  1. Yeah, I thought the same thing. They're leaving a lot of space open for the mecha section (one entire binder), but the other two binders are crammed. LOL at the Zentradi Disney. I have still to put the stickers on mine....
  2. I don't think the SHE kit's hips split apart. though. The ones that did were the 1/100 Bandai 19 kits, and they used a leg-removal-reattachment process. And anyway, the original Yamato 1/72 19 was based -- and looked a lot like -- the SHE kit. So... They'd be going backwards? Anyway, after inspecting the lineart, I just can't see how it could be done, unless they make the intakes out of play-doh and you could remold them yourself for each mode. Yeah, I agree the hips are a big problem and aesthetically that's the main reason I didn't rush out to buy the 19 when it first came out. However having bought one a couple of months ago I have had many problems, so much so that the hips are the least of my worries. I don't even care if the chest locks or not. For me, the biggest issue is: Those thin grey metal blocks in the underside of the cockpit. Is there any way to reduce the stress placed upon them when separating the fuselage??
  3. Yeah, it seems this version is still very much unknown on these boards. In fact, I think last time I mentioned this dub you were the only one who actually knew what I was talking about! Yeah, it's a pretty bad dub, but a must for completists. Actually, since those are the only DVD copies I own, I actually had to go to Macrosshare to get the version of episode 4 with the "real" dub on it, for nostalgia's sake. And then I experienced the Spanish dub... suddenly the R2 English dub doesn't seem so bad!! Oh dearie me.... Anyway, as for series vs. movie... Well, it depends on what mood I'm in, to be honest. I must say I agree that the series has pacing problems overall, but the first episode is just PERFECT. It is the most gripping first episode of any show I remember watching, I thought it was amazing when I saw it back in 94 or 95, and each subsequent release has a fond memory concerning when and where I purchased it attached to it. In fact, I was living in the UK, but I got Episode 4 sent from the US by my uncle just because I couldn't stand the wait any longer, I have no idea what the hell Manga UK were playing at with that interminable delay. AnimeUK magazine had announced the Mac+ and Mac7 movies and I was wondering when I would ever get to see them. I've got lots of stories to share concerning my experiences with Plus, actually, but I don't have much time now, so perhaps in a later post.
  4. I might be repeating things here, but my interpretation of the VF-17 gunpod's explanation reads, "By replacing the special cylinder, the VF-17's MC-17A can also be used as a high-output beam cannon." To me, the "also" implies that it is primarily a standard gunpod which uses rounds, which can be adapted to a beam weapon. The animation at least shows it at such, so it's odd that most of the games show it as a beam weapon primarily. Anyway, I found an answer to my binder shortage/expense problem. DeAgostini distributes binders with an almost identical 3-ring design, which work perfectly with the Chronicle's pages, at a fraction of the cost. I forgot that I had bought a copy of the first issue of "My Music Studio" a while back, and I had the binder just lying around, so I used it and for a while I had the Mecha and Character sheets in my Macross binder, and everything else in the Music Studio one. And yesterday I saw an ad on TV for a new one called the "Disney Collection" or something, which is only 290 yen for the first issue plus binder, so I just got that. That adds a bit more variety and saves a ton of money on the hideously overpriced Macross binder, so I reccommend DeAgostini publications to anyone who doesn't care about the outward appearance of their binders, as long as the good stuff is preserved within. EDIT-- I'll add a couple of links: My Music Studio: http://www.de-club.net/mms/guide.htm Disney: http://www.de-club.net/ddf/ Top page (Stargate, Star Trek, CSI, X-Files and more): http://www.deagostini.co.jp/
  5. o/` The wheels on the bus go round and round... o/`
  6. Hang about, when did that come out?? I must've missed that in the news thread. EDIT -- Oh, is that the "Nyan-kuretto" one? I did see an article about that book a while back actually. Totally forgot about it.
  7. Exposed boobie ducks!! Someone PLEASE think of the children!!
  8. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/books/..._dyna_tiaam.htm It says it in the title of the page... But I guess it's only a typo, then.
  9. I just got the new issue. Finally, something is cleared up: The "red stuff" that the white galactic whale spits out and covers Basara's VF-19P is NOT blood, but.... "pollen". I was always on the side of the "sperm whale" theorists in this debate (which, granted, was miniscule to non-existent), and I'm glad that I was right in the end. By the way, I have never seen -- nor heard of anyone who owns -- a copy of the Dynamite 7 TIAS sourcebook so if there is any information there regarding this I didn't know it.
