Given that the other Destroids are: Monster, Defender, Phalanx, and Spartain, I would carry the Greek theme with Achilles or Ajax... but that's just me 'Tis a gorgeous bit o' work Nyanko, whatever you call it!
-
usually not. If you were going for ultra-gloss like a car or candy finish maybe.
-
Very nice. your 31 is coming along nicely Derex. Well... a $200 bill for paint and a couple odds-n-sods are on their way... soon my dig to the bottom of Mount 'Look at all these un-built kits!' shall commence

Dance, then, wherever you may be, for I am the Dancing Valkyrie. And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, for I am the dancing Valkyrie

Apparently the place I was going to order my Mr Color paints from no longer ships to glorious Canuckistan... so I'm currently building a list of Vallejo matches... She's Красивый!
-
It looks like it was developed as a Glaug-killer...
-
it'd be my D'Agostini Falcon that I could never have afforded either... but I'd sacrifice for one of those!
-
Wow, amazing work. Hope the maker puts it on shapeways or someplace for the rest of us mere mortals!
-
not bad ideas you could also give that area a very light fine-grit sanding to get rid of the excess red.

Granted, it's not INSANELY high for an MSRP From what I understand, you get a lot of extra stuff included in a $230 Hot-Toys 1/6th figure...Doesn't sound comparable to the included figure/statue. We could have a discussion for up to $1000 USD... speakers are neither here-nor-there for me, so take them out and save everyone some moolah; 'some assembly required' would likely knock the price-point down some more, and I'd be fine with that in exchange for taking the wallet sting down a bit more. I'm a modeler, not a toy collector; this is my personal opinion, completely uninformed by the toy market or it's trends, so I may well be WAY off-base here Another [personal] gripe: All that raised riveting sticks out like this thing was bolted together in a Soviet Tank [Ex-Tractor] factory circa 1942... for that amount of money that incorrect/absurd detail is unacceptable... no "gritty realism" argument to be had here, this is an unobtanium-technology level, Mach 3+, endo/exo-atmospheric Fighterplane sheathed in "SWAG energy conversion armour"... that transforms into a humanoid combat robot to fight giant humanoid aliens... RIVETS?!? Again, modeler, and I'm not usually a 'Rivet Counter' but this is an egregious case in my opinion... Then there's that shipping estimate... that smacks of certain auction site tactics... in addition to *shudder* HG's cut of this project... And to top it off, there's the currency conversion. for a Canuck like me, that $1820 US[estimated] bill turns into $2320 Canadian... A disappointing pass for myself. all the above said: I'd love to own one... but not this one for that price.
-
'Best' if you're willing to pay $8Grand+ for it... *mutters about ridiculous/out-of-reach price of VF-1 speaker*
-
Considering that -in addition to what I'm sure would be horrendous shipping- one would have to repaint the misspelled name on the cockpit... dat be too much moolah.

Experten 1/72 VF-5000G Star Mirage transformation kit
slide replied to Jefuemon's topic in Model kits
the F-104 Starfighter Marketed/AKA as "The missile with a man in it" RCAF colloquialism: "The LAWN DART with a man in it" at least the F-106 could land itself... -
RVF it is then... what colour(s) are folks using for their 'Luca-green'? the constructions call for CR mixes ... but I can't seem to find anyplace that carries these Mr Color products... at least not in my Beloved Canuckistan. And I don't want to mix 3 things at once if it can be avoided. the Bandai instructions call for a 2-paint mix of white and 'Daytona Green' in various strengths [which is a bonus because the Ghosts call for this colour with a grey, so two-birds etc.]... can anyone verify that Mr color 66 is that same 'Daytona Green' or close enough? [I'm not a car guy, so I have no idea how broad a definition there is of this colour]
-
My Frontier pile is complete; sans VF-27... still unsure if I want one the Bandai Luca is just for the ghosts... gonna hand her over to a buddy after I pillage them from the kit. From this stash I should be able to build a complete skull platoon and a Super-pack equipped Skull platoon, Ozma's Armoured, and a custom RVF-25 in a more modern AWACS scheme [I love the RVF-25... besides the Armour pack, it's my favorite VF-25 mod] just waiting on my shipment of Mr Color paints [I'm being a stickler for my 'on-screen' builds, and Hasegawa's call-outs sure seem correct to my eyes], and some sanders/washes from Flory models, then the fun begins.. That aught to keep me busy for a bit... so which one do y'all think I should start with? I've found during my warhammer days that I'm most efficient with an assembly-line style approach, so I'm thinking of starting with the non-super platoon, while flitting to the Armoured and/or Ghosts to stave-off monotony... any issues with the Bandai ghosts, or the Armoured VF-25s? I know the regular ones can be a bit floppy in fighter mode, anything to watch for or avoid?

Hasegawa 1/72 VF-19EF/A Isamu Special *March pre-order*
slide replied to slide's topic in Model kits
I got 3 as well: 1 for Isamu's VF-19EF/A, 1 for the YF-19 with Fastpacks from Macross Plus, and one for a custom Paint scheme VF-19EF/A. -
must begin to save money...
-
I've oredered 2 of each... I'll build them some day too, I swear it
-
the bottom pic is the Hasegawa 1/72 kit... and their interpretations of the line-art have been oft-criticized, lol the line art is as it appears on-screen, Hasegawa's head is 'out of spec' as it were, so if you're going for on-screen accuracy, then go with the line-art. ***update*** the only shots I've been able to find so far in the anime seem to show no bulge on the back of head unit on the VF-0S: *Scene cited for evidence: Shin vs Roy hand-to hand training, episode 2, 14:13 for a timecode on my copy* ***Further Update*** then there's THIS shot, during the assault on the carrier, where in gerwalk the head DOES seem to have the Hasegawa bulge at the back... so it's up to you I suppose
