I hate to say it, but it looks a LOT like the RX-78-2 --> Zeta --> ZZ Gundam progression, down the gimmicks....

I would think that playing Uncharted 3 for the gaming experience alone would be worth it, but if you want to get the most out of it, I would suggest either hunting down one and two first, or at least reading the wiki about them. That should make a few plot elements make more sense. Great standalone game though... Also, thanks a TON mikeszekely!

For those with Uncharted 3, the Starhawk beta went up live a few days ago I believe for early access. Unfortunately, I bought my Uncharted 3 copy used at gamestop, and it did not come with the promotion code for starhawk. Oh well, have to wait a few more weeks I guess...

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002
Archer replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks for the heads up SuperHobo! Do you know anything about yellowing issues with GFFMC's, especially this origin one? I have flourescent light bulbs in my room pointed away from the figure, but does the origin (other metal composites as well) have paint or top coats to protect against it? And is there a lot of danger of yellowing in general, even with top coats or paint? Thanks!- 6025 replies

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002

So, I just recieved my Metal Fix Figuration Gundam origin from GG infinite, and as a newcomer to GFFMC (GFF in general), I thought I'd post some of my thoughts. First of all, when i opened up the GG Infinite package, I was a little disappointed straight up front as the limited edition Origin booklet did not come with mine (as it should have come with all the first batch releases), but oh well, what can ya do? Then, I opened up the package and found pure gold. I thought the figure was a little insubstantial at first, but then picked it up and FELT the heaviness of it. You can tell that it isn't called METAL composite for nothing. Pure awesome! Moving around and testing the joints out, they seem to be overly tight, but that is probably just due to the fact that the toy is brand new (and this is mainly in the hip joints area). Also, the ankle covers were a little too loose for my own preference, but whatever, it's just a nitpick. The detail is phenomenol, and even the smallest of tampo printings were clean cut and classy Honestly though, I was so impressed that I even forgot about all the extras that it comes with, and just stuffed them back in the box until tomorrow, and simply displayed the clean cut figure on my desk (the only toy I display on my desk). Maybe I'll do some cool poses and stuff tomorrow. Simply put, the detail, substantialness (if that is a word), and amazing articulation of the figure almost brought tears to my eyes (metaphorically of course), and I stood in wonder of why I never bought any previous GFFMC releases. I will be hunting more down now, and the solidarity of the figures has encouraged a well needed movement away from Yamato's fragile valkyries (which I'm too afraid to play with or pose a lot) to the world of Gundam....- 6025 replies

Speaking of all this, does anyone notice that zeheart(spelling?) seems to look a LOT like Wolf? I wonder if there is some hidden relation between the two characters...

How bout all that in good o'l 1/48 scale so that it's decently sized, and kills all other toy tech to date (and it won't cost $600 )

Yeah, 3D glasses really just didn't flow well with me. I have a 52 inch Bravia XBR, but 3D still looks like crap, and playing with it on puts you at a HUGE disadvantage gamewise, with everyone that is not plyaing 3D kicking your butt. And putting glasses over my glasses isn't fun at all (and the glasses are EXPENSIVE). tbh, 3D just seems like a gimmick that will die very quickly. As for the PS3's 10 year life span, really? I haven't heard that before. I heard some rumors that a *PS4* was set for sail in 2014 to early 2015? I don't know, but it seems logical to make a move by the then. I think Sony is gonna try to correct their mistake from last time, specifically getting into the game way too late, and having to trek lost time. It's a good thing they were riding the momentum of the PS2, but a lot of launch screw ups really hurt them. I'm guessing that they will strike first into the 4th generation, and reap the benefits...

I've been waiting for Versus XIII since the day the announcement was made, being both a big fan of action-RPGs and a HUGE fan of Kingdom Hearts (with Versus made by the same studio). All I can say is that I hope Versus is released before the PS3 dies, and they'll have to trek all their work on to the PS4.... To be honest though, and I've been meaning to ask this for sometime, what's really left in the video game world that can be incorporated into the fourth generation consoles (PS4, xBox 720? lol, Wii U Mi Him). We've already seen some amazing advancements in visuals, immersive gameplay, and great online community interacitivity. I can't really see where else they can improve short of virtual life gaming...

