A7 - thanks. If we get together to take pics, it may have to be with my dad's (67 '390 fastback) as I'm trying to sell this one. I'll miss it but hopefully something will come up that 'eases' the loss. 338727 Nice ride,Man, I cant beleive how much Fastbacks have went up since gone in 60 was released, Thats a nice car man, My freind sold a GT fastback about 7-8 years ago for like $10,000,,, shoulda kept it,,,, the original color was a light bluish grey, a 4 speed 289 car. I shoulda bought a 67 fastback car last year, it was in trading times for 1,200, needed damn near everything,,pretty sure it was an original v8 car

I'd be interested to know where you got that number, considering I didn't think much was known about the '06 M3. The numbers from my previous post were from edmunds.com, which I forgot to mention. 2005 Mustang GT: 3450 lbs 2005 Pontiac GTO: 3725 lbs You were saying about heavy...? 338329 # PRICE: $57,695 # ENGINE: 3.2-liter I6, 333 hp, 262 lb-ft # CURB WEIGHT: 3781 lbs # DRIVETRAIN: rwd, six-speed manual Thats the figures for the convertible, heavy in my book 2002 Z28 (taken from the drivers door 3404 and I think its a bigger car then the M3
-
99% of engines are "hand" built as in assembled, hand built really means hand selecting components and hand measuring every one instead of 1 out of 200
-
Conan the Destroyer. 338230 kinda qurky, but I still own it

I dunno man, I drove a 308 (chick I know had one in High School) a few times... Had over 100k on it, no vibration at idle, just engine scream while driving, no rattles at all. I blame the "rattle box - American car" thing on excessive use of plastic in the interior. I look at my M3 and its lether and flet mostly... Even the center console has plastic but the hinge has ball bearings in it for smoth movement. 338217 Id say thats a rare bird (308) a lot of those cars required maint is to tighten things up every so many miles (really on any car) German cars use the same content (thats not leather BTW) as american cars. The reason quality is higher is the way its assembled, US makers (along with Japan (which was who started this way of building to save cash) like to have big chunks of the car arrive at the plant to just bolt in and go, like a whole instrument panel, whole console, ect... the germans (and most high end manufacturers) dont take this aproach, they actually assemble the cars components at the plant in the car as it rolls down the line. This process is a lot more expensive (hence the high price tags) and doesnt lend itself to high production numbers, if your pissing out 500 cars a day the cost would be astronomical in employee costs, thats what Im trying to say is that, its not the content or material, its how you put it together, same with engines, transmissions, ect.......that ZF trans in your car is the same manufacturer and components that goes into a camaro,,,,,its just put in with a lot more "care"
-
Easy folks, thiers nothing wrong with driving a civic, cars are marketed twards a certain group, just like any product. That includes quality believe it or not, If a company can get away with less content and the same price they will. For example A1 said domestic cars are a rattle trap after a year or so. He drives a German car witch are "layer" built (think of paper stacked) and engineered,,,Pros are tight tolerances, cons are extremly heavy cars for thier size and high build costs which lead to the customer. A ferrarri with any kind of miles is a rattle trap too, sit in a 512 with 50,000 on it, thiers a reason why the exhaust is loud The only problem I see with the Mustang is Ford doesnt want to spend the cash and go to a suplier (ZF) for a decent IRS which would make it a world class car, but the big but is why spend the money when were selling a million of thiese allready, would you????

The retail is still extraordinarily high, but in all honesty... they're worth it. The performance combined with Toyota reliability and build quality? The 2JZGTE motors are bullet proof and the rest of the car is just overbuilt. Would I buy one? Doubtful, but all things considered it's probably one of the greatest performance cars of all time... if not the greatest. No matter how much money you pump into a Mustang it's still going to handle like garbage, and have the grotesque Ford design, build quality and reliability. The Supra is a superior car made to a higher standard than the Mustang and that's not something you can fix by just putting "mod" money into it. I don't have a problem with people liking different cars but some cars are superior; that's a fact. The Japanese make better cars and their superiors; that is a fact. As as much as you might accuse me of sounding like the import loving 'Merican-hater stereotype, you sound just as much like a V8-loving, technology-hating redneck 'Merican car enthusiast. If anything, I'm probably one of the most open-minded car enthusiasts you'll meet... I just don't like crap and I voice that. A few months ago I was drooling over of the new Z06, so my tastes have nothing to do with one country being better than the other. And the only cars I envy are Alfa's, so don't flatter yourself. 337887 hate to tell ya, but ALL car companies buy from the same suppliers, whitch are engineered by the same people, I may move to a Toyota shop in the upcomming years (which will make you Toyotas more valuable )Studios are the one of the only things that they keep to themselves and basic chassis/powertrain design, hell, I worked on a lotus program designing the L850 4 banger intake manifold, manufactured by Inergy (was Solvay),,,,they make all Chrystler intakes for thier V6's,,,,yes, Lotus parts from the same manufacturer as Dodge,,,, as for comparing a Supra to a Mustang compare it to the new vette (not Z06),,,,superior, I dont think so, Lets see a Japan car from the factory that rivals,,,sorry, destroys the best Ferrarri and Porshe can put out and run 1.04G's on the skid pad with factory tires, still run sub 12's in the quarter m ile,,,

Psst! Hey genius, here is a clue: I'm not the one who originally made the comparison. You actually helped proved my point. And you are right of course. The 5.7 litre V8 hasn't been used in the U.S. at all. It is a pity they never used that engine in the Corvette. Didn't use the 5.7 litre V8? Do you mean a specific model/type of that motor? That's just the 350c.i. small block. My raggedy ol' Ford has a 351C, and they called that a "5.8L V8". Only a difference of 1 cubic inch displacement, but they decided to round up with their figure, while Chevy on the other hand, rounded down. They've always been kinda skewed with their conversion figures. In regards to German cars: if the magazine pundits are to be believed, a general summary of the quality of German autos could be "keep this past the warranty period, if you dare." Of course, we know that's not always the case; Porsche after all built their reputation on the dead-bolts reliability of thier sports cars. It's largely why so much of production-based sports car racing [at least in the US] usually turns out to be a Porsche parade, with only a smattering of other makes here and there. 337906 D'oh...sorry! I was referring to the LS1 that the Monaro shares with the Corvette (one it shared before the Monaro was brought over as the GTO). There are some minor differences, including camshaft but for all intents and purposes the GTO's powerplant is all American, not an Australian design. A question: Why have RWD V8 cars remained so popular in Australia for so long? 337929 the big GM has been building the same engine since 55, just different bore, stroke, head design (reason for dif intakes and exhausts),,,,you can put a LS/LT/2nd Gen in any car from 1955-2007, the bolt pattern for the motor mounts and the transmission bellhousing patern is the same,,, you may need to use an 15MM socket instead of a 9/16ths though, oh, and GM powertrain has ALLWAYS benn developed here in Detroit Michigan) FYI 5.7 in the LS1 is actually a 348cu inch, the lt/2nd gen versions are 350cubes,,,8.1 is a 502, 7.4 is the 454,ect

Allways had a soft spot for the Esprit. allmost bought a V8, but it was the second year of production and they had a few problems with electrical engine managment and the clutch was a bit sloppy. The guy only wanted $55,,,,ended up buying a LT4 vette instead (same performance for a lot cheaper, not to mention the cost of maintaining), the 2001's are probabky the best car they put out to date cept for the Elise quality wise. Talked to a lot of owners and they loved the quirks of the cars

all alone

problem is that when you take and put the front bumper whier it needs to go, minimum aproach angles impact and radius standards it wouldnt look as good anymoresome US standards (FMVSS) (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) 2.5MPH no visible damge at full front/back/30 degree front pendulum (5star is 5MPH) (which killed the chrome bumper uless you want those shock bumpers from the earlly-mid 80's) (trucks/suv's have different standards) no smaller then 8MM radiuses on exterior in pedestrian hit areas (sharp bumpers or grills that stick out further then the bumper) (this was a european standard that the US adopted for easier exporting) Ever notice how fat the "A" pillars got in the mid 90's,, those are for your noggin if you dont wear a seatbelt they are stuffed with foam or molded with ribs about 1 inch past the sheetmetal

i fear she will be on ebay soon. I love her to much to let her slowly deteriorate while I ignore her as there is always something else that need doing. Bought a house so I could fix her up and spend all my time on the house . Ohhh... to be rich... or at least on "pimp my ride". Don't suppose you need a 67 pfunk... I'd love to be able to keep track of it.... maybe even buy her back after a few years . A man can dream. 337072 Im in the whole, gotta car to work on, but the house takes presidence deal myself,,,,maybe Ill take some pics of my bosses 67 rs/ss convertable, get ya to keep it around longer

who was the guy that posted all that for sake of a better word gay valk stuff (pink),,,comets or something, Glad Katana67 has been back and dressed up in a new house,,,,better still have your camaro man

In the case of this car, yes. But I just love all the idiots around here driving around in their ten year old Hondas with goofy body kits and fake intercoolers showing through the grill. I've seen only one local import with a turbo and true intercooler setup. Even saw an idiot at a car show with some type of speaker mounted on his Civic that made the sound of a blow off valve...what a tool. Another reason the import scene here leaves a bad taste in my mouth. (Not to mention the unpainted body kits, spray painted (badly) interiors, and the coffee can size tailpipe tips shooting flames). For every one nicely done import, I've seen twenty that look like pure ass. 336219 Sounds like the scene just about anywhere. I've stopped associating with non-racing car guys (import or domestic) just because I can't stand the ego and stupidity of 'tarding up your ride (rides like poo, loud as hell, more dangerous, more attention from the cops) and not even making an attempt to race it. There's no reason a strictly street car needs to be slammed, have a gutted interior and a loud exhaust. 336348 why own a corvette, or a m3 then? depending what you do and how you do it i guess. Speaking of riding like poo, went to luch today and boss riding in the passenger seat couldnt see how I could tolerate driving a 1 ton truck to work everyday

What happened to sauly,,,,,I let him go. Still the same whiny bad guy
-
um has anyone thought of aftermarket radiator,,,thats exactly what mine looks like,,,as far as rocks are conserned, ive run aluminum in damn near every car Ive built and some are pretty out thier like a Cobra clone I helped with,,,,rocks make a dent, but the aluminum is pretty malable so it just makes a dent,,,,,,ussually
-
I like em low, but not like most rappers cars,,,spokes and spinners.... yuk. Put some boyd's or even vette rallie's. My dad had a white 64 4speed 283 with vette rallie's on it,,,Gawd I loved that car, all white SS
-
those things make my skin crawl. I think thats too easy for an alt considering the boxy shape, I guess Kup would be good for that car also,,,Iron hide I thinks would look good as a Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005)

well, fuel to the fire, I sold my 03 GMC2500 POS with 20,000 miles on it, bought a 02 F350,,,I agree with the ford cant make an engine comment, thats why I got the ol' Internatinal Deisel. The trans is the only thing I worry about ( the only part of the drivetrain ford makes),,,,Im a chevy guy, but thier quality lately sucks Just bought the wife a grand cherokee with the tried and true 4.0 inline 6 (old truck motor),,,mom's has 190,000 on hers Prime would be Kickarse in f350 clothing though
