I get where you're coming from, but being compared to one's competition is to be expected. [even though there is no real direct competition for this specific kit yet] I've purchased a couple of MaxFactory's figures, and I'm quite satisfied. I don't have any of their kits yet, so I can't comment on a trend of improvement. It's an impressive kit for size and ambition [only in the game for ~4 years and they made THAT? for this niche little market?? Ballsy!], but compared to something like a Trumpeter 1/24 scale kit or any aircraft kit of similar size, it is a noticeable difference in both amount of detail, and accuracy; nitpicky things like the undercarriage Retraction-Piston is not mounted off-set as Max's is, but mounted down the centerline... you know, like almost every other tricycle-gear jet ever ... all that said I know that I still want one several... maybe someone will put out some super-detail sets for us aircraft modelers... like a super-detailed cockpit! or Accurate Landing-gear/bays for those weirdos who build their birds with the gear down also: now that MaxFactory have thrown-down this gauntlet as-it-were, I'd love to see someone like Hase or even Trumpeter [since they do big kits already] to pick it up and have a go at it! then we could do a more apples-to-apples comparison at least

see if you can get ahold of an actual printed-by-the-company colour chart of the paint you like. GSI Creos Mr.Color as an exampple: find the frame you like the most from the show, and put it up on your own TV, then compare with the colour chart. that's what I've resorted to, because as tekering said: I like the colour you get when you go with Hasegawa's callout in the 1/72 M&M VF-1JSuper-Gerwalk kit: [74] 60% + [13] 40% But one could Certainly go Greener, or Bluer, or Paler, to taste and find a still-frame from the show to back you up. I can't get Mr Color where I live easily, but I try to mix whatever I'm using to that Hasegawa callout... it feels like a good military gray to me.

OH... so I could pay an Extra $1000 in shiping 15 installments to Canada?! Awesome!! I realize the quality of these things [Like De'Agostini's Falcon] but... As a modeler I'd rather hunt down one of Bandai's if I had the money to buy/time to build/space to display a Giant SBY. Still Super-Jealous of anyone who can afford the investment and space to display her, though! Maybe once I've payed off my mortgage I can think about really cool toys like this...

There seem to be two versions of the Armor: one with long shins and beefier arms, and one with short shins and skinnier arms. Both proportion sets seem to be represented at the same time.

Well it Looks excellent so far, but we need Details Man! How are you mounting the packs? Where'd the packs come from? A Hase kit? or did you pick up a Bandai SuperPack ? Armament? How will you paint her? and more pics!!

unfortunately nobody makes Macross colours like they do for Gundam... Paint-mixing is what most of us have resorted to... Advice: take a box-top and visually see if there are paint matches that are close enough to live with at your local shop.
