Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Mechapilot77 replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
hmm, so there is going to be a hot toys vader AND a sideshow vader separate from that (They are both doing SW it seems and isn't sideshow the distrutor of hot toys in america too?)....conflict of interest much? -
So it looks like even my "desperation" (at the time) preorders i didn't think would see the light of day (from yesasia) are coming through....i'm going to have too many ozmas! If by chance NY runs out before people who couldn't get a hold of one want one, i will be selling (in a week or so when it shows up) a couple ozmas at my cost.
-
well, here are some of mine...i picked ones that were more different to post....avoid the direct comparison! :-P

dang that looks too awesome. i dno't even have those lego kits but now kinda want them.
-
that regult does look nice....i want like 3 of them unless they announce a variant with the heavy missile rack on top, then i'll only get 2 and one of those. i REALLY hope they do a glaug. i'd need to buy a vf-1j to battle with it though as i sold my high metal one off. i do kinda wish theses were 1/60 but they'd be huge and i couldn't house 3 regults or a glaug anywhere....i just hope they are as nice or nicer than they look.
-
looking at the pics in my thread, yeah i need this in my life, like 2 of them. i still think the original fighter mode on the arcadia is better but they aren't technically the same valk so its still not an apples to apples comparison but oh well. getting this....super packs look pretty good on there too. wonder if this valk will also show up in macross delta somehow.

woot finally scored one last night at NY at like 1 am. i'm assuming my other preorders won't come through. was suprised to see it was still up this morning when i got into work....its gone now though.
-
dammit bandai! i sold off my hi metals because i thought you gave up on the line!!

so 7.2" tall from a company that is pretty new to transforming mecha and they want $350 bucks for it? as much as i love that design ( i built the robotech transforming model kit revel released back in the day!) there is no way in hell i'm paying that mjuch for it. $200 TOPS and that is a stretch for a small figure like that.

oh man i had baron von joy. he was awesome diecast goodness. great alt mode likeness too. wonder where he is...somewhere at the rents house. i could probably find it. lo the tank guy was cool too. he was beige and dark green camo? defendor was his name possibly my favorite gobot ever. if the the 3P TF world does him....i think he will sell. looks very awesome, kinda mecha like too. here is a link to a pic http://www.collectiondx.com/gallery2/gallery/d/586609-3/P5310298.jpg- 16946 replies

personally i don't like what bandai has put out there in the vf-1 model kit arena or the hi metal that much...proportions look awkward. also please no metal on metal ball joints. 1/60 scale or bust since everything macross is that scale anyway (dx chogokins valks are close and of course arcadia stuff). the only thing that is hard to do that i'd want....a waist and or ab joint. havent' thought out the sepcifics on how to do that but it'd be nice to have a vf-1 that can do that.

nah this thing will get discounted. they are going to get over eager and produce too much thinking all voltron lion force fans will like it, plus its from an unknown company. i think its about half half here in this thread in terms of who prefers it to the 10+ yera old toynami one. to put it in TF terms, its just too "CHUG" or reimagined. i think people who grew up remembering voltron vaguely but never actually watching the show religiously during first run or having the toy (or its famous lionbot KO) might like this, but for guys like me who have an ingrained mental image of voltron in our heads...this just isn't him. it looks sort of like it but just ins't "right. " so we aren't "hating", but merely defending what our mental image of voltron is. the toynami one while not a great piece...aside from the small wings, looks "right" to us. it immediately evokes the mental image in our head. voltron was never "mech" to us...but more superrobot.

hmm, i 'm not sure about that. the hasbro black series appear mostly (except the undersized leia) to be accuarte to the 6" (1/12) scale. The SHF iron man is JUST short of that (the figma btw is not). it remains to be seen what they do with the star wars guys (they did just put out model kits in the proper 1/12 scale..well they they are marked 1/12th adn will be out this month), but hopefully they do go pretty close to 1/12 scale. personally if i was bandai i'd have developed both those kits and the SHF together and see what engineering/sculpting you could shared and what you couldn't. we shall see i guess.

hmmm yeah still not digging it. if it goes down to $180 or so like VV could be had at one point i might think about it though. the aesthetics just look off to me. torso/shoulder area and hips area. i prefer the 10 year old toynami's proportions and joints. the head/face sculpt is kind of cool and different though.

yup those datsuns are IMO the best bang for the buck in collectible quality transforming robot collecting these days. Under $50 (well smokescreen was more) each shipped/imported from japanese sites, well articulated...great sculpts. super fun. wheeljack is great too but they did raise price on him slghtly as well. he is also great (but IMO lacks some paint but of course opinions are varied on that!).- 16946 replies

bandai just showed like 70ish new sh figuarts figures at tamashi nations. check the link below. not much marvel stuff...but maybe they are just getting started. between shf and figma i hope we get at least one good hawkeye, widow, and fury though (neither have shown those, both have announced or released thor, ironman, cap, and hulk). a loki, chutari, and ultron would be nice too. http://www.tomopop.com/tamashii-nations-2014-event-reveals-some-70-new-s-h-figuarts-35843.phtml i'm most excited for the star wars figures and ....rock lee! lol.

dx chogokin vf-1's would probably cost me a hell of a lot of money unless bandai stops at just the hero valks. they'd need to be materially better than the yamato v2 to justify that. if the y could figure out a way to add some hip.waist articulation into a vf-1 that would be a big deal to me. their 1/72 and hi metal efforts so far look off to me...the proportions are not what i hvae in mind when i think vf-1. they'd have to fix that too. oh and...lets not forget the awful metal on metal ball joints that loosen up on their own over time...keep that shiet out of any potential future vf-1 dx chogokin!

bandai has partial control of the media/fiction....i can bet it was bandai who insist the vf-19 isamu colors appear in the frontier movie....so they could get a license for a yf-19 look alike and go for the kill on arcadia. i don't want macross to turn into gundam but having choice is good. so far...the legs look way better on arcadia's but we'll see once this is in hand. i've got to have one i admit....since this is a an exclusive..no preorde madness.!
