  1. Thanks, that clears things up! Nah, that's just the bonus pack's UMD video content that we've already mentioned. I doubt they would drop it. It sucks, I know, but most of these decisions are traditionally nonsensical.
  2. Did you not read what I wrote about Meisa?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--0RSz1Vvf4 Who gives a crap about spaceships. JEANS. To be fair, they are promoting the hell out of this on TV. As I type this, right now on TV Kimura Takuya is visiting the SDF and they are all saluting him and stuff.
  3. I had a quick glimpse at the magazine today in a convenience store. Apparently there is also going to be some special content where you can connect to "Playstation Home" and experience some Macross virtual theatre and participate in special events or something. I have no idea what Playstation Home is and can't be bothered to google it, but it seems like there are still some bonus features still to be revealed (the magazine said more details will follow soon). Yay?
  4. Will the PSP2 be backwards-compatible? Because if it is like the PSP-Go, you're screwed. I think MUF is STILL not on the PS Network, am I right? Bleah.
  5. From that website in the post above: OK, apparently this guy has written books and is considered an authority on Japanese movies somewhat. Be that as it may, he neglected to mention the real reason the 1st (of every month, in fact, not just December) is considered "Movie Day", and that is that movies are half price on that day. "Ticket sales are high" can mean they sold many tickets, not necessarily that the revenue from the sales was high. They aimed to release this movie on the first because ticket prices are lower on that day, so they figured they would sell more. OK, let us think about that for a while. When I heard the movie would be released on a Wednesday, I was confused. Why isn't it on a Saturday, as usual? Then I looked at the date and it made sense. The only message I got from that is that they had little confidence in their product. The Yamato Resurrection anime movie last year was a failure, and they understandably wanted some kind of insurance when banking on a high-budget movie which is not a romantic tale of a high school love-torn couple, one of whom is dying of some arbitrary illness, which is the basic template of a modern hit Japanese movie. Kids in Tears = Money. To most, Yamato is an alienating sci-fi ball of CG that people might not feel like bothering to see unless you slash ticket prices. That is why I would take that article and all other "wow" reports of "successful" openings and whatnot with a pinch of salt. Let us see if the movie is good or not. I personally think it looks good, Kim-Tak notwithstanding. Even if the rest of the film sucks, if someone can promise me several shots of Meisa in tight costume (even jeans -- no, wait, especially jeans!), I'm there. Also, I would point out that I'm guessing they had overseas distribution deals planned well in advance, probably back in the pre-production phase, because from what we have seen of Japanese consumption peculiarities, I would be flabbergasted if this type of movie made its money back in the domestic market alone. At the very least I know for a fact that many modern anime works like this these days.
  6. I should think one needn't bother with the Mihoshi stuff on the non-Frontier campaigns. That one screenshot on the famitsu site of the Armoured YF-24(or is it 25?) Prophecy looks great, though! Just a heads up, the special "Itsuwari no Utahime/False Diva" Pack will consist of the game plus an extra video UMD, similar to the "Nyan nyan Pack" of MUF. This time the goodies will include the entire MacF first movie, as well as a new CG movie plus some other extras. To be honest, most of the new stuff is a bunch of things I don't really care for so much, but what the hell, I might get it anyway. As usual I don't want to update the firmware, so I will have to find a new way of getting around Sony's stupid protection yet again. Then again, I've only used my PSP for music, reading books and watching movies for the past couple of months using official firmware, so whatever.
  7. Yamato and Bandai are marketing almost the same product to the same fanbase. Of course there are going to be comparisons.
  8. Wow, February is just around the corner. Hmm. I've got to check out that Famitsu issue now. Don't care about Mihoshi and EX-Gear stuff, but the Macross II content looks interesting. I wonder what other stuff they have crammed into the other campaigns, though (you know, REAL Macross! ).
  9. Damn. I forgot to send in the questionnaire postcard and the deadline was the 25th of November. Argh.
  10. RIP. I think his movies gave me the most fun for my money in terms of movies back in my younger days.
  11. But "we see" all of those things. I'm not sure why you accept as fact some visuals and disregard others.
  12. Your first sentence, which is stated as fact, is based on your second sentence, which is *purely* your own subjective interpretation of the visuals. I think this is a bit of a problem in your argument of how "Orguss02 spits in the face of the original ending".

    SCOOP thread!

Looks like a misprint to me..
  14. For a second I thought that this was about a Bandai "VF Hi-metal" toyline release of a VF2SS. Hmm. I wonder why that was.
  15. I'm wondering if that 19 sketch I've seen everywhere is by Tenjin, not Kawamori... The reason I say that is that I believe he is the one credited for re-styling the fighters. If the answer is in the text of all those scans, I'm afraid I haven't looked at it because this wonderful forum software insists on taking forever to load the pic using flash or something before you can actually save it. No offense to all who took the trouble of scanning the pages, though.
  16. Hey, it wasn't me who imposed the restriction. I was just pointing out that fact in response to "what threat of terrorism".
  17. While I agree in general that society in recent times has been raising gradually security precautions to the extent of imposing on the freedoms of the innocent, making us feel like sheep being reared into some overly tight pen, it doesn't hurt to be aware of WHY this is happening. Then we can pass judgement. Did you not hear about the parcel bombs intercepted in the UK and Dubai which were addressed to synagogues in the US?
  18. No Orguss? I like a couple of the non-Macross robots on the list, like the Dragonar, Layzner and maybe L-Gaim, but don't really care about the rest. When I had a brief go on the PS3 version at a store display, I thought the controls were not very intuitive and overall I didn't find it much fun...
  19. Well, that would be incredible. I've wanted to make those myself for a long time, but if they made special speakers I'd grab that in a split-second.
  20. That ain't blood, man...

    Yamato 1/60 VF-X

Five words and an out of focus photo? That's it?! You must be enjoying it... Edit -- Hey! You changed the photo! Sneaky!
  22. I never understood why, except for Mari, they all had to be shouting at the top of their lungs (seriously, they sound like they reach the limit of their souls), all of the time.
  23. OK, Episode 24. I think this was a Gamlin episode overall. I liked this episode, I was thinking a lot of the same things that have already been mentioned: Namely, the comparison between Hikaru and Gamlin. Their reaction to their subordinates' introduction are quite different. Hikaru is all about trying to impress the girl with his achievements in the military, while Gamlin is all about his devotion to his duty, which in turn effortlessly grants him the sympathy of the girl. I think that was quite well portrayed in this episode, and adds an extra bit of enjoyment if you have seen the original show. Gamlin is not just a carbon copy of Hikaru. Another thing is that we still see Sound Force struggling to keep it together in battle. They're not just instant heroes who get into their fighters, sing and save the day. They don't know what the hell they're doing! That's interesting to watch. Meanwhile, this episode also introduced the Gamlin/Docker rivalry that will be continue for a while. I was surprised to find myself really enjoying this one because I had thought it to be one of the more "nothing really happens"-type of episodes, but I'm glad that was not the case.
