That's pretty incredible... The instrument is an electone. Those pedals look really complicated, she's pretty much playing with every limb! I APPROVE. BTW, here is a mirror on Youtube, I couldn't see the video using the previous link (apparently the original is from NicoDoga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VAmXWljWTU

By the way, my mobile phone email is: renato-rivera [at] k.vodafone.ne.jp I plan to be in Akihabara most of the day but I will have to get back to Kyoto relatively early because I'm busy from early in the morning the next day.

I made a thread in the Gatherings section. It would be cool to have a meet-up. I'll be quite pushed for time, though. Give me a bell, though.

In that case let me add here the link to my post containing the superior scans of the new 1/60 VF-1D and Ostrich, courtesy of the Macross Chronicle. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=717361

Actually, the text in the magazine says it is actually Misa Hayase. I know, it doesn't make any sense in terms of chronology, but I guess they wanted to make both Minmay and Misa fans happy. One thing I noticed is that the VT-1 again seems to suffer from tiny tailfins. Argh.

The event is this Sunday, and yet I have not heard from anyone that is going except for a couple of people. It might be a little late, but I think there should be a thread for this. Save, you're going, right? I hope to see at least some friendly gaijins there!

Is it... their new boxes?

SIR, YES, SIR!! I'll do the VF-1D page, too, then, shall I? It's got new pics (at least to me, they are) clearly showing the length of the fuselage and cockpit are identical to the Roy. Hmm.
-
Yeah, sorry for the poor quality pic. I would have scanned it, but I decided to take it with my phone for the purposes of SCOOPAGE.

The Prometheus is the talk show, the Daedalus is the "Launch Ceremony", the contents of which I'm still not sure about. Anyway, the talk show will feature Kawamori and gang, so I couldn't really care less about anything else!
-
Look what I just got in the mail: A ticket to the Talk Show Event! Guess I'll see you other lucky guys on Sunday then!

Gubaba, as usual, your hard work is very much appreciated. I have two points to add: 1) Scans of entire Macross Chronicle issues (albeit not particularly high-res ones) were in fact being uploaded onto Macrosshare sporadically by someone until recently (I think they did at least 10 issues). It was not on the site properly, I saw the links either in the forums or in the shoutbox, I can't remember. However, if you look now there are no trace of them, rather, there is a new thread in the forums asking if anyone has any scans. Odd, since I SWEAR they were there... perhaps a similar problem befell the guys over there? 2) Why not save yourself a lot of work and just type up the dialogue as a text file, rather than doing a "scanlation" format? That's how I got through "Macross 7 Trash" in the 90s: I printed out Matt Alt's translated txt files and filed them in a folder, and read them as I went through the manga books. It's a real low-tech thing, I know, but it's kind of fun that way, you learn a little (since all the manga in MacAce has furigana) and, of course, you have to buy the actual magazine. Anyway, just a suggestion. Although, I can imagine that some bright spark with the book might just scan it and add your translated text, put it online and we'll all end up back to where we started again.

Wha... huh..?.... DOES NOT COMPUTE!! DOES NOT COMPUTE!! *BOOM*

Hey, there, just got back from Tokyo last night... bloody knackered. Overall I was there for just over a week, but it was a shame that I only had one late afternoon to meet Alex and go to Akihabara and do this thing. My original plan was to film the whole process like a mockumentary of otakudom, but it had gotten quite dark by the time we were there and the wind was absolutely fierce and freezing, we were literally getting blown away (and my analog copy of the Votoms soundtrack Volume 1 was acting like a windbreaker dragging me back) so that proved really impractical. The whole run around town was both annoying and fun, in a way, just because of the whole stupidity of it all. The trip started with the aforementioned freaky cosplayers at the Anime Center (interesting goods on sale, like funky launch ceremony SDF-1 T-shirts), where you buy the poster, receive the stamp sheet, and almost have it fly right out your hand as you step out into the gale-force winds. Honestly, that whole Akiba Square structure seems designed to channel cyclones. It was pretty, pretty bad. I liked that the guys at Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby have a 20% discount on Macross Revoltechs. So what I did was I got a Max 1J there, got my Roy Focker stamp, then ran over to the Family Mart to buy a drink, got my Miria stamp, and then Alex says he might go in and get a drink too. So I say to him, "Alright, take the paper and let's see if he gives us another stamp". It turns out every shop has a different stamp, so you aren't allowed two from the same shop, "otherwise there's no point", as the shop attendant stated. I looked him in the eye and said, "Honestly... there's no point ANYWAY, is there??" He didn't find that funny. But by that time I actually did have enough anyway because in my wallet I had the cut-out stamp that came with Macros Ace (the one with the new Minmay), so back to the Anime Center it was where Ranka was still there but Sheryl was replaced by "Man" and they were kind enough to glue the last remaining token onto the sheet, and then add the final "You made it back" stamp, which was Ai-kun. I thought once I submitted the sheet I wouldn't get it back, so I took out my camera and asked Lanka Ree to hold it so I could take a photo, but I think she was a little disappointed/offended that I only photographed the paper in her hands instead of her posing with it. So, that was awkward. For her. Then it was showtime. I finally got the chance to roll the rickety bingo ball dispenser piece-o-crappe, which came with a myriad of explicit warnings and disclaimers and instructions "ONCE! CLOCKWISE" (cue index finger gestures). I obediently do as told and out comes a white ball. The reaction, in unison: "ZANNEN!!" And I'm thinking "Aw, screw you b*****ds". The girl says "were holding the rally until the 15th (or whenever), so if you..." and I say that I have no other free time and I live in Kyoto so she does the typical "oh what a shame" pretend crying. So I wave (or rather dismiss) goodbye and say "See you in another 20 years", to which I think only the "Man" laughed. And that was the adventure, pretty much. That Black Pepper sauce at Burger King was damn good, though. Oh, yeah, and we did see an actual KITT from Knight Rider parked around the station (with the couple inside no doubt trying to work out which switch is the actual ignition, since they were stuck there for ages), so it wasn't a bad evening all in all. Anybody else in Tokyo have better luck with this Sheet/Sh*t? EDIT: Attaching some highlights of the day:

Yes, I have seen this done in a photograph in an old magazine from the 1980s, I think it showed members of Takatoku staff with a GBP 1/55 on the table, and the missiles being launched with plastic wires or something. I cannot remember what magazine or book this was, and most of my Macross books are back in London so I can't help much more than that... which die-hard Macfan can manage to find it??

For those interested: an ad in Macross Ace has revealed the full kanji for Saotome Alto's name: It is 早乙女有人。 Could be a typo because so far this is the only instance of this that I have seen.
-
A little bit of news: The kanji for Alto's name has been revealed. It is 早乙女有人。 It was in an ad page of the magazine... Could be a typo, though, because I've only ever seen it in Katakana. Guess I'll put this in the news thread since that has been a bit of a desert lately... EDIT - To make things clear, his surname's kanji was always known, it's the "ALTO/ARUTO" part that is the actual news.
-
Yes it was. I grew increasingly annoyed with each episode after #7.... and yet I watched every last one.
-
It's Ozma. He's battling some elderly Zentradi with the power of song.... I must say, apart from Macross The First (or even more than that), I actually enjoyed the Macross Seventh Code manga. It's a jokey side-story to Mac7, with a feverish classical piano-playing little girl. Her father was in a death metal band or something and had forbidden her to play any music other than the standards. Spoiler:

You want to know why this thread is so incredibly ironic to me? The only reason I know about this show (it's a Go Nagai thing, right?) is because of an ad for the DVD Box set which was printed on the back of a porno magazine here in Japan.

The Transformers 2 Thread--A Michael Bay thread
Renato replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh yeah, that was awful, awful directing. Very unprofessional. It pretty much ruined the climax of the movie: if you look at the editing of the scene in which Sam runs up and puts the cube in Megatron's chest.... He's running away from Prime, but as he lifts the cube up, he is FACING Prime, with Megatron coming up BEHIND him... So actually for a second it looks like he did in fact put the cube in Prime's chest instead of Megatron's. Not that I can blame him, hell, I'd sacrifice myself if subjected to such bad editing/directing. -
Heh, the two things I liked best about that page: 1) Parody poster for "The Happening" 2) The comment which read only, "FAKE."

Exedore suddenly has some kind of lens growing on his forehead now. Huh. Aesthetically, I have nothing against the mix-match designs and redesigns, but in terms of continuity, the Zents are talking about the Supervision Army again, whereas the movie Macross design is meant to be based on a Meltrandi ship, right? That's somewhat jarring. One thing I liked is the flashback to the propellar plane stunt days of Hikaru and Roy, when Hikaru is being shot down... there is a nice touch added in that scene that was not in the TV show, but I won't ruin it. Overall, I like it, but... despite the cosmetic changes, it is just the exact same thing. Often it is nothing but a shot-by-shot recreation of the show. I hope Mikimoto has some surprising new twists in store, because changing Misa for Focker as the announcer is just too little, too lame. I dunno, I may be being overly harsh. As much as I enjoyed the manga, it's not enough. If only it was a weekly, or even a monthly..... I just don't get how this is going to turn out. I mean, the equivalent of one TV episode every 6 months? So it's gonna be 18 years before they wrap up the show?? All the other manga in the magazine are pretty awful, but the colour pages with the information are nice. I especally like the Tenjin page. Awesome.
