  1. It's not even that because it seems Yamato are not allowed to rerelease the Koenig as is, even without the SMS markings. I can understand the issue, I mean, if I was Bandai I certainly wouldn't want to be effectively footing the bill for all the advertising for some other company's product who then makes all the profit. But nothing is stopping them making their own version to compete with. They should handle it as a challenge rather than eliminating the competition, that's just bad sportsmanship and it means that everyone goes home empty-handed.
  2. Me too, that was.... odd, to say the least.
  3. I think that's exactly what the writers had in mind, and years and years ago I made a similar post. Gamlin, Mylene and the others are having the same reaction to Basara's antics as the viewer, so it is they that we are supposed to relate to, and we come to understand Basara's behaviour through their experiences.
  4. There are multi-player VS battles, as well as multi-player cooperative battles. Not sure about single-player VS battles, though. Might just be the missions, but I doubt it.
  5. A while back Graham did say that Yamato may not have the VF-X2 licence anymore, so I was wondering about the new GNUs myself... Then again, they were advertised as Macross Plus toys even in their VFX2 schemes... Graham did not mention any complications with Bandai though.
  6. I dug up this old thread to let people know of something I read near the bottom of this page: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/type97/20080930#p1 The writer is complaining that "if Bandai have the time to block the re-release of the 1/100 VF-x2 Koenig Monster, then they should bring out a worthwhile product sometime". I'm wondering if Graham or anyone else heard any other information, even if it is just rumours, concerning this, as it's the first I've heard of it. Could Bandai be such bee-tards that they don't want people to have the Yamato Koenig to customize into the SMS one, even though they themselves are not bringing one out? This month's issue of Hobby Japan even shows a custom using the Yamato, which clearly upped the demand for the item, which was by no means rare up to now. If this is true... Goddammit, Bandai, I was fine with just avoiding your crappy-looking products, but now you're activbely messing up our hobbies? It looks like you've been taking lessons from HG behind our backs.
  7. Sorry I'm a little late in replying, but thanks for the notice! I was away and did not read the update. Great to hear everything is back on track and I saw on the Macshare forums that they're discussing contingency plans should a real situation occur, which is great.
  8. OK, I just got the new issue of Macross Chronicle (I usually get it first thing Thursday morning because I live above a 24hour bookshop ) which has a feature on the upcoming PSP game. It turns out that Macross Zero will NOT be a playable timeline per se, but the valks themselves will be available. Better than nothing, I guess. Also... you can control the Macross!!
  9. I'm gonna get the Macross Ace Frontier PSP game. All the valk fun, without all the Klan dung. Oh, and a PSP to play it on, hopefully. And yeah, I should rewatch Frontier sometime. For the first half of the run, I used to watch the episodes raw once, then once again with subs, but I just got too busy towards the end and the last few episodes I just watched once on TV, while eating. I must have totally missed some of the stuff people are talking about in the other threads, like Grace sends Mao a postcard or something? Huh?? Also, I cannot recall where it is specifically stated that Mao is Sheryl's grand-daughter. Anyway, for the meantime there's the game and the new soundtrack coming so I'm not having any withdrawal symptoms yet.
  10. Besides a couple of nit-picks, I'm all psyched for this release. Hardly any of the new promotional info features Macross Zero in either text or images. I really hope it hasn't gone the way of the PS2 game, in which the VF-0 and SV-51 were supposed to feature but got pulled out at the last minute for no good reason. One other thing bugging me is that the missions are all based in their respective timelines, so that might mean you cannot pilot a Tomahawk and try to take out a VF-27? Or play as Mac7 Millia versus SDF-Mac Millia? Hmm, I do think I saw a pic of a VF-25 fighting a Strike VF-1S, but I hope that's not limited to just the 2-player battles or something like that. Lastly, the cover art is ruined by the usually-infallible Tenjin Hidetaka making a stupid mistake on the Fire Valkyrie's forearm. What's going on? Why is the elbow joint backwards? Did Basara try to fix his valk by himself or something? And it's almost October! Let the countdown commence: TEN days to go...
  11. Thanks for the news, Graham. Hmm.... Should I bother to invest the effort in getting it, when it'll likely be swiped up by evil scalping MacF otaku the second it is released, like the kits and concert tickets and all the other crap I wanted..? To answer your question rather belatedly, yeah, it was all new footage in terms of it WASN'T just the TV show edited together. However, the theatrical release was very similar to the 1995 Macross Fair which as we all know comprised of the Macross 7: Galaxy is Calling Me movie shown together with Macross Plus Movie Edition. That is to say, the Theatrical Aquarion was made up of the two OVAs (Wings of Betrayal and Wings of Glory) back to back, making up about two hours, along with a brand new feature, the 30-minute "episode", Hymn of Triumph. Thus both the 1995 Macross and 2007 (or was it 2008?) Aquarion "movies" were actually compilations of their respective OVAs plus a new "short", though neither of them spliced together TV footage to make a movie. It'll be interesting to see what route MacF takes, since it does not have an OVA to fall back on. They should've made a Macross Zero movie first, though, with all the "fixes".
  12. I vote for Klan to get the cut. A retelling a la DYRL would be the best option. I don't see how they could continue the story, but it would be interesting nonetheless, I mean, they managed to make a story about space whales with Basara so anything is possible. However, it is very much a possibility that we will get an oversized clip show a la MacPlus. I really hope they don't go that route. The Aquarion movie wasn't too bad, with both an alternate-telling and tie-up to the original, AND "bonus" episode a la Galaxy is Calling Me. In fact, Aquarion is like all three in one in that respect.
  13. "Frontia"? Jesus. Yet more would-be awesome fan art totally ruined last-minute by stupid spelling mistakes. Should've spent more time in school listening to the teacher instead of doodling away. Edit -- Did you purposely misspell "Sheryl" so the artist does not feel so bad? Don't encourage him, man...

  15. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Macrosshare is dying!! They just deleted that poor guy's Rapidshare account on the grounds of illegal distribution of copyrighted material. Some links appear to still be working, but who knows for how long. Argh. EDIT -- I suggest to everyone that cares, that they download as much as they can while it's still possible. Hopefully in the future there will be some other way to share it with the community, especially the rarer stuff like the 20th anniversary DVD and obscure CDs. Me, I was looking forward to checking out all the spanish dubs of Macross Plus, etc. Perhaps if we have enough stuff we can add it to Gubaba's Huge Macross Torrent, due to go up next year.
  16. What the hell happened?? I'm much more excited about this game than I ever was about the Frontier TV show itself. I've not played the Gundam games myself but this thread is full of nothing praise for them, and as soon as an incredibly awesome new two minute trailer for AceFrontier comes out, we get two complaint posts in a row? This is the first I've heard about those Gundam games being bad. Please don't jinx it, I really want this game to be every bit as amazing as it appears to be.
  17. So basically.... If people think Yamato's gonna release a limited weathered edition valkyrie, that pisses them off? And if it is later revealed that said weathered valkyrie is not even gonna be released and is a one-of-a-kind custom, then people are happy? I don't get it. People don't like limited items, yes, but what is more limited: one, or a few hundred? Just look at all the blind rage in just two pages of this topic, it's insane.
