    I would be interested to know how the video quality compares to the home media releases and if the subs are an improvement.

    At what time of the year does Sunrise typically start releasing teaser trailers for their upcoming animes?

    The color does look different. It pops out a bit more. Still looks a bit blurry on certain scenes. I know that YouTube doesn't do it justice but on one of the comparisons, it does look a bit worse. I'm happy they are finally releasing it in 4K and possibly in HDR, don't know if it also has a new audio mix. But this looks to be the final version of DYRL that I am ever going to buy. If the subs turn out bad then I guess I'll remux it with fansubs. Guess this is the closest we'll get to a western release.

    Am I the only one that thinks the fonts used for the logos are really bad? How does the quality compare to the Blu-ray releases?

    It's nice that Macross Plus finally has a Blu-ray release outside of Japan but I don't see what the major improvements are over the Japanese Blu-ray that I already own. Going forward, if I don't see it at least having 4K, HDR (at least for SDFM through the Macross 7 OVAs) and Dobly Atoms, I see no reason on re-buying them again. I'll just stick to watching them on Disney+ or wait till the price falls below $20.

    I thought I should give it a try and the results were not what I expected. It randomly crashes, resolution scaling doesn't work, frame rate can dip to the low 20's and frame time can reach into the hundreds.

    Hopefully whenever Disney decide to make it available for streaming, that they choose the best quality version for each entry. Like using the recently released Zero Blu-ray over the older version. I doubt they will update Macross 2 source when the Blu-ray comes out. Here's hoping that Disney doesn't crop the video.

    If you were to tell me that Disney would be our savior, I would of called you crazy. But I can't really complain since it looks like they are finally doing something. I still prefer to buy the Blu-rays, whenever they're finally release. Could this possibly mean that upcoming Macross series might be Disney+ streaming exclusive?

    It is nice to see them have a 4K release. Strange to see the western version being possibly better than the Japanese version. I wish that all future Macross releases will be in 4K. But personally, I would much rather see the addition of HDR than 4K.

    Perhaps the word forgettable can be seen as harsh. After all I do remember most of the music. Who here doesn't? I do enjoy Macross's BGM more than its songs. The vocal tracks at times feel held back, maybe due to marketing, time or maybe it just the nature of major labels in japan. Now that I think about it, I don't even know what Kawamori's creative process even is when considering the music on a new Macross. How involved is he in the musical process? If this next macross series is going to focus a bit more on the western market. I wonder what effect will it have on its music. Would it try to copy or get inspired by current American or European popstars.

    I don't think any of the Macross music so far has been bad but all together it is forgettable. Frontier is probably the best so far due to its vocals and musical variety. I don't know what to expect of the next Macross in terms of music. I know that some people might say that Macross won't repeat itself but I don't think that is true. Macross will do what they think is right for its time. Macross has always been Pop, in the traditional sense. I'm just hoping that this time around Pop means something R&B-esque.

    The next Macross needs to have a matured singer with a much more powerful voice. JUNNA was okay, May'n was good but it always felt like something was missing. I'm not asking for someone on the same vocal levels as Mariah Carey for example, though that would be great but something close or similar to it. I don't know many Japanese composers, so I don't know who can make great pop music. Maybe the next Macrons can have multiple composers and musical style.

    I'm just hoping for great writers this time around. This upcoming series needs to fix, what I believe are their three biggest problems of last two series. Which is the lack of a well written antagonist, proper tactics and the use of deus ex machina. The romance should move away from being a love triangle.
