The order through his store? or including anywhere else you can get it? You've got dibs, but If order #10039 isn't in, then I'm in the hunt too... I might need a second anyway for a friend.

Venom: The Last Dance - October 25, 2024
slide replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The first one was a fun, 'what-if' version of venom, and I enjoyed Hardy/Venom's performance. Hope this one builds/grows instead of hitting the proverbial "I'm a sequel" Punji-trap -
I prefer the Blue/White flicker too... but the RGB-Rainbow-Shimmer was unexpectedly appealing as well [FOLD EFFECT Lighting!] My first "Holy S, I could totally pull this off with that method!" idea was to FILL the foot/burner can with fibres, but randomize the pattern, so that there was never a large cluster blinking out at any one time... Then find a flicker rate that makes it seem like the "ball of nuclear-reactor-fire" we all imagine going on back there... I was thinking between 4 and six LEDs should be enough to achieve the randomized effect I'm picturing, no idea if 6 would be doable... It may take an unnecessary amount of fibre, and require the leg assembly to basically be turned into a tube to hold the lighting, but the effect I'm picturing in my mind would be totally worth it... and with programmable lighting you could even achieve the classic "solid wall of glowing-thrust" that Sci-Fi-miniature engines in general produce on-screen, usually because the "engines" are just difusers in front of light-sources. The Lambda-class shuttle from StarWars is a classic example of what I mean there Can't wait to see where you go with it!

From the VF-1Masterfile, courtesy of Macross Mecha Manual: So, I'm no expert, and I'm working from some second-hand [but trusted] info regarding pylon mass... I'm also forced to assume that "empty weight" means "mission-ready sans ordinance/fuel"... but here's my Armchair-Armorer attempt: Using *Aim-7 Sparrow missiles as a stand-in for the AMM-1 [one could also use AMRAAMS at 152Kg], we get 230Kgx12= 2760Kg. 1824Kg for AMRAAMs, and a measly 1032Kg if they're Sidewinder-equivalents for total mass. Re: Pylons, I'm going with 120Kg, which is the reported-to-me weight of the F-16 Station 3/7 16S1700 Pylon [The one the Bombs and TER are on VS Line-art for the VF-1 AMM-1 Pylon]... So 120Kgx4= 480Kg so: Standard TO weight - (Empty Weight + Fuel + Missiles + Pylons) = Remaining weight for the GU-11 thus: 18500Kg - (13250Kg + 119.85Kg + 2760Kg + 480Kg) = 1890.15Kg left for the GU-11 Gunpod, with Aim-7 Sparrows as AMM-1 Stand-ins. GU-11 = 2826.15Kg if AMRAAMs were stood-in, GU-11 = a WHOPPING 4306.15Kg if Aim-9L [the top-of-the line Sidewinder in 1982] were stood-in. THIS was my original number... and I consider that number BANANAS in light of the following: a GPU-5/A [it's a GAU-8 A-10 cannon in a pod with 353 rounds, and a helical magazine just like the GU-11] weighs-in at 866Kg loaded... so even considering the calibre increase... GAU-8 has seven barrels to GU-11's 3 barrels, and GU-11 stores 200x55mm rounds instead of the 353x30mm in the GPU-5/A... The full-up Gau-8 Avenger System, as-mounted in the A-10, weighs in at 1830Kg, but that includes 1170 Rounds and the Magazine Drum to hold it all the GU-11 gunpod can't weigh 1890Kg, or I'm missing something....... how heavy can that camera unit on top be? if we add-on a fully fuelled MQ-1B Predator [just for fun] to compensate for the increase in calibre and sensor-suite: GPU-5/A(866Kg)+MQ-1B(1020Kg) = 1886Kg! lol The GU-11 has to weigh even more if we were to consider the smaller, lighter stand-ins for the AMM-1. Couple all that with what I think is the obvious "Wouldn't Overtechnology make, at least some things, stronger and/or lighter?" argument... and ***EDIT*** so then [using the AMRAAM stand-in, cause it's closest] we get 2826.15Kg - 1450Kg = 1376.15Kg unaccounted-for, even though we've plugged-in "known mass" for the GU-11, Missiles, Fuel, and Real-world Pylons... So yea... either they think Kakizaki weighs as much as a young Rhinoceros; or they must think the Pylons are REALLY HEAVY!!

That looks great! You've inspired an entirely new thought-process in me for how to light an engine... Many variations on your theme that I need to try! *watches again that's with just 2 LEDs?

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
slide replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
Ah, didn't realise the endo/exo-atmospheric operating efficiency difference. makes sense. They think they're all cagey about it, but we've had "Working" tokamaks built before... I can't wait to see if they can actually get it down to the size of a jet-engine... but are they talking a P&W F119, or an RR Trent-900? If you think a nuclear jet-engine is dumb, check THIS mandess out... -
Pics once you do! [you should wear it to a showing of TopGun2!] plus it's 1000% less Garish than the Robotech version...

It is not confirmed... but the speculation is strong. Only time [or a disgruntled employee, IN time] will tell.

Didn't the crash of ASS-1, and the UN's subsequent Despotic Assimilation of all national governments in the face of it, kick-off the Unification Wars? Or was WWIII in-progress when it hit?

So, one of these with a $20 set of Zeon Patches goes for $300+? Damn... I need to learn to sew... I could make some $MONEY$ off of the Gunpla-crowd at my next local Comc-con..... Indeed; $300 for that Robotech-festooned jacket, or such spiffy alternatives for ~$110 US: SDF-1 MA-1 Jacket Roy Focker MA-1 Jacket Small Rant: Why do they have an SVF-1 Skull Squadron patch AND an SVF-26 Cavaliers Squadron patch AND a VF-1J/Vermilion Squadron Patch on the same jacket, which itself is prominently labeled "VERMILLION"... which is spelled wrong... it's almost as if they have no idea what these symbols mean other than they were used in Macross Robotech.. /Rant I'm at peace with everything else about it. I'd buy the Patches and VF-1J Zipper-tab [in PVC/rubber instead of Die-Cast]... forget the 'Robotech' patch though I love the touch of the U.N. Spacy Roundel Snap-Buttons... Power to whoever buys one and rocks it in public!

If those were Canada Geese they'd be tearing them a new one.... Swans too. I'd like an official [I'll settle for sensical] explanation on the Butt-Wing please!! it's SO WEIRD I need to know...

I just tried to run some numbers on the VF-1 using the Masterfile Data and Real-World Analogues: Sparrows as AMM-1 stand-ins and F-16 Pylons [Macross WAS made in 1982 after all], and yea.. they WONKY... Unless the gunpod weighs 4 Metric tons... which is ludicrous considering a GPU-5/A is only 866 Kilos fully loaded with 353 rounds, and they're using Overtechnology to make things lighter, stronger, etc. etc. Nerdy, Nerdy Ordinance Info like this would be great!
