Yep, I don't know about battroid, but gerwalk and fighter modes look beautiful to me, even better than my new vf-171ex. i think, for the most part, the v.1 VF-27's do a very good job of representing the mecha, although a new renewal could do it some more justice in battroid modes.

I think Nippon Yasan still has them available (at reasonable prices too). It's REALLY weird but so far, as far as I can tell, they've filled everybody's orders so far. Weird when other retailers could barely keep up with them. So yeah, the moral of that is to go with NY for not crazy 260 - 290 USD level prices for the vf-171ex.

I really wish they did an Ozma, but it kinda makes sense why they didn't. This color scheme just seems to be the same as alto's but a switch in basic color palette. Ozma's paint scheme might have required more modification for paint and a new head sculpt, etc. Either way, I'm not really big on this.

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Archer replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Watching "Trigun" right now. A really nifty and light hearted series, and I especially like cowboy-esque series like this one. Part of the reason why I was drawn to it and Gun X Sword as well. Really liking the english dubbing for Trigun as well, it's nice to watch a series without having to constantly read subtitles in a while. Might check out "Cowboy Bebop" after this since people say that it's just as fun and with the same cowboy themes. Anyone got insight into this? -
I gave up transforming my 171. I just can't bring myself to do it. Every time I try, I feel like I'm gonna force something and it will break. So yeah, gonna leave in fighter till everything losses up a bit...

At the conclusion of the previous HLJ sale (before this one) that included the VF-11b (way back in December), the VF-11b was listed at full price, and a short while thereafter, listed as out of stock and discontinued. Yet some stock once again made their way back to the discount pile. I wouldn't be surprised if some stock made it to sales once again, if anything else, the -11c in place of the -11b. Just my $0.02 though

It's around 145 USD on ishop2go, which is nice compared to retail price

Got mine. Couldn't finish the transformation cuz the knees were so tight that I couldn't extend them. Put back in fighter mode and that is how it will stay for a while. Don't mind though since its the best display mode for me

So, like the Yamato -17, is the cockpit accessible in battroid mode?

You'll probably get it. If what NY say is true, they have a live update system that only makes available what's in stock. Kinda crazy that NY has endless extras while HK sellers couldn't even get a single one....

The computer and electronics super geek thread
Archer replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The way apple does it is with an "optimal screen" setting which automatically adjusts the screen to blow up any non-retina images to take up the same screen area as if on any other notebook. Therefore, the same images are blown up across more pixels which ultimately makes non-retina programs like google chrome, etc. look edgy and jagedy. Putting the notebook in "actual pixel" setting eliminates this problem by giving the images the same amount of pixels as on any other laptop, but this makes the images really tiny on the screen, so it's really not that great of a solution. So yeah, you are really kind of stuck with Apple's retina optimized programs such as Safari at the moment. With Mountain Lion and retina optimized games like Diablo III coming out soon though, it looks bright in terms of future progression. And for people like me, who have needs limited to web browsing, image editing, word processing, and gaming from time to time, it's perfect. If you are a program wiz that tends to use stuff all over the board, then you might want to wait till third party developers start converting to retina tech.. -

A little off topic to the discussion at hand, but my Retina Macbook Pro came in today. For those wondering about how it stacks up, here are some of my thoughts: -It's REALLY REALLY thin. Pictures made it seem thin, but when I got it in hand, I was still blown away by how thin it was. My old HP HDX 16 laptop is laughably thicker than this thing. -With all the electronics stuffed inside (I got the lower end version with upgraded 16 GB RAM), it is pretty fast while retaining cool temperatures. I did notice that the mac began to heat up to the touch as I pushed the limits with upper boundaries on more graphic intensive games (which also promptly drank the battery life). -The Retina display, more than anything else, is the reason to buy this thing. If you think a 1080p HD resolution screen looks good, than wait till you see a retina screen. It's almost as if the images are painted onto the screen. Also, there is actually noticably less glare on the screen compared to other laptop screens that I own. Overall, after a quick day of use (not tooo much time to mess around with it), I'm REALLY happy to have it. My older laptops are a joke compared to this thing, and I urge anyone who is into apple products, powerful laptops, or just a great design aesthetic coupled with a GREAT screen to buy this thing. It's not cheap, but I'm fairly happy in my purchase. As a notable PC owner (with few apple products), this is one of the few apple products that I own where I don't feel gutted for something just for the brand name. -
The Amazing Spider-Man, on Blu-Ray/DVD Nov. 9, 2012

True, the film opened very well here in India (I'm on vacation), beating out the avengers opening by a large margin. Then again, spiderman is much more widely recognized here than any avenger character... -
How long did it take for you guys who ordered from NY to get a tracking URL after the shipment notice. I was affirmed that my order was shipped today morning, but have yet to receive a tracking URL...

The Amazing Spider-Man, on Blu-Ray/DVD Nov. 9, 2012

Just saw it. Great movie all around. Don't go in expecting dark knight, as it's more on the popcorn flick side of things. Faster pacing than the older Toby version, but you will definitely feel the de ja vu. Vastly different story and values though. Not really specifics as much as overall feel things, but I spoiled tagged the following anyways. Good movie all around though. -
Well, those that had reservations about Nippon Yasan couldn't have been more wrong. Remind me to place all future MF DX orders there. Ordered the VF-171 from them at 200 USD not two days ago and i got a processing notice today. Fairly shocked to be able to buy a bandai this late in the game for sub eBay prices! Can't wait to get it!

I actually had a dream in which Yamato surprised us with a dual release of Yellow and Fuke (no joke ). Then I realized it was only just a dream. I need to go outside or something

Well, since Nippon Yasan didn't stop taking orders this late in the game, I'm assuming their either really confident in getting a large stock (haven't heard them failing to deliver yet, even with the YF-29), already have confirmed large stocks, or didn't get to many orders when they had such an inflated price. Either way, at a steady $200 as compared to the $260+ that others here paid, I decided to go ahead and pre order and paid up front. Hopefully I get it, but if not, meh This will be my first modern Bandai (after -27), so I'm excited to see how it turns out, especially with the new designer!

That makes me wonder a bit. Why are dealers putting up with bandai's "worse than online exclusive mass release" practices when it is clear that they themselves are taking a lot of hits themselves, be it monetary or rep wise. I'm not saying they are completely out of fault (taking so many orders is a bit careless), but I would have thought that more retailers would begin to dispute things, wait till stock is completely confirmed like HLJ, or stop carrying pre orders altogether like BBTS....

Well, bought a new retina display MacBook pro for college use. As a historic PC owner but Mac supporter and enthusiast, I hope it is good! -
What's happening with Bandai's factories as of late? Is someone setting fire to every other building to troll or something....
