I'm taking the liberty of posting the summaries here, for the sake of collecting everything in one place. Next month I'm back in the UK for a bit and I'll try to track down my copy of the actual script so I have the full thing back in my hands, and we'll see from there... In the meantime, bear in mind I wrote this like ten years ago, and my Japanese was a lot worse back then, so there may be a few mistakes, sorry. E.g., in chapter two, I think the two Zentradi weren't originally henchmen of Kamjin, they were just workers who were stressed with all the anti-zent hatred around. Bleah. Lastly, Boinger, I really don't remember ever finishing the translation I was doing for the Perfect Memory: Lost Two Years story, so that link you put up for it may not be actually mine originally. I remember someone did a very simplified translation and I then gave up on mine halfway through or so, because I figured people only wanted to catch the gist of it anyway. I haven't downloaded the file yet, but just in case, it might not be me you should be crediting for that one.

Never really stated for definite WHAT she is, but it is the same voice actress, and likely intended to be the same character. I didn't do any translations, but check out my synopses in the other Macross Classic thread. BTW, it might still take a while but I'm working on something very special indeed for this.

Thanks, LoneWolf... but the credits on both those songs show only the Composer, Arranger and Lyricist of the music, not the singer. And in the film and on the CD, the Singer credit has always been given to Emilia Jenius with Nekki Basara" or something totally unhelpful like that. The other scan just shows the voice actress credit, which we already know is Michiko Neya. I'm tellin' ya, it's the greatest Macross mystery ever!

I don't have it... Do you know where I could get some scans? I have the Macross Plus Movie edition DVD which has some pages of the pamphlet as part of their "Digital Materials" extra feature, but I think it's mainly only the MacPlus section. I do not know if the DVD of Galaxy is Calling Me has the missing data.

On the commentary for the Yakku Deculture Edition, Kawamori suggests that the opening theme of "who will you kiss?" ("Kimi wa dare to kisu wo suru?") could apply to anyone in the show, even same-sex partners. And we may joke now, but let us not forget we cannot put this stuff past him: remember gay pregnant man-angel Tohma from Aquarion? That was f-ed up.

I was really pissed off this morning because as usual, I had set the timer on the VCR to record but as usual, some stupid really important game caused everything to be delayed, so I ended up recordning some other crap. Then I try to download a raw, but the only thing up is Horrible Raws, and they only have the first 9 minutes, for some reason, what sh1t is this? Bleah. That's exactly my point. That's why it wasn't pre-empted for the Olympics, while it was for the Euro Cup.

Yeah, you are Aegis, part of the VF-X Ravens in VF-X2, but in VF-X1 they never give a name for the squadron (if there is one), and you are just "You". The designs show your flightsuit but your character's face is never shown.

Two reasons, one is that Macross F is on at like 1 in the morning: it's all about time differences. And the second is that AFAIK the terrestrial channels don't have the rights to show live Olympic events, you have to have satellite for that. The Euro Cup is not as big a deal in Japan, so that was on, though.

I would also like to know this... it's like one of the most elusive pieces of Macross information ever, I have been searching for it for over 10 years. I think the actress is Neya Michiko, but I don't know if she is the singer too.

I think it's been posted before, but I should stress again that a lot of ratings are "lost" on the Kanto broadcast, where all these ratings come from, because the Kansai broadcast precedes it. A lot of Kanto people have already downloaded the episode by the time it airs there. Also, I check the weekly "video recording" ratings (no idea how they measure these) and Macross F is in the top four pretty much every week. I agree that it's a stunt to get him to return, but Sheryl did not actually act in the movie, just Ranka and Alto. If anything, he should have kidnapped Ranka. I just don't see him asking around to see if Sheryl and Alto hung around or not, and then happened to be in the same place when she collapsed. Too much of a stretch. It just looks like bad writing to me. (Like a lot of the stuff surrounding Sheryl since the beginning of the show -- so many of the plot points involving her are badly executed, e.g. all the coincidental bumping into Alto and Ranka in the first few episodes, the whole pointless "I'm gonna be a pilot now!" thing just so the characters can interact more with her in the show, it all just seems tacked on cos otherwise she would just lift right out of the show).

DYRL: Zent A: "Zentran and Meltran!!" Zent B: "Zentran and Meltran???!" Zent A: "Zentran and Meltran." And I was gonna say the knife fight too, but I was beaten to the punch. I guess the battle at the air base in episode whatever, the "Private Time" one where Misa waits all day for Hikaru. In that, Hikaru gets into a Spartan and slaps a Zentradi's ass (rendering him unconscious?!). Finally, gotta give credit to Minmay and Kaifun, too stupid to escape through the bars when they're trapped in a fork prison.

I was watching TV a few months ago (on a cheesy NHK talk programme called "Studio Park", I guess a few of you know it), and Saotome was being interviewed, so I was thinking of making this thread, but never did. I remember thinking that's probably who they based Alto on, in terms of background, not personality of course. The interviewer was having a hard time cos he doesn't talk much. She was like, "so umm... what is the best role you've played?" And he was like "...Dunno, all of 'em". Hmm. Maybe he is a bit like Alto (as in, a git)! Anyway, the interviewer woman was really struggling to drag this interview out to the allocated time, always pausing and going "O....kay... Erm... right... what about..?". Funny thing is, next time I watched that programme she was interviewing Sakana-kun, this over-enthusiastic hyperactive fish and sea-creature geek (who I believe is an actual marine biologist). She could hardly get a word in between all his ranting and screaming! Jesus. And I've always thought of Exedore from Macross and the one from Mork and Mindy as one and the same from day one, anyway.
