  1. i don't know why you assume they have two sets of complete tooling. At the volumes we are talking for MP transformers its not worth it. i think only the formerly sharp bits had new tooling done for hasbro since they sell to markets like the US with safety rules that are more stringent. Also, the recent reissues have been done by (and run by at the factory i assume) hasbro asia...not takara, despite it being a release of the takara version of the product. that being said, i doubt what we saw at the toy fair is final, and we all know hasbro (and takara) love to screw up box art. i didn't click the video but i'm gonna guess the box art reflects hasbro's original release version while the upcoming intended hasbro reissue is going for the original mp-08 takara deco (minus the extra paint apps). anyway i'm sick of thinking about this grimlock mold. bring on a V2, whether it be hastak or FT. just bring it already.
  2. it'll be interesting to see them once they become available. perhaps the non WU kong "KO's" really were just loose reject mp grimmies, and not KO's. that would mean hastak changed or made a a few new pieces to the existing tooling. interesting indeed.
  3. yup totally agree. MP-11 feels almost soft/waxy and looks more translucent than any MP TF i've seen, and yes very swirly. Thankfully they got the red and blues right (if you go by the 86 movie as a reference it at least feesl right) or else MP-11 would have been a bit of a fail for me. the way MP-11 reflects light though i can see why one person on another board called it "pearlescent"....but its just not, its weird plastic. Personally i think if they are going to use that kind of plastic it'd be nice of them to at least add a bit of matte/semi gloss clear to it. Anyway, yes mP-08 plastic is more traditional almost G1 feeling plastic. The hasbro one was as well....the same plastic. Although its harder to notice, grimmies are a bit swirly too.....though not nearly as much as mp-11. That beign said, I think everyone is panicking over the toy fair photos and harsh lighting on the new mp-98 hasbro reissue...i will reserve judgement until we get better pictures although I kind of doubt they'd just switch plastics. if you put that kind of lighting against any release of mp grimlock i'm pretty sure the wings will be translucent-ish too and the swirls will be accentuated. Well i guess not king grimlock as i'm sure the silver paint all over helps to alleviate that. oh and re: toyfair. i'm pumped for the jetfire. i wonder if takara will do a premium deco version...although the hasbro one shown already has metallic red paint/red chrome?
  4. lol thats way too cute! oh and yes now there is an agonizing wait for a second season. i hope this won't end up like initial-D where they waited for the manga to press ahead and took a break only to never come back. please let there be a season 2 at least!! oh and i totally am buying merch for this franchise. so far just mikasa stuff. i think little levi is badass but not sure i'll get him. and yes there should totally be some sasha stuff released! oh and more titan stuff.
  5. yup i'm like you. i think the other modes are silly but its a cool robot. i just imagine it to be a non transforming mecha.
  6. i just hope we get a decent new ed 209 toy out of this. the new ed 209 looks kinda awesome. i kind of wish i bought hot toy's ed 209 when they were available at retail. i settle for the much much cheaper though not nearly as cool NECA version that just came out (which bang for the buck wise is decent....its biggest flaw is the lack of toe /feet articulation). anyway, i'm pumped to see this! i don't care if its not as good as the original, i'll see it and be very entertained.
  7. seriously!! she definitely "steals" some episodes. and if they made an alternate drool face when she thinking or seeing food....that'd be awesome.
  8. so no prototype pics? at least its an announcement. hopefully the galvion figure sells so they will keep pursuing less well known franchises that deserved cool toys but never got them. i have the galvion figure on preorder actually. hopefully its not a dud.
  9. a few thoughts. - 3zero iron kong looks amazing. -3A stuff looks wonderful -fewture is now making lackluster "super poseable" type of non transforming TF figures that don't even look as good as the transforming versions? -nice SD IDW optimus. -alpha trion looks awesome but if its anything remotely close to the $800 ultimtal optimus prime...forget it. we need a REAL alpha trion fig, not some super premium $800 thing nobody can justify buying. lol**EDIT**oops i can now see its a fewture model that is only 145mm,not ultimatela size/scale whcih means i might have to get it. lol -looks like we now know why that 3rd party unicron head was cancelled. this official one looks pretty decent though.
  10. Nice we got a VF-0D confirmation. Also that dark grey VF-25 (its a 1/72) looks awesome. Almost looks liek an ivanov scheme on a 25....bandai should make one of those for its DX renewal line.
  11. i bet the vendors didn't get enough preorders for toynami to have a viable business case to actually make em. me? i had 2 on preorder. so while i can snuggle up with my softimus prime (which btw can transform!), i'll have to wait for another time to get a vf-1 that i can do the same to. lol.
