  1. Eroticism and moe are two completely different things, though. Besides, we never saw Misa or Claudia fondling their breasts, and any nudity is few and far between in the original show. I just find the constant breast fetishes really off-putting, and it becomes a barrier for when I want to recommend the series to others. Even Zero had nudity, but it was not crude like in Frontier.
  2. For those that read Japanese, this is the first really negative review I found when the series had just started. Even at the time I thought it was a little too harsh, though. It is a blog written shortly after the fourth episode. Criticisms include the VF-25's "old" design, which has had no consideration of stealth, and the way the characters act as if it was some old-school anime, with stupid comedy moments like when Ranka hits her head on the microphone. Overall, aside from the action scenes, it is not up to the standard of 21st century anime. http://gecko3.seesaa.net/article/94848989.html
  3. One thing bugging me about the Chronicle is that the cover art always features either mecha (by Tenjin, which is fine, no complaints) or characters from Frontier. I mean, Basara and Hikaru, even Misa deserve top billing, but this week Hikaru got bumped by a frickin' Super Valk? That's not on! I was expecting an awesome cover with Basara on it a few weeks ago, but instead it was that stock image of Ranka, and same with Misa and Sheryl. No more dumping on the classic characters!! (Could be worse, Mash could've been on the cover of issue 1... <shudder>...)
  4. That's why they set an extra date. It was originally gonna be just Yokohama and Osaka, but now that they've seen that there's demand, the next one's gonna be at the Budokan. Well, I don't feel like going through all that ticket BS again (you just know the same gits will want to go AGAIN when some haven't had the chance to attend even one), and I'm gonna spend more on travelling expenses, plus I have no time, so I hope some other MWer can go instead. Good luck! As for foreigners, I guess you need pretty good Japanese skills to secure these tickets. It's confusing even for Japanese people.
  5. Maybe Col. Barton as well. He had a pretty important role while being a minor character.
  6. Yeah, I'm probably gonna get this as long as it comes without the patented Yamato Exploshoulders.
  7. Whoa, man! Have some mercy!
  8. Good, so it will be longer. I didn't know the backpack was supposed to be longer too, though. (BTW "complete deformation" = "perfect transformation")
  9. Thanks for that in-depth review! Sounds fantastic. Count yours truly among the "losers". I tried my best to get these tickets, alas.
  10. Thanks! Yet another fabulous mispelling, "Macross Flontier". 3,000 is not so bad, but I guess I'm just used to all these Macross items being ridiculously overpriced, I was expecting it to be like 10,000 yen. Someone already made their own in the fanworks section, though.
  11. Here's a forgotten mecha: The Variable Glaug, from Macross M3. I like the Monster, but the Koenig is so much more fun. And thesame goes for the Glaug, yeah, I like the classic design, but with added transformation gimmicks, it becomes awesome, not to mention three-in-one. Macross should be about EVERYTHING transforming into robots! Oh yeah, I'd like to see a VF-0D too, but no "exploshoulders", please.
  12. About half the tickets were a lottery, the rest sold out immediately. Thus I won't be going.
  13. I watched the movie first, and enjoyed it, and got into the series that way. Not sure if I would have enjoyed it as much if I had started from the first episode.
  14. Yeah, that'll be it then. 'Scuse me, I'm gonna go and watch some Macross Siete and maybe some Macross Frontera, or perhaps Macross Cero!
  15. I was a bit disappointed when I read that the game would use the local PSP network thing instead of real online play for multiplayer mode, but when I read that post and did a search, I got all excited again, so for those who don't know: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ Pretty damn cool. We should all get this (I still haven't read most of the info, so I don't actually know how good or easy it is to use)!
  16. No can do, sold out everywhere and if you buy it used at amazon it's already going for over Y1,600. Nnng! The new magazine, "Animage Original" seems to feature some interesting MacF stuff, though I haven't been able to find it on the shelves and I don't want to order through amazon if I don't know the content...
  17. Sums up the theme of the show
  18. Sweeeet. Did you upload that onto Youtube? If so, is it difficult to play on the PSP with several controls missing?
  19. I just watced that scene from episode three again, and yeah, you guys are right! Totally missed that the first time. Thanks
  20. I don't get/remember this. As I recall she was screaming that Ozma had promised he wouldn't go out in battle anymore. What secret are you saying she is talking about here? And I have no idea what you mean by channelling baby ranka / talking to Brera...
  21. Did you (or anyone else) get last month's issue of the new magazine "Charaberry's"? It had quite a big Macross Frontier cover story, the difference with the other magazines being that it featured a lot of black and white genga (keyframes) and other such production materials, which are always interesting to look at, more so for me than the usual illustrations you see everywhere else. I missed my chance to get it because at the time I thought 880 yen was too expensive, but it's double that now. This month's issue has another MacF feature but I don't know exactly what content. If anyone has it, or can find scans, please let us know!
  22. I extrapolated that from the rumour that they planned to but Bandai blocked it. As I said, the "rumour" comes from here: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/type97/20080930#p1 But that guy seems to be stating it as fact.
