I feel the metal build design, for whatever reason, works better with Unit 2, but I'm personally more attached to the iconic unit 1 so I had to go with that.

I’m kind of scared this is going to be Arcadia’s last hoorah (and I really hope it isn’t). Seems like things have slowed down on their end. It would be a shame if they had to stop after effectively engineering the basis of modern macross toys (during the Yamato years). Amazing to think how far things have come from the Masterpiece Veritechs that got me into collecting (and how panned those were)

I went ahead and pre-ordered one from HLJ. Missed out on the Yamato offerings back in the day cause I was too young to afford them. Don't want to make the same mistake now.

Went ahead and pre-ordered the Max 1A on NY. Want to have at least one of these in my collection, but man, $280 is a lot to stomach

Red Dead Redemption 2. Coming 10/26/2018.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2018-10-25-the-human-cost-of-red-dead-redemption-2 While I realize game development "crunches" are pretty standard affair, Rockstar seems to one of the worst. I bought and will likely enjoy RDR2, but I definitely won't be putting Rockstar on any pedestals. I'm in med school, and surgeons often put in >80 hours a week, but they also get compensated with salaries that exceed half a million dollars a year. To be worked to the bone like this without adequate compensation, regardless of how much you love the job, sounds malignant.- 34 replies

I'd be so very on board with a MB Justice or GP-01, but y'all know it's gonna be something nobody wanted

Gundam Figure Thread - Newtype GN-002

They really need to do a metal build Justice or Aegis. It's just begging for the metal build treatment and would easily sell hotcakes. I still don't understand how the astrays got metal builds but not the Justice.- 6025 replies

Looks like Entertainment Earth is now also sold out of the Crossbone. As an aside, I cancelled my pre-order for the MB Eva with them, so it may pop back up for those who missed it. If they were to do a Full Cloth variant (i.e. the Skull Heart), I'm presuming it would be a whole new figure since the torso would have to be re-tooled correct?

I grabbed on From Japan for 27,800 yen prior to shipping. Who knows how much I'm gonna get dinged for shipping/fees though. Which screws are the ones that should be loosened prior to transformation? TIA

Thanks so much for the explanation! I might go ahead and hunt one down given there's no glaring issues :)

Wow, the Amazon JP reviews are very negative; not a single five star review and most are 1 star reviews. Can a native speaker give a gist of what the issue is? Google translate isn't helping me all that much.

I'm glad they incorporated the removable cockpit block; still unsure about that parrot though

Fair point, but look at the metal build eva (23k yen) and FMP stuff (also 20k+ yen) Wouldn't it be the opposite then (since Bandai owns Sunrise and by proxy all Gundam properties, while it has to pay Big West royalties for stuff like the YF-19? So wouldn't that mean the YF-19 should be even more expensive (not that I'm endorsing this )
-
A little off topic, but got me thinking. Stuff like the YF-19 comes with loads of equipment, has a fairly complex transformation sequence with small moving parts, etc. How come something like a metal build gundam or eva costs the same (and sometimes even more)? Is it cause they have more metal?
-
These toys probably aren't cheap to produce, and some of them don't sell that well I think (the arbalest and leavatein from FMP come to mind, they're available everywhere), which probably leads to small production quantities to start. What boggles my mind is why Bandai doesn't want to produce more of uber popular merchandise like the Strike Freedom or Eva.

That's basically a mass production eva with a purple re-color Glad they shut that idea down

QFT right here. I feel a lot more people would be able to participate if it was just easier to purchase the darn things at normal retail price. All it takes is a quick peek at eBay with $400+ pre-orders to see that some people have turned the hobby into a side-business.

I've read in the past that this is the reason. Since Bandai only does 1/100 or 1/60, the 1/72 scale helps to get around copyright issues.

They still put a hold on the funds is my understanding?

Either Eva is waaaay more popular than I thought or Bandai purposefully made a lower production number than their Gundam metal builds. I think I’m just gonna stick with CDJapan in the future. I don’t mind paying upfront if it means at least having a shot at getting one.