  10. Sorry, I think I've only ever seen that magazine on the shelves like once in my life, and that was a few months ago. I seriously don't know where people always get it from. Except online, of course. On the other hand, there's an interview with Mari Iijima in the new Figure Oh, if anyone cares..?
  11. The previously-convention-only-exclusive Fansproject Powered Commander is to be re-released. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/c...-chrome-167539/ A lot of controversy surrounding this, not so much concerning the fans who feel they "got ripped off" (aka Botcon Seeker Debacle ver 2.0), rather, due to reports that Fansproject themselves stated at TF Con that the molds were destroyed and no more would be made.
  12. Ah, yes, the Destroid shop. I remember that one. They were like only like 59p each, so I sold loads of them to people on this site way back in the day.
  13. I always thought only the intake covers were shown to be storable within the missile pods in the manual. I can't remember because I only really ever looked at the manual once when I got my first 1/48 around five years ago and I never bothered to touch it again. The transformation is just intuitive so I would never again feel the need to bother getting the manuals out of storage.
  14. That's a very bad review, by the way. The guy hasn't read the instructions and so hasn't figured how to lock the wing assembly into place in Battroid mode, then concludes that there isn't one and it's just supposed to be all floppy. EDIT-- If it was locked properly, the arms would NOT move along when you swing the wing up and down like he is doing in the video. The toy is very well designed and yeah, there may be a few problems because of the level of intricacy, but I highly reccommend it.
  15. I was disappointed the first time I opened my 1/60 1D and found out the missile pods were glued shut. I always used them on the 1/48 to store the intake covers and spare hands (not the pvc ones though). However, I never knew you could fit the other missiles inside!!! I just figured they were too big so I never bothered trying. Wow, this just makes me appreciate the 1/48 even more!!
  16. I thought it was the other way around. The way the movie and the TV show are being explained in press releases over here in Japan (no foreign TV shows are shown on Japanese prime time terrestrial TV so they are all really minor, thus they need press releases to "explain" the background and concepts), is that T3 was a sort of alternate universe and Sarah Chronicles would be the tie-in to the new movie. I think I still have one of those press release flyers around somewhere, it's got a flow-chart explaining the timeline. T3 was kind of depicted as the Macross II of the franchise. The series just came out a few months ago so it is still new here.
  17. WTF?? Now that's just irresponsible. Also, I find it humurously ironic that they pick the one Batman movie without the word "Batman" in the title to sue.
  18. I guess there's no MacPlus because Yamato already did everything, so it wouldn't be worth the hassle of making new molds. At last, a VF-19P. I hate these blind box things, though, I never get the one I want so I'm gonna pass.
  19. A sample of the upcoming Macross F Drama CD: http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/-/SampleStreamMe...sx?sid=MACROSSF It's "Runner"... but maybe it should be renamed "Ruiner"?? Seriously, I don't know who this is (I'm guessing Michael and Klan), but even Gigil from M7 at least sounded interesting. This is some awful, awful monotonous garbage right here.
  20. Dreamweaver13: What do you mean, I never read anything pointing to the contrary? Azrael: Maybe it's Kawamori's way of telling people not to forget about Macross even after they're old and grey, because they know this is the last generation they can market to...
  21. This looks really interesting! I wonder how badly the Japanese distributors are gonna screw this one up, though, since they renamed the documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon" to "The Moon" over here. Gonna cause a bit of confusion, I'll bet.
  22. Thanks for your well-thought-out input. While I don't quite see online distribution being the be-all and end-all answer (if anything it means more segregation as far as I can tell), I appreciate that you think its an important issue that ought to be considered and not be dismissed with a "it's the norm, accept it" attitude.
  23. Sorry if I wasn't clear: I am not making any such assumption, I am making a suggestion. TARGET THE RANDOM KID ON THE STREET. I realize they are catering to the otaku, I see a flaw in that. The market is shrinking; now is the time to branch out. BTW, this really, really isn't the right context for the word "mature"...
  24. Sorry if this is old news: The latest issue of the Macross Chronicle confirms that Richard Bilrer's motivation to set up the galaxy network thing using fold quartz WAS after all, to track down and meet Minmay. Basically everything that happened, did because an aging fanboy wanted an autograph! (It did look like that was the implication in the show, but it came out of nowhere and was never explicitly stated until now).
  25. No, they are not. I could use a fridge magnet or speakers, but I haven't seen any. Then again, if it's a fridge magnet with Ranka's ass on it, then forget it.
