    Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Live to eat turkey sandwiches another day! Given that the PS3 has at least another year's worth of support and new games not to mention a decent roster of older games, it's not a bad deal. IMO, go for it.

    Okay, I'm really starting to get addicted to the whole online thing. I might just get that ps+ card later. I don't like multiplayer stuff, but free games and discounts is something I can get used to. Damn, those are some narrow buttons. I heard that some "fatter" flash drives have a hard time plugging into the PS4's USB ports due to the design. Incompatible until a later software upgrade or incompatible, period?

    Damn, at 270 USD in HLJ, I'm starting to get a little tempted. Then again, I don't think I would have taken the plunge either way. The import taxes are still going be brutal, unless I chance it with EMS. But for such a costly and delicate item, I don't think I'll feel comfortable using anything short of a FedEX delivery. You Americans have no idea how fortunate you are with tax-free collectible imports.

    Thanks for the heads-up! I'll be getting the Lst in Nightmares mission as well as the one with Jill in it, if for no other reason than the fact that I have the HT Jill Battle Suit Version fig. Glad you made it back alive, David!

    BTW, will DLC's for older games still be available? There are a couple of mini-missions I'm interested in for RE5, but not much else. So if those aren't available, I'd be stuck with some virtual cash and nothing to buy.

    Sounds affordable enough. Hopefully I can find one that cheap at my local Amazon. That's good news. I did a little googling, and thankfully they do sell PSN cards at my nearest shopping mall. I'm trying to stay away from giving out my personal info if possible. I once bought a game online from a local store, and after the shop shut down months later, my credit card informed me that someone else was trying to use it overseas! That said, Sony should be at least a little safer than some random online store.

    I seriously need some help in Arkham Origins. In the Gotham Police Dept. mission, I can't get past the part where you have to walk a tight-wire over a large group of police and do a silent takedown on the cop at the vending machine. The problem here is that the so-called silent takedown isn't so silent. I always end up alerting the group of cops. If I try to ignore the cop at the vending machine and just decrypt the lock on the door, the cops STILL get alerted when the door unlocks! F#&king hell! The game is seriously trying my patience! Is there any way at all to get past this? Never mind. I just found out that in order to do a silent takedown, just press triangle and don't press square for "silent" smash when prompted.

    I can't thank you enough for that detailed walkthrough, Mike! Copied and pasted to a doc file for later reference. Next step is to find an HDD. Question: will a used HDD from an old laptop be useable? BTW, I just went online for the first time using the PS3. Not nearly as harrowing as I imagined (yeah, yeah, I know; welcome to the 21st century ). Just plugged in the ethernet cable and the console told me there was an update available for Arkham Origins. I selected "yes", and it just downloaded. Pretty small file, thankfully--67 MB. Will be trying that out for SC - Blacklist next. Hopefully the file will be as small as the patch for Arkham Origins. Oh, and a couple of questions on PSN: Do I have to pay to register? What info will I have to provide. Not very comfortable with giving them my credit card number and actual address after that hacking incident a couple of years back. Damn, what neighborhood is that, where you get mugged in broad daylight coming out of a hypermarket?

    And there in lies the reason I'm still making do with a 40GB HDD. On youtube, I saw tons of people getting frustrated and yelling while trying to get their newly installed HDD's to work. Fortunately for me, I've got a whole set of precision screwdrivers, so that's not going to be a problem. The biggest problem is getting an HDD. Damn all this online patching BS. Why can't these effing games just work right out of the box like they used to?!

    Many thanks for the walkthrough, David! I'll have to go with option 2 for now, not so much out of laziness but the fact that I wouldn't know where to begin searching for an internal HDD--I can always buy one online, but it can be a hassle getting it replaced in case it's defective or incompatible. I have an old 250 GB one from a PC, but I think the ones PS3's use are the smaller ones you find in laptops. That, and the fact that I've been spending a little too much money lately; first, on a new 1TB external HD and then a home theater system, not to mention HT Catwoman and Revoltech Raiden. Not sure I want to spend even more on an HDD if I can help it.

    You're a life saver, Scyla! I've been googling for tips on how to install patches for PS3 games, but couldn't find any. If it's that simple, then I'll have to give it a try. Splinter Cell - Blacklist is driving me up the wall with it's intermittently slowing framerates! BTW, do these patches take up much space? My meager 40 GB HDD is already packed to the gills with recent game installs.

    With a 3D printer (or Shapeways) and some tinkering around with Sketchup, you can actually make your own impact effects. Or...you can use the more hands on glue-gun method. This is probably blasphemous to Macross purists, but if I had the funds and the resources to get three of these kits, I'd customize my own neo-G1 Seekers.

    So it's basically like the usual Tamiya acrylic paints thinned in lacquer thinner? Anyways, are TS clear sprays safe to apply on acrylics?

    Good point. I've never hooked up the PS3 to the internet before, and somehow got the impression that the setup procedure would be rather complicated and messy. Is it, though? Anyways, if I do hook up the console to the router, how do I go about installing the patch? Do I have to load the game first?

    Easily offended? After watching idiot humans, humping dogs and robot testicles in ROTF, I'm virtually bulletproof when it comes to offensive material. Government ninjas? I always knew all that razor-wire I installed around the house would come in handy someday.

    Kind of a stupid question, but is there any way I can download a patch for the Arkham Origins from my laptop and update it via USB on my PS3? A little lazy to set up an internet connection for the console.

    Good point. The first two Arkham were released before Sleeping Dogs, after all. I wish they'd speed up Batman's moves, though. It's nothing major, but it would certainly help to make the action more fluid. Not sure how I feel about the cape-gliding thing, though.

    Just started playing Arkham Origins last night. Damn game froze on one of the first mission's cutscenes. Had to reboot twice before the thing played smoothly again. Otherwise, a really nice game that does justice to the franchise (no pun intended). Fighting system's very similar to Sleeping Dogs, which to me is a good thing. That said, Batman moves rather slowly compared to Wei Shen, so the fights don't feel as smooth or as fast. This being my first Arkham game, I definitely like the general design of the game, as well as the armored bat-suit. I never liked the "traditional" Spandex suits.
