  1. The new issue of Figure Oh confirms that the VF-19kai will be the first to bear the Hi-Metal label. Also, it costs a whopping 7350 yen (I might be mistaken on the exact price, but it is definitely over 7000).
  2. Wow! Talk about an old topic. Six years, huh. Six years and this game is still boring as hell. I cannot believe the sheer number of strategy/dating Macross games available. For a while now I've been thinking about doing a run-down of all the Macross games, but these just take the michael. You have Eternal Love Song, True Love Song, Skull Leader, Remember Me, Love Stories, and so on. I'm not sure we have more shooters than sims for Macross. I mean, I know it's a matter of taste, but do these things need to be video games? Why aren't they just board games??
  3. Er, are you serious? The CG shading style and colour palette looks so close to the original, it's incredible. Plus I thought those WERE Mikimoto designs. They certainly look like what we see in Macross The First. Looks a whole lot better (and more Macrossy) than the Frontier CG shading and character art to me; I see no reason why a series in this style would not look fantastic. And I don't know what you mean by "Dominion cartoons". All I know is "Tank Police" and I cannot see how that can be related.
  4. I just have to say, I love this thread. I am almost literally crying my eyes out with laughter. "JELLOS!" "Jell-O?" "No, not J-Lo!" This is gold. I also loved that bit about the "VirtualFans". VFTF1, Gubaba, EXO, take a bow. Nothing like solid entertainment in the wait between HG news (not that I'm holding my breath).
  5. He gave it to his friend and never got it back. He is looking for another one for himself. Actually, no, do your own reading!
  6. Oh, man, this thread is quickly becoming a mess of miscommunication. Yes, IT IS NEW ANIMATION. I will just put the link to the thread where the whole discussion was moved: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=31168 (I don't blame you for not seeing it, it's in a totally separate forum section, buried under PSP topics, I guess you're just late to the party, man) Ideally we should have posts with both links to pictures and/or news stories, and also to the relevant threads talking about the specific thing if there are any. And BlueMax, no offense, but I think you might want to look closer at the monitor, or at least check your facts before you post, especially on this thread.
  7. I have one patent, a master's degree and I'm halfway through a PhD, and I admit that I am an idiot. None of those things mean anything when you are discussing cartoons. Even so, I have "figured out" Macross 7.
  8. I heard he went missing in the mountains and feared the worst. RIP
  9. Great, thanks! It's a raffle campaign, those who still haven't gotten tickets to the crossover live, go for it. I won't be going, though, as I will be away. As for the track list, I'm really glad they kept the self-covers to the bare minimum since they've been done to death, and Love It is a great song, so good choice there. Totsugeki had been announced a few weeks ago and I really didn't consider it much of a sales point...
  10. Wow, Kresphy, you really do your homework! I don't think I have seen this before. It looks to me like a court order describing Bandai Visual as obligator (with BigWest as supporter) and Tatsunoko as obligee, that BV does not agree with the argument that they not be allowed to distribute "Macross" animation DVDs or promo material, etc. You need to really know your lega-lingo to read it properly, though... (BTW, I think Kresphy needs a custom title... like SCOOPMEISTER or something )
  11. Good find! I was confused, because first of all, in Dynamite Seven they never actually call the whale a "Stellar Whale" in katakana (and it's actually "sutaaraa hoeeru", instead of "suteeraa" which is kind of odd), they always use the Japanese "Ginga Kujira". Also, by coincidence this week's Chronicle actually has a feature on the real Ginga Kujira under the World Guide section, not the mecha section, which makes more sense.
  12. As I said before, it's been a decade now so I would expect you could at least spell "KIKE!" correctly... Now you've even put it in your sig!
  13. Good find, Kresphy. Could this be some of the all-new CG animation they've been saying would be part of the UMD-Video that comes with the special edition of Ultimate Frontier? As for the PS2 game, I hardly remember anything about it. It was short yet still boring somehow, and I completed both TV and Movie campaigns in a few hours, never to play it again. Then again, I do not actually own a PS2 so I couldn't even if I wanted to.