Well, I'm a little late, but I did end up getting Gundam Dynastry Warriors 3. I did not have the second game in the series, so this was a big jump for me. I've only played the game for a few hours, but I have a few positives about the game, but a few gripes as well. As for positives, the cel shaded graphics, addition of TONS of new mobile suits and series, etc. was really great. The gameplay mechanics are really cool as well. My gripes are a little more long-winding though. First of all, I really like the way the game was set up in Gundam DW 1, meaning that if you wanted to play through a character's' story arc, then you just click on him and everything progresses. Also, in the original mode of DW 1, each character had his own set of missions. In DW 3, every TEAM has its own story, so if I finish the entire story with Amuro, then playing as any of his other team members would kind of be boring as it's just the same missions over again with just a differens suit. Also, I feel as though the official mode of DW 1 was a LOT better than these cruddy history missions in DW 3. As far as I can tell, they don't do a great job of following up with the story (In DW 1, the official mode was almost spot on to the actual anime story) and the fields don't really correlate well with locations as well (Fighting Ramba Ral in some weird factory?). Finally, the interactions between characters is pretty cruddy as well (In DW 1, they actually talked to each other about rational stuff that made sense storywise). In DW 3, it just seems like everyone is spewing their own idealistic "we need to change our hearts" crap without paying attention to each other at all. I don't know, but I'm getting the feeling that DW 3 tried to make an allusion of having more substance while actually taking away a lot of it. I guess I just liked the way DW 1 flowed more....

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, they do seem to overprice some things, but the Metal Composite Gundam Origin was only $165, which is a lot cheaper than other places that I saw (like evilBay). Looks like I also got the last one, as the item went from being in stock to out of stock following processing of my order. Unfortuntalely, it looks like I won't get my order by saturday though. They sent me an order processed message two days ago, but I've yet to recieve shipping notification (and they take sat/sun off), so the earliest they will be able to ship will be monday >_> *sigh*- 6025 replies

^Well said (I agree actually), but I've hearding that groaning and moaning by the infamous MW has actually helped change some inaccuracies in the past in previous molds (The Vf-11b is the one that sticks out in my mind I think?) So let them be heard!

1 CAD image = nearly 2 pages of, dare I say, heated debate and personal attacks over small hinges and small divergences from the line art. I can't wait to see what happens when the resin prototype pics go out

Well, after a long wait, I finally placed my order for a GFFMC origin gundam, just like I mentioned a few posts ago. I ordered from GG Infinite (who had a decent price), but I've never ordered from them before. Any of you guys tried them out before? I recieved three emails from them so far, one telling me my new account info, one giving me an order receipt, and one telling my that my order has been processed. This all seems a bit different from HLJ (the only other store I really use), as I don't know what they mean by "processed". I hope that means that my order is ready to go though, as I ordered 2-3 day shipping, and I am hoping it will get here by saturday. Well, we'll see I guess- 6025 replies

Yeah, I guess I can see that as well. I mean, if you think hard about it, it could be a zaku, but the freakish proportions, random BFG, and the worst of it all, two eyes instead of one, do make it quite the digression from your standard zaku. I wonder why he went about it like that when so much more money could be made from doing it like they are doing Rex right now. And GU-11, I've heard that they've confirmed a Ray in the future...
-
Hmm, really? Most of the aftermarket sellers I see are selling the zaku for quite near, or even under its 3A selling price of $330. Wonder what's going on there...
-
Didn't want this thread to die! Anymore news on this thing, those that are more affiliated with 3A toys than I am (If I buy this, it would be my first). Gah, didn't they say Janurary pre-order?!

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie
Archer replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Yeah, it's the first i've heard of this problem. How did the Vf-25 renewal improve upon it? I thought the yf-29 was pretty solid when it came to fighter mode.. -
I've never watched RahXephon, but I've heard it's a lot like evangelion. Is that true? I didn't enjoy evangelion all that much, but this looks somewhat interesting...

I feel horrendously bad for those that dropped the crazy shillings on one of these, even used, at around $400 +, even more with super packs. To think that if they had waited a few days, news that would save them $200+ would come out. I wonder if those eBay sellers and other inflated merchandisers will now cut their crazy prices a bit more down to size... -
^ I thought about that too, but I really think the model kit isn't *that* bad for the MG unicorn. But yeah, i'd be down for a GFFMC unicorn full armor version. I wish the GFFMC did cockpit and pilot detail though, as there are some cool poses i like to do with that...

^Haha, so your choice place of toy opening and discovery was the bathroom Jk, but that is a really great shot!
-
I know the YF-21 did it, but would that whole nose fold under business really work that well on the VF-4? I mean, the nost is a lot thinner, and I would presume that the cockpit is a bit deeper, so it might not be feasible.
