Arcadia: 1/60 VF-1S Hikaru Ichijo Special Movie Ver

so this is hitting the date actually....i got my payment request from amiami over the weekend...i actually forgot i ordered this. gonna keep it misb in case i change my mind. -
good points. avg. joe collector's consciousness is tied in the "now" and relevant. that is one reason hot toys does so well. its also a low barrier or entry to be a fan of a movie....you sit through 2 hours and you love it or not. something like macross is not accessible really to most people especially outside of japan. if there were a large budget international theatrical release(live action or anime/cig), i'd have no doubt macross aftermarket would shoot through the roof. unfortunately that will never happen so long as HG has the stranglehold outside of japan....even though they are in my amateur opinion ultimately not right legally....nobody wants to go into the risk of the legal action and potential lost profit. at least nobody has shown the willingness yet. getting back to the topic...besides the sheer price of things(can one afford it)..."out of reach" really depends on what value you as the consumer puts on something...

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Mechapilot77 replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
take if from someone who has specced plastics before for functional parts... TFC's plastic is thick and chunky but its on the soft side...sort of like toyword's orion actually (i have and love orion...i also have like hercules). they will wear or develop stress marks more easily but are less likely to crack before stress marks appear. MMC's plastic is tougher, stiffer BUT is a tad more brittle on some earlier releases....notable example being some small tabs on the cyclops "boatwave" release. with hexatron they seem to have have struck a better medium of hardness and toughness (i use these in engineering terms...one does not mean the other btw) In the game of 3rd party plastics...i really have to hand it to FP and to a similar extent FT. They seem to have found the best balance...durable and wear resistant yet not brittle. it isn't a question of "higher quality vs. low quality"plastic like fanbois or one company or another like to argue. its about finding the right balance and what they think is right for their product and their design.- 9240 replies

amazon has some too FWIW. bought them many years ago. you can actually fit between 6-8 naked vf-1s in battroid mode in two rows on a detolf shelf with risers. 8 looks crowded though.

yf-24 would be cool...i mean just lookt at it. the yf-25 is similar enough to the vf-25 that its a little meh even if they color scheme is cool. vf-27 Cf/grace in teh new current mold would be great. tornado parts for michael and alto (although i'd probably just get michael's) RVF-171 EX for sure i'd want a dx chogokin VF-1? no i don't need rebuy a whole other line of vf-1s after having mostly completed yamarto and arcadias offerings that i'd like. this can wait like 3 - 5 years and i'm ok if it doesn't happen. i prefer yaamto's style and feel to the dx chogokins from bandai. if it came to be, i'd probably buy 1 just to see how it is though.

while 1/6 scale hot toys (and similar) figures is cool as all heck...i can more easily justify 300 for valk (local hobby stores i'm familiar with usually mark things way up..i've seen 150 valks go for 250+ at the time of release) at retail than 200 for toys unless you take into account resale....which i admit is important for some collectors. mostly i think calks are more worth it because for many releases on 1/6 scale...you're essentially paying for a headsculpt and some clothes as so many of the releases use standard bodies etc. i mean i know its different for say iron man or robocop etc. but for the bulk of them (at least a couple years back when i checked)..its kinda a like WTF am i paying for. granted i know most valks are repaints etc....but that body takes a lot more work and engineering to get right.

yeah DYRL hands should be different. Also the deco is different slightly, most notably the arrow on the head, but if you aren't OCD i'd argue its a great stand in if you don't have a TV roy, don't want to pay aftermarket AND don't want to wait. :-)

heh customs is random here. My packages usually go through NY or SF customs for some reason or another. Its as fast as 2 days and its been as slow as close to 2 weeks. NY seems to have higher variiance

