Better sell it to me then

^The game surprisingly has some pretty cool paint schemes. I'm really liking the camo and standard grey a lot of the aircraft come in, it adds a touch of realism. Though I was again disappointed with the YF-30 when I found that it had no such paint scheme. An all black or low-viz paint job would have really aided it's stealthy looks, but alas it only gets paint jobs that look like they were sponsored by Hot Wheels. Hard to believe that the Macross universe is full of character "customs", yet the game to celebrate it's 30th doesn't let the player create their own custom paint scheme...

Just started my NG+ last night and was surprised that the completed races carry over. That's helpful because honestly who wants to have to do those again.? (not me) I gotta say though, the VF-30 (and even the 29 for that matter) is not what I'd call impressive. Both the 29 and the 30 just seem like half-hearted redesigns of the VF-25 with funky wings.

^This. It's very frustrating that you can be flying at top speed, but if you switch to battroid you stop instantly and drop like a rock.

^Yes, I was sorely let down to see that there were no urban environments in this game. The "cities" in M30 don't exactly have the same effect as flying through the buildings in the PSP games. I was really hoping for them to come up with some kind of mega city for this game with tons of skyscrapers and what not, so as to replicate some of the Macross Plus style dogfights. Here's to hoping they get the clue and give us some cool DLC maps at some point.

I think technically there is a way to "turn it off". In the hangar screen you can choose your support character. I imagine if you choose no support character then you won't have to deal with they're picture taking over your screen during SP attacks. You won't get their bonus, but who really needs it anyway.

It's true this game is really lacking in some areas compared to the PSP games. Some of the PSP maps even seemed bigger and I think you could even fly higher too. More and more I'm starting to see how rushed this game was, but it's still a blast. Even though there's only a limited number of quests and the ships don't respawn there's always an endless supply of bandits to fight. The shooting never stops!

Really? I find the rapid-fire missiles to always guarantee a kill. The guns are effective but I notice that even if your target isn't moving much, the target lock will stray, then you're just shooting air. However I did find a good strategy to barrage the target with gunpod+head laser that will wear down just about any target in a few seconds: While holding lock-on (L1 for Type-C controls) quickly release, then hold L1 again every second or so to reset your lock, then repeat. I notice that this ensures you are always working with a perfectly aligned lock-on. It's an easy way to stun your enemy and/or get critical hits.

Easy tiger, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Also I believe their are some rules about language on this forum...

I know, it's a shame. I've tried to watch it, believe me, I just can't get into any of the characters and Fire Bomber is intolerable to me. I'd rather be locked in a room with Shinji Ikari than have the endure 5 min of Basara

Anybody on here have the CF SV-51? I'd like to see some pictures up close, but all the pictures I see are the generic ones. An oil wash and some decals might really do that tan paint scheme some good.

If this were a PC game there would be hope for all kinds of possibilities. But being on PS3 nothing will ever happen. We'll be lucky if they even provide additional maps/planes as DLC.

Thanks again for your contributions. Would you (or anybody really) be able to translate some of the button combos? I remember how to do special attacks and what not on the PSP control scheme, but I'm at a loss on Type-C. In particular I remember there being a button combo you could press to close-in on your enemy (big boost directly towards your current target) but I can't seem to figure it out. It's a really helpful maneuver in battroid mode.

I'll second this, you're our reporter in the field! Very helpful indeed.

IIRC it's a hunter guild quest that has you destroy a certain number/type of Regult. It was really easy and I was disappointed I didn't do it sooner as the SS VF-0S is a big improvement over the other zeros.

What exactly do the food items do? Increase SP gauge?

One side note since I haven't heard anybody mention it is the Valk viewer in the hanger screen (press triangle I believe). I'm so glad they put a full 360-degree viewer in this game with nice transformation animations, it's much better than the viewer from the PSP games. I just bought a 55" Plasma last week and seeing all these valks rendered to perfection couldn't be more satisfying

Nothing illegal about playing back-ups of games that you've already purchased. It's like "jail-breaking" an iPhone.

Not True! I play Triangle Frontier on my Vita all the time. However the only way you can play these games on a Vita currently is through one of the exploited PSN games, allowing use of the TN firmware. At which point you can play your backed-up version of any UMD you have purchased. Contrary to popular believe, backing up your purchased UMB PSP games is legal, so is using CEF-TN though a purchased PSN game (I use Gravity Crash). Just don't distribute your back-up copy of your UMD, that's not fair to the developers who work hard on these awesome games! I was even able to transfer my 100% game save for Triangle Frontier over to my Vita. That game looks excellent on the Vita's screen. Other games I have tested are Gundam Battle Universe, Another Century's Episode Portable, Macross Ace Frontier, and Macross Ultimate frontier. If anybody needs help, just ask.

Hmm, I wonder if that means we can put dual laser cannons on the VF-171EX (?)
