  1. An old-time MW member called KidKorrupt has (had?) a site devoted to the original cars the G1 TFs were based on. Try googling it. If you cannot find it, I have the pages stored.... somewhere. EDIT-- I do not recall any constructicons in there. It was mainly about the Rally vehicles that Wheeljack and Smokescreen etc. were based on.
  2. Cos he doesn't have any? Seriously, count me in with the Devil's advocates. As much as I detested Shadow Chronicles overall, just putting those last two images together side by side makes the Shadow Chronicle character designs so much more refined and stylish than the Macross Frontier ones. I saw the cartoon and the women's proportions were ridiculous, of course, but in this comparison, Sheryl and Michael look like cardboard cut-outs, compared to... er, whoever the SC guys are supposed to be. I suppose it comes down to the fact that I just don't like straight lines on humans, it looks unnatural. Sadly, a lot of modern anime is going down this path.
  3. Yes, we have known for a while it would be a re-telling. What remained unconfirmed was whether or not it would be a DYRL-style, brand new version with similar events, or a MacPlusMovieEd-style "re-editing of footage" deal. What is now confirmed is the latter. Now, people might say that because there was hardly any new footage in the teasers that was known all along, and to them I say, yeah, but trailers for DYRL and Macross 7: The Galaxy is Calling Me also had a lot of old footage in the trailer, while they were actually all-new works.
  4. We're all better off not knowing. I heard the DestroyallpodcastsDX episode on it, though.
  5. Wait a second, he's actually BROKEN one of the booster covers, and is joking about it. Er... does Yamato know anything about marketing, or is this some new reverse psychology strategy??
  6. ・テレビシリーズを大胆に再構成したものをベースに新作カットが挿入されていくという感じ "Re-edit" movie edition confirmed. The movie will be a restructured version of the TV series, with some new cuts inserted in between scenes. Sigh. EDIT: They DO say that 70 percent is new footage though.... hmm
  7. You mentioned that BD's name is actually "Bad Dude"... Where is that confirmed? According to the Best Hit Series Megazone 23 book, he is a "Bloody Dandy". I know you have way more books than me so you should know, but I thought I should ask. Though, it doesn't even look like they were trying, as far as the name is concerned so maybe we shouldn't think so hard about it. Maybe it's Ben Dixon?
  8. There were four, though. VFX1+2, DYRL and MacPlus. Which one are you missing (the correct answer should be VF-X1!)?
  9. Psst.... I've been working on this for ages and ages and still it's in the planning stages, but it is happenning, just moving on very slowly. http://rr0722.deviantart.com/art/Hikaru-Ic...assic-124628417
  10. Oh, OK, I didn't realise the Studio Nue EBs were separate from the Macross EB. Having said that, I'm guessing people have already looked in the Macross EB and they're not there... right? I will see if I can download it now, I have a bad wireless connection at the moment so it will take a while.
  11. I just read the post in the forums, and it wasn't specified which volume. In fact, the "Entertainment Bible" was referred to as one book, so I think nobody realizes there are two volumes. And they're saying it is extremely rare, and no-one can get hold of it, and there are no scans anywhere. Er...Isn't this one of them? http://www.macrosshare.com/search/label/Miscellaneous
  12. Yeah, you're right, there is a hissing noise. Volumes I and II of the SDF soundtrack were re-issued last year, perhaps they were remastered.
  13. I have the actual physical CDs, so if you tell me what track, I can check them out for you. I've honestly never noticed, and/or it's never bothered me, though.
  14. Wow, that looks nice! It should not be too rare, though, because it looks like a recent Mikimoto work. It's not DYRL, either, it's done using the TV designs. Yeah, I'm interested in finding a larger version, and knowing where this came from too!
  15. This is bloody amazing. Well done, and cannot wait to see more!
  16. Hi there, sorry to complicate things further, but according to the Macross Chronicle's page on Roy Focker, he leads the 「スカル大隊」. And it appears more than once so it's not a typo. I guess they did that to differentiate it from Vermillion Team (小隊shoutai), because I seem to remember that the Vermillion Team was part of Skull Squadron. Anyway.... Skull Daitai? Skull Taitai? I don't even know which reading is correct. I have NEVER seen this word before, I can't check the anime right now, but I swear it was called Skull Shoutai in the show... unless that was just DYRL and I'm misremembering. To be honest, if even the canon sources cannot make up their minds on the designations of these things, then there's not much point pulling our hair out trying to come up with the "correct" English terminology. Squadron is fine by me, personally. EDIT - Looking at the Ozma page now... the SMS Skull Squadron is actually called 「スカル小隊」 Skull Shoutai in Frontier. We knew that, yeah, but I just wanted to make it clear that the Chronicle appears to be going out of its way to differentiate the Frontier and SDF versions of the Skull Squadron. Hmmm... EDIT 2 --- Nnnnnggh!! According to the timeline pages, the Skull Squadron in Macross Zero is also a "shoutai"! Maybe it was expanded later..?