  12. my inner child ALWAYS wanted the VF-1D. I got it, twice over actually (one is a mISB backup). however, once you get 1 vf-1. there are never enough. each one is just to stave off the hunger until th next hits. its...and endless hunger. i feel less this way about other vf designs though. the VF-1 is special and unique. it will forever remain that way, much the same way a G1 optimus is to transformers fans. I'm positive a V3 can't be more than 5-7 years away and we'll do this all over again. all of this has happened before and it'll happen agan.....lol If there was an "ultimate valk", it'd be a renewal 1:48 vf-1 or maybe a supersized 1:24 scale vf-1 (actually yes that is my answer a supersize 1:24), complete with high end paint applications, a good amount of cold, heavy smartly used diecast, 100% accuracy on all 3 modes, improved articulation, high quality plastics, a myriad of gimmicks including electronics, and articulated pilot, and mimay figure, acessories up to wazoo, and come with it sown mini diarama. i'd pay ~$1500 for one. oh and it'd be a vf-1d.
  13. yeah i'm going to wait for retail. this isn't MUST for me but i guess i should check this tread more often because i totally missed on ALL of the preorders. no sweat. i'll get it when it comes out and if not....oh well. it would have been higher up on the list but i'm not sold on the head sculpt and to be honest there are other things i'd rather spend on. IMO macross needs a new series fast because this MF/M30 aesthetic is getting tiring. I mean how many DX valks for these series can the market accept. that being said, i still hope i can get one (not too concerned it'll not be available).
  14. i think we need to relax. there hasn't been a 2second sold out item in SEVERAL releases. i think most of the renewals after the first round or so have been fairly available, no reason why this wouldn't be.
  15. i couldn't agree more with the last part. Our generation will always have a fondness for the franchises robotech co-opted (and as this site proves their derivatives and sequels/prequels etc) but there are whole generations of potential fans waiting to be won by the next great idea/saga/story/anime/whathaveyou. Honestly the format of macross fits into the tradition of the "space opera" and to be honest i would LOVE to a new anime series that is a space opera with cool new mechs/enemies or whatever. Hasn't been done well in a while now (not an original one anyway, so for instance macross F doesn't count), and I think that genre could still pull new fans. the last space opera i really enjoyed wasn't even anime...it was the reimagning of BSG in the mid naughts.
  16. THANKS GU-11, i'll check it out sometime. and yes, definitely excited for this figure! btw can someone explain 3A/3zero. confusing...is it the same company or linked or what?
  17. Gosh I really hope they don't go "look here is an all silver G1 toy accurate version!"....that would be the biggest waste of a repaint i can think of. please be blue. i want an mp diaclone collection! i can't help but think magnus will also be repainted in the diaclone colors too. how cool would it be to have a daclone magnus, yellow lambor, and a blue daiclone bluestreak? i may be getting ahead of myself but IF they ever do a sunstreaker i REALLY hope they do a diaclone red repaint. it'd be an awesome tribute to the first transforming car toy ever! FWIW As far as committing $90, BBTS is one retailer that lets you cancel a preorder until it arrives so you'd have plenty of time to see if other sites put it up.
  18. gotta be blue diaclone colors right? i preordered just in case it is, don't want to miss out on that if thats the case!
  19. this is a first for me. I rarely collect anything outside things related to a few franchises and rarely things not related to those franchises that are somewhat big ticket items. this thing just made me forget the rules. There have been a few items like this over the years that tickled my fancy like this that i always found out about after the fact or i passed up on because it wasn't in the realm of what i collect...i've always regretted not getting them later on....that is part of what made me jump on this. BTW, you have any examples of similar things like this (original or slightly obccure high end mecha or robot figures )?
  20. As far as I can see there isn't a thread on it, and there should be because it looks all kinds of awesome. not for everybody but it looks like its going to be sweet. its like a blend of super robot, mecha, and samurai-ish aesthetics. also robots with capes are almost always cool. toy wise its 18" tall and 100 points of articulation and includes the pilot figure (and will be wildly out of scale with anything remotely macross because it seems the pilot is between 5-6" tall or so).... i don't usually collect random stuff but sometimes cool stuff happens. gonna try to get myself one of these. i wish there was some supporting fiction or art other than that video. http://gundamguy.blogspot.com/2013/11/bandai-x-threezero-x-kunio-okawara.html
  21. dammit, that is one i was hopeing for. i rationaized at the time i alraedy had a vf-1d AND a max vf-1j so i had both the color scheme and the mold. :-P eithe rway i guess i don't miss it much but thinking about it now like its not really available makes me want it more. we always want what we cannot (reasonably anyway) have. haha
  22. looks like i waited one week too long to check this out. gah!! is it still up anywhere? anyone download the flv from youtube before it was taken down. bummer.
  23. see this is why i say for MP car bots...ALWAYS ALWAYS preorder from a jp retailer. NO WAY would i pay the bbts $80-90 price on a mass release MP carbot. And as we see now....Even the hasbro TRU exclusive price is higher. if you preordered from anime export, prowl was ~$52 shipped all the way from japan, even less each if you ordered more than one! its a $45ish dollar toy in japan, so with preorder discounts and cheapest registered shipping it makes sense to import mp cars in my opinion. I do GUESS and this is only a guess based on the price point that the previously amazon exclusive launchers will come with US MP prowl (it better for that price and whatever TRU marks it up to). I also guess that they will change up the deco ever so slightly...hopefully for those waiting for a US version it won't be too bad.
