  1. I had the first reply back when Gubaba started this thread, and voted, but by the time I had finished writing my post Azrael came over and promptly locked it... Never mind, I'll post my reply now: Although I really cannot pick one, and didn't want to vote "love 'em all", I voted for Galaxy Network Chart 2. The reasons are the mellow but almost sinister beauty of Lark Skybeauty, then that awesome riff on "Black/White", and a couple of outstanding Fire Bomber tracks not found anywhere else: the melancholic "Pillow Dream" and the Beatles-overload "Love Song". Note that this is not the same "Love Song" which appears on DYNAMITE FIRE; they are in fact TWO different Fire Bomber songs with the same title. This Love Song is sung by Basara and is an alternate version of "To Heart" by Hummingbird, which can be found on the "Unsweet" album. So, because it's probably the most underrated M7 album, with a great variety of genres, I recommend this album, GNC2, for those who think they've heard all of what M7 has to offer. Oh, yeah, and bonus points are awarded because no other Macross album has the English lyrics "F*ck you!"
  2. I think Bandai has some kind of umbrella-license over the whole frachise.
  3. Hey, it's a release schedule, behind the valks! No specific dates, but here's the scheduled order of release: 1st: Alto Normal Version and Ozma Normal Version 2nd: Mikhail and Luca Super Versions PLANNED: Stand-alone super part sets for Alto version So, I guess no FAST packs included off the bat, and so far no GBP confirmed. Weird, cos don't we ALWAYS see Ozma's valk with the GBP armour on? edit -- dammit, beaten to the punch
  4. Me: "Hallelujah!! Praise Jeebus!" My wallet: "Damn it all to hell!!" So the new line is called "VF-Hundreds". These will go great with the Yamato Koenig. I wonder if the Zero will look better or worse than Yamato's 1/100 shelved prototype?
  5. I was copying and pasting, but you took them off before I saw the whole batch!! I only saw the first one. We're willing to put in the effort, so even if it's just the links, please post!
  6. Haha, yeah! Man, those sucked, but you had to love them 'cos there was nothing else out! At the time the 1/55 was the holy grail and had not been manufactured for 10 or 15 years or so. I managed to grab a rare European edition of the 1990 1/55 Super Valkyrie, and that made everything else look like a lump of crap. At the time, Macross Plus was really, really impressive. And actually I only got to see DYRL in 1994 or 1995, first in crappy Clash of the Bionoids dub form (but not the chopped up version). Man, that was... amazing. Because I did not think animation could DO the things that were happening onscreen, it was so spectacular. Nowadays, I think we're spoiled. I'm complaining about Alto and Sheryl in Frontier, and about the new Yamato VF-1D's cockpit... Seriously, the "me" of ten or twelve years ago is probably going, "What? What the hell is WRONG with you?? You're living in an AWESOME period and you still want more??!" Then I realize that ain't me, it's actually MisaForever...
  7. Yeah, the quote may be out of context, meaning the magazine is the exclusive. If indeed it does say that in the text of the mag, though, we need better scans of the text, not just the photos. Can anyone who has the magazine provide them, please?
  8. I think the parts-swapping will definitely be more extensive than just deployed/stowed landing gear. In one of the magazines (Hobby Japan or Dengeki Hobby, god, they all look the same to me) they mention that the original mockup or something proved too brittle with the delicate hinges all over the place, so they went with the swappable parts and thus solved the problem. On the up-side, we may have a more "playable" toy than the DX. Don't forget that as awesome as the Aquarion is, the thing can barely stand up under its own weight. I'm undecided as to whether I'll go for this or the 1/72 kit. I have little interest in the DX at the moment.
  9. Welcome to Macross World!!!
  10. Yeah, it is.
  11. I don't think Studio Nue has anything to do with this anymore, it's Kawamori and Satelight. Studio Nue has only been credited as the "original creator" as far as I can tell, ditto with Macross Zero.