  17. Thanks as usual, Kresphy! 20-page feature on the Macross F movie, huh? Better be good! "Minmay falls from the heavens" is probably referring to the classic mid-air catch scene in SDF episode 2... Obviously it seems it has been totally reworked here. I can't really figure out what that costume is supposed to be. It's like half Japanese schoolgirl uniform, half Stay Puft Marshmallow Man get-up. The art itself is great as usual though.
  18. I was looking for the "What do MWers look like?" thread, but I couldn't find it. Then I decided I was gonna put this in the Conventions and Gatherings forum, but I figured that's mostly for news of upcoming events, and this is more for nostalgic purposes, so here we go. Well, I was clearing up some old files today and I found some old photographs. This is a really small scan, but anyway, it's the only photographic memento I have of Shawn and Graham actually being together in one place. It's 2002 and it's dinner time, everyone's tired after Tokyo Toy Show weekend. I remember the 1/48 was unveiled and everyone was awed, whilst crying their eyes out with laughter over Rick the Hunter's (I think it was him) parody of the Robotech MPC ver.2, with the bent leg in fighter mode and a huge NO STEP on the wing. Also, this is the time when HG began to send out cease and desist letters to everyone they felt they could bully. Anyway, I'm in there, too, so it's time to play "Guess the MWer!!" (If anyone else, maybe even Shawn or Graham, have more pics from this time, we'd love to see 'em! I think there were a few in the main page too.)
  19. The Fast (referring to the speed they make crank them out) and the Furious (referring to the sick and tired audience)?
  20. My guess is, they had a lot of complaints..? Hell, it took me months to get the hang of attaching and removing that section on the VF-1D. I think I've only just finally mastered it. I don't really see why people would "hold off" getting the valks they wanted to get, though. By no means are they saying that later reissues of the Kakizaki and Max valks (if they do them), for example, will NOT be identical reissues. I doubt they will go back and re-issue all the v2 1/60s up to now with the "improved" crotch-attachment feature. Sounds too much of a bother.
  21. I'm probably not gonna be able to afford it, either. I hope they bring out some non-canon scheme later on, or something. Something on the Yamato site's VE-1 page caught my eye: ◆変形の進化 1/60VF-1の変形機構を一部仕様変更に成功! バトロイド時の股関節を収納、外す過程を、1/48のVF-1にあるカバーの仕様を参考に改良を重ね、再検証することで行いやすくなりました。 Apparently the transformation has been "improved"... by making the crotch attachment and release system similar to that of the 1/48! This is just really hilarious to me. Basically it sounds like they're saying, "yeah, we had it right the first time, never should've changed it. Sorry!"
  22. Gubaba, sorry I couldn't reply to your PM until this morning. I have sent you just now a few corrections you requested for the Yoshino interview . Hope I am not too late. Thanks for all the info, and keep up the good work!
  23. They are in fact keyboard and drum control systems. The Macross Chronicle states that while Ray does most of the piloting (with the keytar), the VF-17T can in fact be controlled fully using the drum set interface in the rear seat. Of course, it does not say how. So... yeah! Enjoy the hatred!
  24. Genga are animation keyframes drawn on paper. The cel artists used to trace over them on acetate (or they would use a machine that would photocopy the lines onto them) and then draw "in-between" frames to make the animation smooth, and after painting the cels they would be photographed, the whole process repeated a thousand times and hey, presto, you have animation. Nowadays they use a PC to do almost everything, but the genga keyframes are still drawn on paper, they're probably just scanned and then traced on the monitor. I don't think those in the auction are genga, though, they look more like just layouts, because they are so rough. Here are some Macross DYRL genga to compare:
  25. YES! At last. Now that's what I like to see. Hope they include the missiles and beam things to place under the wings. Although I will probably wait for the Olson Special if I get one of these, because I have a Takatoku Kei and it is just perfect.
