't it just one of those one issue a week, DeAgostini type deals? It comes with a binder, though, so I guess the completists may lap it up... Ah crap, that's me.
