You bring up some good points, Che. Making your story accessible to more readers has to be balanced with a sense of realism. Fortunately, as you said, the Macross world doesn't follow standard military lingo. I do my best to at least make sure that there's some semblance of military protocol and terminology in my writing. My prime demographic is fans of Macross; I don't write to casual sci-fi fans who maybe have a passing fancy in the series.

It took me a minute to find out what you were talking about, but I see it now. The problem with that button is that it doesn't filter out the different forums. There are some forums that I never visit because I'm not interested in seeing what's in there. Just not what I'm looking for, to be honest. What I'm talking about, though is a button near the thread's topic title in the sub-forum that will just take you to the last unread post inside of the thread. I don't want to have to sift through threads that I don't care for.

Yeah, that's the same one. You can see it on the west side of the 405 as you're approaching the 101 from the north. I didn't see it in T2. I did see where they did scenes in the drainage channels in Northridge. In one scene, you can even see a street sign in the background with the name "Plummer" on it. I lived right off of that street in Northridge.

Haha... is that the spillway near the 405-101 intersection in Encino, CA? I used to drive by that thing all of the time when I lived in the LA area.

I've been on this board for over a year now and since the last upgrade, I have failed to notice the little orange button next to a topic's title that will take you to the first unread post. The thing is so small, that I really didn't give it a second look. It's only been up until recently that I actually stopped to find out what it's for. All this time, I kept saying to myself, "I'm tired of trying to find the last post I read." The button was there all this time! Shameful, I know... Anyway, is there a way we can make the button a little easier to see and/or PRESS? It's tiny and obscure. Perhaps moving it to the right side of the topic title and expanding its size would be a useful modification to the board's overall look. Thanks!

Hah, I had no idea who Stephen Coonts was until you mentioned him in your review of my story a few weeks ago. I like your idea about using brevity codes. I'll go over that list and see if I can't add a few terms to my lexicon while writing future chapters. I've read a couple of fics where the author puts Sheryl into a cockpit. Just in my opinion, it doesn't really do well. Just seems out of character for her. I have yet to see any fics where Ranka is doing much other than just being cute and singing. I'll admit, I don't have any plans to do much more with her than that in my fic. It's something to think about, though. I haven't had a chance to do any writing or reading (I said I'd check out Banshee's fic, but haven't had time), but we'll see how things go this week. Piece of advice: try to avoid taking three summer classes and working part time. It's a brutal workload if you intend on getting good grades and keeping your bills paid up.

I already watched the trailer. Thanks for warning me ahead of time I didn't really see anything that spoiled the movie for me. There were a couple of things you can put two and two together for... like the reason for that mysterious red VF-1 seen at the end of the first movie. Most of it was a preview of what kinds of scenes you'll see when it comes out on DVD/BD. Of what was shown, it's difficult to draw conclusions of what was actually happening at that very moment.

lol... I love that scene, Keith. "You couldn't hit the ground with a turd!" "You think you bad?! You think you gonna get some bitches offa that? You think you gonna get some airplane p----??"

Slightly related, but isn't this how Doom's BFG-9000 got its expanded name? Not sure if the developers actually wanted it to stand for that phrase, but perhaps it was just created by fans for shiggles.

I noticed it too! That will be an interesting scene, no doubt.

Cool, thanks for the link, Banshee. I'll check it out this weekend. As for your question, read Starscream's fanfic and you might get clued in as to her identity. He linked it in his post earlier in the thread. It's a WIP and he's only posted a couple of chapters as a teaser so far, but you'll get an idea as to what's going on by the time you finish reading what's up there.

The computer and electronics super geek thread

I've been using WD on my personal computers for years and I've never had one fail on me. -
What, you don't think that we'll have the ability to construct those kinds of things at some point in the future? This movie is set in present-day, and we're nerd-raging over the complete violation of the laws of planetary motion. Deal with it
-
I don't remember. I only remember Gary Busey playing the religious nutjob who suicide-bombed the first construct. Contact was good until the ending... lol. It really knocked things down several notches. It went from "pretty good" to "okay". I agree, this movie looks like it's gonna be a giant yawn-fest.

After reading this, I was immediately reminded of "Contact".

Yeah, I was trying not to let the physics geek in me get out to respond to this one. So far, he's been easy to suppress. This is one of those cases where you'll have to just ignore things like that to even have a chance at enjoying the story.

I loooove the NUNS uniforms in all of the series. The uniforms in Macross F are no exception. Ranka looks pretty good in one! My compliments to the artist. Are you planning on updating with any new text soon? Nanashi, are you Aurel Tristen from the Aria site? You are using the same avatar...

Are these posters for after the coup d'etat?
-
I remember one of the first things I caught in the background of Starcraft 2, were these propaganda posters that said "Protecting you from yourself". I pointed it out to my brother as the mantra of a totalitarianist government. Might be something you'd want to use in another poster, perhaps?
