  1. As far as fighter mode, I think my favorite has just changed from the VF-0S to the YF-29 (the Isamu repaint, at least). It's just so sleek and sexy--I've put it on my desktop beside me right now, and I just can't help glancing at it every few minutes.
  2. That looks awesome! Looks much more realistic than the thick blue out of the box. Wish I had the guts to do that with a brand new Valk.
  3. "Again?" You mean this same thing has happened before? Maybe they should hand him some cue cards instead.
  4. As someone who's not a fan of WW (basically, indifferent), I actually find it an interesting idea. With that said, I can understand that fans would be up in arms over such a rewriting of her origins.
  5. That does look a lot better. How did you apply the clear blue on the canopy? Paintbrush, airbrush, or dipped in tinted FFP?
  6. Thanks for the video tutorial, guys! I didn't realize I could have used that extra hinge on the arm to keep it away from that hinge.
  7. You mean the 1/6 version (confirmed canceled) or the 1/12 one? I haven't heard anything about the 1/12 version; it was last shown as part of a teaser for upcoming releases, which included the armory set.
  8. LOL, I could have sworn it looked just like Gywnneth Paltrow!
  9. The pauldrons on mine keep popping off when I try to put the arms back in place for fighter mode.
  10. Seeing as he used a War Machine fig for the body of his Stick figure, smart money says Rook's head most likely came from a Pepper fig. It does look a lot like Gwynneth Paltrow, frankly.
  11. Mickyg, just tell your wife how cute it would be if she could print out little plastic animals with the names of their recipients printed on them as birthday or Christmas gifts! Women are suckers to stuff like that. Trivia: A blue UP! Plus(2?) makes an appearance in Iron Man 3, right at the end.
  12. LOL! Ain't that the truth! The only things I remember about the movie was it's use of non-human terminators, and very little about the plot.
  13. That T-600 looks sweet, Gakken! Those eyes...they shine right into my mechanical soul. Speaking of Salvation figs, I was hoping HT would make a fig of those Terminator "bikes", but after so long, chances are slim that they'll ever be made. On the other hand, it took them almost ten years to release an RE4 Ada Wong to go with Leon.
  14. Frankly, 3d printing is the only way to go for me if I want to make add-ons for my Valks and TF's, since I have neither the skills nor the tools to make traditional molds. As for 3d software, it's not quite as as intimidating as it first seemed to me. Sure, there's a certain learning curve, but software like Sketchup and 3DSMax are user-friendly enough that you can teach yourself by experimenting and through trial and error.
  15. Thanks for the info, Reivaj! Good to know I wasn't doing it wrong Haha, I'm just glad I decided to ask for advice instead of trying to "wing it"! The manual doesn't explain anything regarding that, although it might have been written there--I wouldn't know since I can barely read Japanese.
  16. To make a long story short, I actually received YF-29 Isamu Custom from my sister as a belated birthday/Christmas present. Anyways, I'm having trouble with the leg transformation. After transforming it from fighter to GERWALK to Battroid and back, I have to leave the knee bent at one click in order to be able to tab the wings to the legs. Is this actually correct, or should the legs be completely straight when transformed correctly? It tried straightening the legs perfectly but then they'd sit too high for the wings to tab into them. Any advice?
  17. As they say in TV instruction manuals: Congratulations on your purchase of the UP! Plus 2 3D Printer!
  18. I almost per-ordered the Star Boost suit. Loved the overall design and the backpack boosters. The only problem was that it was white. I'm fast running out of space in my man cave, so I can only get one Iron Man fig. Picking a white IM suit as my definitive IM doesn't seem to be as iconic or representative as the traditional red-and-gold colors.
  19. Well, one of the main benefits is that you can get better after-purchase support, as you can just call the guy can talk to him instead of having to wait for email replies. From what I've read in 3D printing forums, if you buy a printer online, the company usually sends you whole components so you can replace them yourself, instead of having you send it in for repairs. Another is that you can order plastic filament and have them delivered in a day or two, right to your doorstep. Other than that, it really just boils down to which one sells it cheaper.
  20. Thanks for the info! In this case, I guess it should be perfectly safe to use energy-saving bulbs on my "uplight" floor lamp. The bulb is aimed upwards, and the light basically hits the ceiling and walls, and reflects off of them, so whatever UV rays that are generated will be absorbed by the walls.
  21. As an UP! Plus 2 user, I fully recommend it. The auto-calibration really makes it much more convenient to use. I usually get my spools from the local distributor (he actually delivers it to my doorstep) , although 3dprintingsystems.com also sells both the UP line of printers as well as original plastic filament spools online. Let me tell you, those spools will last you a while--I'm still using the one that came with my printer. But if you've got the cash to spare, the Formlabs Form1 is a more "elegant" way to print in 3D--it's virtually noiseless, and since the resin isn't heated during printing, there are absolutely no fumes. It's a stereolithiographic printer that hardens a dish of resin using a beam of laser as a printing method. Apparently, it outperforms all "traditional" extrusion-type 3d printers in terms of its ability to print unbelievably detailed items. But as you would expect, it doesn't come cheap. 3,299 USD, to be exact. The bottles of liquid resin it uses cost a pretty penny as well, at 149 USD per 1 liter bottle. Strangely, though, despite its more "advanced" technology, the items it prints aren't immune to print lines either.
  22. Nice job! I love the classical, almost ThreeA-ish designs and weathering. I mean every word of it; these are beautiful and inspiring. BTW, I'm also an UP! user; I'm using an UP! Plus 2, though. Did you print those in separate pieces or fully assembled?
  23. My thoughts exactly. On the bright side, my Generations WJ makes a decent stand-in, just in case.
  24. Which is why I always keep the curtains drawn in my display room, and keep the figs as far away from the windows as possible.
