Didn't the VF-X game version have the same paint scheme, or nearly so, as the version we see Hikaru flying in FB 2012? Also, I've been meaning to ask this, but does anyone have size comparisons between the VF-4 and the rest of the valk line up? I know what the VF-4 looks like, but I really would like to see how it stacks up against the other valks. I really don't want to spend over $300 on a valk that is the same size as the VF-1.....a size closer to the VF-11 would be better (although it's not that big of a difference).

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

I thought you have to lift the cockpit assembly up from the nose in order for battroid transformation...? -
It would be awesome if this was ready for release in February. The vf-4 began official production in February of 2012 in the Macross world. Why not the real world as well? Haha, I would think pre-orders will open up sometime in February at least.... :/

Actually, I've heard that the SV-51, outside of the ivanov, was truly the first macross toy you could buy from them without fear of it crumbling away in your hands right out of the box. Of course, Yamato has come a long way since then though, with toys you can actually manhandle now...

As for the whole top heaviness issue, have you guys seen the feet of the Vf-4? They are pretty blocky, meaning that I'm fairly confident that regardless of top heaviness, it will work. Also, about the gun pod: I did just read that the VF-4 does have under wing pylons, which means that I'm sure Yamato could take advantage of placing a gunpod mount, regardless of whether it is canon or not. Just a thought! Edit: I'd be in for a battroid cockpit access hatch as well. Think that is a really cool feature on the VF-19, and wouldn't mind it for the VF-4 either. Easily a selling gimmick for me...

I'd be in for a low viz, but I am really gunning for a max or skull leader paint scheme. Also, depends on how much this thing costs. Since "more news" is coming in February, is that when everyone expects pre-orders to open up on this thing?

Yeah, I would suspect that they would make it in the skull leader scheme, as it is the most iconic.... MAYBE a max or miria afterwards, but the way some of their other less iconic valks are selling, I doubt it.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

^Holy Cow, $280 shipped???!! Where, where? I'd swoop one up at that price. HLJ is $287 BEFORE shipping -
Ummm.....just wondering, but does the VF-4 actually have a physical....gun? I was wondering cuz I have never seen one, and I had always assumed that the little guns in the engines were the primary armaments of the VF-4. A gun would be totally cool though. Also, am I the only one wondering why Yamato is going through with this even as a websclusive? I mean, would such a limited run warrant an entirely new mold? If anything, I can only see a possibility of two outcomes: 1) A reasonably priced (by that, I mean like 250 - 300 dollars) toy, but of shoddy quality or engineering. Basically, meeting the bare minimum. 2) An unbelievably beautiful toy with gimmicks galore and PT like you've never seen before [that rhymed ]. Most likely will prompt you to cry in utter joy while you throw your VF-19's out the window in disbelief that you once thought that battroid cockpit hatch was a well engineered feature. Also will most likely cost 600 dollars. I dunno, but I can't see a really awesome toy being made at a reasonable price. Then again, I have been known to be a Negatron. What do you Optimist Prime's out there think?

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
Archer replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I know, I too expected a drop, but not THIS soon. It has only been like 6 months or so since the kai came out. and it wasn't just a small price drop either, it was 4000 yen. That's like 60 dollars off of the cover price. Well, whatever, I don't mind If they can throw up the VF-19S at that price, I'll buy immediately -
I'm guessing 25,000+ as a toy, 40,000 as a resin kit, probs around 50,000 as an HDP kit. Since it's Yamato, you might as well throw on a few thousand yen to all those predictions as well.

I don't know about reliability, but I agree with you on battery power. I'm fairly sure my iPhone battery is leaking, but I can't access it to see or anything, thanks to Apple's insistance on not allowing consumers to get into the internals of the phone >_> It sucks cuz now my iPhone's operating span before it dies is only like 7 or 8 hours at full charge, where a friend of mine with the same phone, who bought it at the same time as me, can go 11 hours at half charge- 50 replies

Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
Archer replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I agree with Jenius in terms of his review. At the MSRP that this thing is going for, I'd rather get another VF-1 or something. Also, did anyone else get a little concerned when the VF-19 was thrown up on sale at HLJ? Doesn't that kind of mean that it's not selling all that well, and stock isn't moving? I hope this doesn't mean that future models get pulled or anything. I sold my VF-19, and am keenly waiting for a VF-19F or VF-19P.... -
I would imagine that building this would be a nightmare, especially if it was a resin kit....

Awesome pics Graham! Thanks for those! I know you have a slight preference in terms of design towards the VF-17, but if you had to go back, and could only buy either the VF-17 or VF-19S by Yamato, which one would you choose, knowing you prefer the VF-17 design? I ask this because I too like the VF-17 design, but you happened to mention that you think the VF-19S is a better "toy". Also, does the cockpit hatch open in battroid mode? -
I've wanted this particular design for a while, but I have absolutely no modelling experience whatsoever. *sigh*, even in victory, I am inevitably defeated. I am gonna cry myself to sleep with the prospect of this being a model. Yamato, plz go back to making toys!!

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Archer replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That entire scene (the climb) is shot really well, as is most of the movie, and there really are great transitions between all the locations. I never felt like the team was travelling to other places just for the purpose of traveling to other locations. What blew my mind, though, was the really creative gadgets used in the movie, which, maybe 5 - 10 years from now, I could totally see being real. Finally, if anyone doesn't like BMW or Apple, avoid this movie! Seems like they made a deal with Apple and BMW, as all the cars featured, whether new or old, are all bmw's, and ALL the gadgets have an apple product, whether it is an iPhone or an iPad 2, incorporated. I like both of those things, so I didn't mind- 50 replies

Saw it, and just plain loved it! Great movie all around, and I'm not even that big of a M:I guy either. That BMW concept car made the movie for me though, even more so than the great acting and plot. It was just that cool....- 50 replies

I'm tempted to cancel that pre-order after hearing Graham's review. Only a 7/10 for a toy that costs more than the awesome VF-19!!?? I might just go with it in blind faith of Yamato though.... -

Archer replied to charger69's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, I know I'll get flamed for this, but at nearly $50 - $60 more than the VF-19, I can't see where the value went besides the market compensation that there are less versions and appeal for this particular model to sell (thus, the requirement for a higher price to balance it out). Not even tampo printing?? And honestly, we've barely seen pics of this thing and it comes out next week Why?? By now with the VF-19 release, we had transformation vids already!! -
VF-11b and VF-11c are both removed from the sale listings. I saw that the VF-11b was in low stock, so I planned to buy it today morning. I check again, and boom, it's back in stock, but at full premium price. Heh, at nearly 19000 yen, I'd rather drop that much for a new VF-19 instead

So, since this is being released on the the 28th, what's HLJ's usual turn around time in terms of getting pre-orders shipped and out to customers? Sorry for the nooby questions, but I've never pre-ordered anything before [always buy after release]. This might be my first pre-order, but I'm only on break till the 6th of January. I would LOVE it if the figure got to my doorstep before classes started again on the 7th . -
So, can the heat shield be deployed in fighter mode as well? That would be a first if it could..... Also, how loose is the cockpit on this thing? I just ordered one, and I am one of those *play around* types who barrel rolls their figthers and what not. Barrel Rolls aren't that fun when part of the toy keeps falling out...

Haha! I was about to click the order button on the VF-22, but those pictures convinced me otherwise. Gonna pick up an 11b instead thanks to Eugimon and CDX's review! If that -11b is bad though, i'm gonna pin it on you Eugimon!