  12. And my sentiments exactly with regards to this, too. Old thread on this mini-gem: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...l=fukuyama+fire
  13. It's already gone down to number 14. Its high rank is really mind-boggling for me, because as usual, there is virtually no radio airtime, no TV appearances, no commercials outside of its own time slot, no poster ad campaigns outside of designated otaku hunts, so it's almost as if Lion's huge achievement is, to use an oxymoron, blatantly invisible. I mean, people on MW are asking whether May'n or Nakajima or MacF itself are becoming mainstream due to this, but I see no proof of this anywhere. Like I said from day one, I have no idea how they are selling so much, because there is no recognition for the characters or the show or the singers in your average household here. And I really dislike that the Mainichi article is hailing this as an "anime song boom". These CDs are selling not because there is a sudden new interest or demand for anime songs, but simply because they are damn good. So for that much alone, I say well done to Yoko Kanno and everyone involved for a great -- and rare -- achievement. Good music in the top five, who'd have thunk it!! Having said that, there is definitely more to this than meets the eye, and if researched properly, this is more proof to my theory of segregation within media audiences in Japan, and the totally different makeup of what we in the West would call "mainstream".
  14. I don't have the book on me anymore, but I'm certain I have it in scanned data form somewhere, so I'll look for it when I get around to it. I'm a bit busy for the next couple of weeks or so, though, so it may take a while.
  15. Thank you.
  16. If I remember correctly from the interview at the back of Macross Design Works, he said he originally had it made out of wood (maybe balsa or something) by a shop he knew in the neighbourhood, then he brought that to Takatoku. It's been years since I read that, though (I read it only when the book first came out).
  17. That's right, and there's so much other stuff you can do, like run SNES emulators on it so you can play Scrambled Valkyrie, too!! The PITA is that you need to install CFW -- "Custom Firmware" on it to override all the crap that boring Sony has programmed to stop you from using the PSP for all these cool things. AND to do THAT you physically need to have a modded battery (called a "Pandora battery") and a modded "Magic Memory Stick". I didn't know any of this stuff until two weeks ago or so, but now that I have read that you can watch youtube on the PSP and play DVD rips from the Memory stick and run Windows etc, I'll probably never be satisfied with just a "normal", no-frills PSP. Still not made my purchase though.... EDIT -- Oh yeah, about MacPlus GE: I doubt the two-player function would work though.
  18. Couple of weeks ago I saw "coming soon" posters in the cinema for this movie, right next to the Iron Man ones (which STILL isn't out here until the end of next month, argh!!).... Isn't it too late to cancel no matter what happens?
  19. I think "Seasons" was by Ayumi Hamasaki. And yeah, I checked out the youtube kid.... He seems to listen to a lot of stuff I hate, so I could only bear a couple of minutes.
  20. In the commentary, he said "maybe". But that may have been just to shut up Shin's voice actor's incessant begging, which he's been doing since the special feature at the end of Zero ep.5. "Let's make a movie!! We wanna see a movie!! Come on!!" Having said that, Kawamori did say that Zero was designed with a big screen in mind, which is why they put so much texture on the Valkyries.
  21. Wait, so you didn't need a pandora battery? I was under the impression you needed that, and something called a "magic memory stick" to install the Custom Firmware on the PSP, without which you cannot load games from the Memory stick... I was planning to get one soon and get Metal Gear Portable Ops while I wait for Ace Frontier, but man, all this research is tough.
  22. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25248
  23. The audio commentary is interesting... I didn't know the voice actor for Shin made his debut in Macross 7.... as the Emerald Force "redshirt" Morley/Morry!! Didn't he die after like two episodes??
  24. Maybe someone ought to post a similar pic if they have one, of the VF-1D. Just so we don't get (more) people confusing it with the VT-1, due to its colour scheme. It would also show how radically different the canopy is. EDIT -- I'll just do it myself. A bit small though:
