Not quite. Contrary to popular belief (perpetuated by the above-mentioned caricatures), Napoleon was not especially short. After his death in 1821, the French emperor's height was recorded as 5 feet 2 inches in French feet. This corresponds to 5 feet 6.5 inches in Imperial (British) feet, or 1.686 meters, making him slightly taller than an average Frenchman of the 19th century. The metric system was introduced during his lifetime, so it was natural that he would be measured in feet and inches for much of his life. A French inch was 2.71 centimetres, whereas an Imperial inch is 2.54 centimetres. In addition to this miscalculation, his nickname le petit caporal adds to the confusion, as non-francophones mistakenly take petit literally as meaning "small"; in fact, it is an affectionate term reflecting on his camaraderie with ordinary soldiers. He also surrounded himself with soldiers, his elite guard, who were always six feet tall or taller. 341841 Hitler wasn't such a short lil bugger too. About 5'10''. Not tall even for his time, but not the little shorty most people make him out to be. 342168 you know wayy to much about Hitler

I don't know of I agree with that. I have a 300zxTT that has been basically problem free. Whereas it's tough to find a 93-95 RX7 that isn't on it's second engine or in need of one. Sure there are after market fixes to mitigate that, but from the factory, the RX7 was a timebomb. Can't really comment on the Supra as I've never driven one, but I think they owe a lot of their market value to a certain movie. I like the looks of a kit on one but the dashboard design was terrible. 341954 That is completey true because i drove problem free 300zx TT's, but in all honesty that VG30DETT didn't compare to the 2JZGTE in stability or reliability. That's where Nissan should've been smart and brought over the RB motor, or at least the SR20DET, but of course like i said before Nissan USA is a bunch of idiots. The RX-7's motor had a design flaw which is why they blew up (which is also why the RX-8's are now side ported) but it's still a shame we only got them in the states for 2 years as compared to japan who only discontinued them recently. In my previous post, i owned a 94 Supra Twin Turbo, and i LOVED the dashboard layout. In fact, i wish ALL sports cars had that lay out. Not only does it feel like you're in the friggin cockpit of a fighter jet, but your passenger can't touch ANYTHING. They would literally have to reach around your arm to touch the radio, which for me is a big deal. 342159 the wankel to me has allways been in need of a better design, thiers still a side load on the output shaft on the compression stroke,,,heres a true rotary Id love to have, pull up in the bay,,,,,what you runnin,,, LYCOMING 1500hp'shttp://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/1/0/60859710.htm

Honda is dumping their NSX to try and give birth to a new breed of super car. All i can say is it's about damn time, the NSX has been exactly the same (w/some minor changes to the appearance and rear suspension) since it was first conceived in the early 90's i believe 91. They're going to take the V10 that was developed for F1 racing and put it into a mid/rear platform car. But then again, Lexus/Toyota is doing the same thing... so we'll see how that competition goes. 341873 I watched a special on that not too long ago, for the last year they are putting out a special edition with again minor tweaks. The drivers basically said its a great car during the 1st few years it was produced and in todays standard of HP its a glorified daily driver 341883 That is without a doubt the complete truth, I live in a snooty area where super cars are pretty common (though i hardly consider an NSX a supercar) and three of my friends own NSX's. That car is exactly as you put it "a glorified daily driver", by no means do you feel you're driving a super car, especially considering it's price tag. The advantage in it being a daily driver and a Honda is the fact that you can train a half brained monkey to do maintenance for you. 341901 should I tell bout the time I took a ride in a Delorian gotta be the worst car ever,,, got a lot of looks though

I guess they grow them larger around here, all my cousins, freinds are 6' or taller, I think I stunted my growth, I wear a size 13 shoe,,guess Ill never fall down, Last time I was at the bar, all I saw was shoulders at eye level (even most the chicks )not that I would want to be any taller, I fit in well in all cars and trucks (not to mention basements and chairs) and watching my 6'6" 280lb cousin get into my vette or S10 was pretty funny with his knees in his chest

He also surrounded himself with soldiers, his elite guard, who were always six feet tall or taller. I am slightly taller than Napoleon, just a centimetre. Anyway, we have two sayings here in Italy: "lies have small legs" (meaning that lies can be discovered easily) and the "L rule" (meaning that your height is inversionally proportional to the length of your member). Maybe in English there are similar sayings. The first saying has a special sense in Italy because of our prime minister Berlusconi, who was prescripted for false statements during an oath in a trial. By the way, in his family name the ending "oni" is a plural augmentative, while "berlusco" comes from "bis-losco" (disused word), which means "two-times dishonest" (really!). I can't guess why his family got that name... FV 341841 its OK to be short, Im only 5'10"

Hasn't happened yet, but it's nice to know you care.... 341527 last word

world products has a 454 smallblock, I allways hated building huge stroker motors, the rods start getting in the way of the camshaft, but to have 454cubes (7.4ltr) in a 600 lb fully dressed and ready for prom package is pretty exciting.Displacement = HP without high compression (more fuel and air) I build motors to a different aspect and more of a racing on pump fuel (93octain+),,,BUT my motors run about 170hp till 2500 rpms, then its like turning on a light switch to 500hp, no torque at low rpms and that doesnt make a good daily driver I use the semi high compression ratio (10.50:1) and a long duration camshaft to bleed of the compression at lower rpms along with a lot of aluminum parts to dissapate heat (in a nutshell)

actualy Im not a big defender of the pushrod engine, I just like the stimulating conversation about cars and mechanical designs and kind of a devils advocate
-
not too many in the destroid's

welcome again (car thread) and congrats on the kiddo's, MacII isnt my fav either, but the VF2ss is a nice mecha design
-
A transverse mounted leaf is more exspensive then coils by far and a lighter alternative. from a packaging and manufacturing standpoint, a spring is a spring. you might as well down the pushrod motor in it too for being a 100 year old design. If it works, works well why change it

I guess I dont understand the "cheap" suspension on the vette part, even my 96was the 1st year for active suspension with a computor that reads each wheel about once a foot at 60mph, forged aluminum"A" frames front "SLA" style and rear with is what race cars/super cars use, I guess you could make it coil over for easier adjustability

I have a carbon fiber conection if ya need

Is that your way of bailing out a1? 341308 not really, A1 knows I wouldnt bail him out, hes a big boy (not talking muscles or hieght), I was worried about you getting ripped a new one/saving face and this topic going tangent

PREDATOR REMAKE, Terrific now my childhood
pfunk replied to zeo-mare's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I rented that POS and came very close to making myself eat a bullet because of it...I'm just glad I didn't see it in the theater, the feeling of utter violation would never wash off. A Predator remake, in light of what Hollyweird has been pumping out for almost a decade, makes me shudder to think of the PG-13 CG goofiness of it all. 341146 but that quote made it all worth it -
id love a bitty Lambo for the youngin
