God help me, I couldn't resist... Yeah, be aware that this is just that, a "wishlist", or rather a space for people to write requests for what they want Yamato to make. So you'll see things like Phalanxes and TV SDF-1s. I put the Orguss in there for good measure. The doodles in the bottom corner are explanations of the transformation 'cos me and this other guy were the only people who remembered that show.

Time for some visuals! The 1/2000 SDF-White-Chocolate version. Only 210,000 yen. The gang's all here. Playtime The wishlist! Tochiro's Haul of Fame Crowd control. Can you believe this many people stormed Akihabara just to get at the dirt cheap valks? Video coming soon!

If it really is a toss-up and you like both designs equally, I would suggest the VF-11. I have a green DX 27 but it's so floppy and loose that it's hard to pose it in any way at all now. It definitely is a vast improvement over the 25, and I'm very glad I got it, it looks cool and menacing, but it seems that all Bandais are destined to become floppy lumps of crap eventually. I got my VF-22 in the same week and it's as stiff as the day I took it out of the box.

I don't know, sorry

It's basically just a content breakdown of the extras on the third UMD if you get the triple pack. Most of it is Frontier-related stuff, but particularly interesting to me is the Kawamori talk session from the event at Tokushima in October last year, I was annoyed that I couldn't go and so I'm glad I'll be able to see it here. Apart from that, some CG stuff, some flash animations and some of the behind-the-scenes stuff which have already been featured in the DVD/Bluray editions of the movie (but I haven't seen yet).

Yeah, most of Stan Bush's stuff has been bland in recent years. Does anyone have the album "Stan Bush & Barrage"? Now, THAT is a kickass album, I am not ashamed to admit that I love it. "The Touch" is on it, and it's actually one of its weaker songs. "Heart versus Head", from "The Wraith" soundtrack, can also be found on there.

Yamato Toys are inviting the downtrodden plebian folk to hang around their offices and play with their toys for one day only this Sunday 23rd of January 2011! See the prototype of the new VF-19kai up close and personal, get a hands-on experience of the much-coveted 1/3000 SDF-1, and take part in raffles and other competitions to win stuff you would otherwise have to sell kidneys for! Details: http://www.yamato-toys.com/showroom/201101/index.html Map: http://www.yamato-toys.com/company/map.html They nicked this idea from MW-Con and one-upped us -- it's the Yamato 1/60 VF-1 time trial competition! http://www.yamato-toys.com/blog/index.php?logid=301 Don't miss this unique experience for us lowly dregs of society to mingle with royalty!

Why do you say that? While I'm not a fan of the style, I would say she's really quite skilled and has got the layout techniques figured out pretty well. -
Just confirmed that Tochiro will be joining us, too. Apparently we'll have the chance to (man)handle the 1/3000 SDF-1 there! I know it's not such a big deal for you big spenders who already have them, but for us lowly skint fans, it's a godsend.

I forget, was Valgo included in the new line-up? Hope we get "Nutter-Valgo" too! And if so, I hope they combine!
-
Thanks! I'll watch it later tonight.
-
Argh!! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, but I must look away...! I'll just be a git instead and point out that it's "deux", not "duex".
-
Thanks, as always. But of course, I missed it. Is there something wrong with using Youtube? I really am not a fan of live streams.

That's the old Emotion Japanese release. I always wanted those but they were prohibitively expensive. They look beautiful, I would get them if I found them cheap enough. In fact I think I did see one of the three boxes recently, but it was still priced high. The new remastered box set is much more affordable, plus the visuals of the show itself look like they are "supposed to". It's more of a preference of packaging design, for me. Although as the Lone Wolf says, you can get subbed Animeigo ones, even though they are like ten years old now. The remastering on that looks a bit too vibrant for my tastes. The box set I own is the Australian Madman release. As I understand it, they just licensed the Animeigo masters. That keeps me satisfied inasmuch as the physical owning of the show itself, plus it has that Ishiguro interview on it. However, as a collector, I would like to one day have either that DVD set or the LD releases.

JET7, I think you mean "figment", not "pigment"... Unless that was intended as a pun on the topic, in which case it's ingenious, congratulations. Further to Beltane70's answer, I remember a lot of people on these forums long ago debated the existence of "the cannon fodder valk" within the DYRL universe, since the standard issue brown scheme from the TV show was mostly missing except for this "Green Arrows" incarnation. So before Yamato really started cranking out the variants, some were really hoping for them to release Green Arrow valks in toy form eventually. We never did get one, although it's just as well since judging by the few responses to this, the interest in this squadron has pretty much died amongst the members here.

Just in case -- as there is usually some confusion -- the top pic of Minmay is done by Mikimoto, but the second one is done by Hideaki Shimada from Artland. The Millia one I've not seen before, it looks like it was fan-made on photoshop, but it is in a different style to BoB's works. EDITED because I put my text inside the quote box, somehow

My FP & Fold booster-equipped YF-19 was knocked off a shelf by the curtains on a really windy day onto hardwood flooring and shattered into a million pieces... but not a single piece was broken. Luckily, it was just a case of putting it back together.

I did actually think about trying that out, but those stickers seem too thick to ever look good on a toy that small. It does seem like they would fit, though... Maybe someday when I'm bored of the Hi-Metal, I'll try it and see how it looks.

No posts in over a week?? Damn. I guess I really killed all interest for this game, and I wasn't even that excited in the first place. Well, I saw the new Famitsu issue today, and there's much more that we haven't seen yet! Off the top of my head: -New "Survival Mode": You choose the era you want and then have to make it through wave after wave of enemies -New concentration lock-on mode; basically lets you lock onto a single target and unload your payload on that instead of lots of little targets like some of the missile types in the previous games -New "charge break" action: You can become invincible for a second if you find yourself in a tight spot and are taking damage, but this depletes your SP gauge Mecha: -EMILIA's Queadluun... Something! (Too lazy to go upstairs and search the proper name in the MaChronicle) -SNN Valk with Booster pack! -VF-19S with FAST PACKS (yes, the big fat ones!) -"Advanced Valkyrie"-style VF-9's (I think it's technically the "VF-X-10"?) -Metal Siren, if you like that kinda thang Damn, I'm sure there was more but I forgot. Glad I pre-ordered it. Now just got to go through the whole hassle of trying to get it to work on CFW or find a patch online... argh.

Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Renato replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Kawamori has said several times that the second movie would be an all-new story, so don't be surprised if it turns out that the Galaxy fleet are not even the enemies at all. -
That's odd... Your screencaps certainly seem to show that the red colour is the same for all the valks, but in my memory of watching the show originally, they were all a different shade. The VF-1 was a deep red (almost crimson), the VF-19 was a vibrant scarlet, and the V-22 was a soft red, almost borderline pink. I think Yamato did well to get the 22 the right shade as it appeared *in my memory*. I wonder why I'm seeing them all the same now. Maybe I'm going crazy.

I know exactly what you mean. My wife is learning Spanish, which is my mother tongue, and I really find it great that it opens up a whole new world for her, including learning Latin American recipes and culture, which exceeds the original motive, namely just being able to converse with my family. If you think of reading one manga as simply being the initial goal for learning a new language, that's OK, it needn't be the be-all and end-all, as it will invariably open up many more possibilities. Then again, let us not kid ourselves that expecting all Macross fans in the world to learn Japanese just because of HG is nothing more than a tale more fantastical than the entire plot of Macross The First itself. As for French girls, my experience was mostly hit-and-miss.