lol my G1 jetfire has been left out exposed to natural room lighting for 28 or so years and is still mostly white...it'd look like tv yamato compard to that thing. theres go tto be other factors for that one or a bd batch of plastic. my 2002 reissue vf-1s super 1/55 from bandai is still pristine white as well.
-
hard to tell. my original 2008 bad shoulders edition (but mine are ok so far still!) vf-1j hikaru is still very bright white. it is however slightly less bright white than it used to be I think? i only say that because brand new examples of bright white (like my frist tv focker for example) are if you pay super close attention a ever so slightly little whiter. Still i won't say my 2008 vf-1j is "yellowed" at all. Perhaps a bit less eye piercingly white but hold it next to a DYRL yamato valk and it still looks eye piercingly white. i have always kept my white valks (all of them actually) behind glass though and never have used CFL bulbs in the same room. i think that if you can get the white valks behind glass, you're fine. YMMV of course!
-
i always thought they were different becaue in dyrl they start off already in space...thus more dimly lit scenes= off white to grey look. sdfm starts on earth where you can see them in " natural lighting" adn they are clearly white.
-
yup the coloring on that one almost got me to buy it. At the time I already had the early 2000s release ( think) of the super valkyrie vf-1s in roy's colors (but its actually hikaru's name on there since he in SDFM was the one to debut that one after roy's death). i think the origin release was a dyrl roy focker, correct?
-
to be the fastpacks are supposed to be more dominantly grey with blue/green tones...yamato just went full blue/green. never understood that. perhaps my memory is foggy though but the fastpacks on the hasegawa art is sort of more in line with what i always pictured. i hope when they get around to new ones whenever that is that the color will be more grey/blue.
-
ok you guys realize the bulk of the main body color of yamato vf-1 valks is just bare plastic right...no paint to remove. The stripes and details and tampos are obviously paint but the main body, underwing areas etc aren't painted. so for example, unless gakken is putting the tips on the yellow or black paint or any tampo on the low viz vf-1 isn't never going to be an issue.
-
if that pic is at all accurate it IS bright "tv" white. i guess we can call it "arcadia dyrl white" now too. i would be too, BUT usually the option parts are included in the plasic vacuum formed tray. they are in a separate bag taped to the underside of one of the trays. I assume Arcadia didn't come up with new tooling for the vacuum formed tray and did the same thing....OR is in the tray with the new stand whcih i don't see either. lol.

well yeah bale is ridiculous.....i mean he's like 90 lbs in the machinist basically and roughly double that in batman. i doubt an actor can do it that many times and not take years off his or her life. women tend not to be as drastic in their changes, plus if i was gal i woudln't want to put on TOO much muscle and bulk...on her frame she'll look not that feminine anymore and as buff as wonder woman is...she is still very feminine. i see her putting on like 10 lbs for the role maybe and hopefully the increase in testosterone from lifting doesn't shrink her modest but nice chest. that or she can bulk the other way...gain a little fat along with the muscle....probably be better. nah too britty.

when you check ebay at least filter on "sold listings" only to see what stuff actually sold for. also there is thread on this board dedicated to finished auction prices... http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=38871 start there.
-
nice designs. he clearly loves macross zero, frontier and ace combat.
-
i like gal adot a lot. she is super hot, but she's gonna need a wonderbra top with stuffing for the WW role (despite what amazonian means lol). also some gym time and some more eating. i really can't think of who i'd put in a WW outfit for this movie though....has to have the body and the look. facewise gal could pull it off i think...she needs a black dye job in her hair and stuff but she is gorgeous.

This 1/60 custom is going to be bigger than I thought!
Mechapilot77 replied to bry's topic in The Workshop!
wow...are you goign to 3D print the entire model? you have a makerbot yourself or something like that? They use PLA if i'm not mistaken. -
btw what are you guys seeing for shipping costs on your VF-1S from various retailers and methods? It'd be "nice to know" going forward as the VF-1S i'm sure has the same box size and weight as any VF-1 going forward. EMS from amiami to me (east coast USA) - 4000Y, SAL from amiami to me (east coast USA) - 3850Y, EMS seems a no brainer in this case at amiami.