  14. They used some triumphant track from MacF on Japanese TV when Obama was elected.
  15. Nice find! Yeah, I did actually read somewhere that it would be a Mikimoto cover. Also, Animate will offer an exclusive mini-poster of the jacket with each CD sold. I can't provide a source because I forgot where I read it, but, there you go. EDIT -- As for the tickets, I guess it depends where you get them, but the standard ones are printed right at the convenience stores so there's no image or anything.
  16. I only tried that recording thing a couple of times before, because the file sizes become huge. Hundreds of megs for just a few seconds, crazy. I planned to make some youtube vids, but I thought, screw that. On top of that, my PSP is crashing all the time recently, and I've barely had it for 10 months. Must.... last... until... Ultimate....
  17. To clarify, though, it may just be a provisional image. That's why I said "might". (Remember they always put 「仮」at the end of forthcoming titles, such as when Frontier (マクロスF(仮)) was in development)
  18. OK, well, if you're gonna go down THAT road..... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=30317
  19. See how no-one is talking about pachinko? Anyway, my opinion on the clips: Incredible. Seriously, the CG and the 2D art is done in such a way that you KNOW they've done their homework. They went back and used the same shading techniques, pretty much the EXACT colour palette... The character designs are almost identical to the original. This looks beautiful.
  20. There are no emulators, but if you have custom firmware, there is an application you can install on your PSP called RemoteJoy where you can hook up the PSP through USB and display the graphics on your PC monitor. As for translations, I think you can find them on Gamespot, Gamefaqs, etc. They are out there.
  21. Aquarion and Nadesico have pachinko games and I would say they're much more minor than Macross in terms of fandom, so I'm not really sure why this move would herald the "arrival" of Macross more than, say, Frontier music CDs almost topping the charts last year. One more thing, though. I was going to mention this when the images were still on the SCOOP thread, but I held back because of the no discussion rule. Do we KNOW all of this new animation is just for the Pachinko game? Because the Macross.jp site lists a lot of other forthcoming content and really it could be anything. It might even have just been animated purely for the design of the site. So I don't think it was a good decision to move the whole discussion surrounding the new animation to the Games forum, because, seriously, who the hell is going to talk about pachinko anyway? We're only really going to discuss those new cutscenes.
  22. This might be the cover of the new Fire Bomber album: http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20090829...n-musi.view-000 Smooooth.
  23. Keith, I've seen you spell both "Basara" and "Ore no uta o kike!" wrong in the last couple of pages, so I'd give the guy a break. As for this: Yeahhh.... I would say that Macross 7 is more like all orgasm without the sex.
  24. Thanks for the thread. Who is Chara? I never had any interest in a Mylene-only song where Tomo sang, so the new song on the "Mylene" version of the old single never appealed to me and I only got the Minmay version, which had a nice self-cover of Tenshi no Enogu. That's something else about this single I found odd. Shouldn't there be a B-side? I know at 600-odd yen it's really just fair to expect one song, but... I dunno. It would've been interesting to see five versions!! Or it could've been a mini album with 6 songs, 5 of them being "B-sides" with each singer.
  25. My choices: Alto: He hates being called a princess, yet refuses to cut his hair or at least take that silly ribbon off. And why is he aways angry? No explanation. Why are all the girls attracted to him? No explanation. Why is he so fascinated with flying? No explanation. Overall, there is no reason for him to be the main character of the show. He could have been the side "fruity" character and someone else taken us along the ride through the story and it all would have been much more enjoyable. Instead he's pretty much a spoilt heir to royalty whining about his life not being perfect enough. Sheryl: It was a tough choice between her and Ranka. I think it's her "Do you know who I am? I'm Sheryl Nome!!" that really disgusts me. "I'm the best and everyone loves me and you should be glad you're even within a mile of me and, oh crap, I'm dying, now you should feel sad for me..." Go cry me a river. Oh yeah, then she dressed up as Alto's mother and they slept together! Seriously... Issues??!?! Hello!? I guess those two spoilt idiots really are a perfect match.
