No way those cheeks are natural--has to be special effect makeup. Looks more like those freaky implants done by those guys trying to turn themselves into cat people or something.

Not to my knowledge.

AFAIK, this the same mold as the Yamato V2, except the Arcadia version comes with an extra stand and option parts (the option parts are included with the 30th anniversary DYRL Yammies, though), and a white color somewhere between the TV's super-bright white and DYRL version's off-white.

There are a couple of things you can tinker around with to see if it helps. First off is the flap on the extrusion unit, which controls the amount of air that flows into the nozzle area. IIRC, you should keep it closed for better results if you're printing large objects. You can find out more in the user manual. Secondly, make sure you don't have an AC, table or ceiling fan switched on nearby. Any uneven cooling or sudden draft can royally screw up the print job. The general rule seems to be that the hotter the surrounding area is, the better. Living in a tropical country, that's hardly a problem for me...which is why I stay out of my man cave when the printer is working, or I'll be baked alive in there without turning on the fan or AC.

I'm a little confused here. On the pic you posted, the wings are pretty small. Is that just part of the whole model, or a different model altogether?
-
I was thinking of another Excalibur, but this one's just as awesome! Yeah, I've also found that vertical printing is yields the best results. Those panel lines came out really well. What do you plan to use for the canopy? There's clear filament available, although it's more like frosted glass than clear.
-
Excalibur model? Tell me more, you have my attention.
-
@ Chronocidal: have you tried posting a question here?
-
Love how the weathering also does double duty as panel lining. Just out of curiosity, did you AB it or use a diluted chalk/panel wash?
-
That is some amazing work, Zammaz!

Thanks for the tips! If and when I get a hold of those super parts, I might reinforce those joints to keep them from loosening due to the added weight.

I didn't even know what Lost Planet was until I came across this thread. But I do love powered armor with pilots. Displaying both together lends the figures a great sense of scale that you can't get by just displaying the mecha alone. My wallet's not going to like this.

Is there a way to tighten the joints?

Those are some sweet pics of the BOP, TCracker! -
Droopy Wing syndrome? I didn't hear about the YF-29 suffering some something like that. Was it on the Alto version?
-
Damn, I see it too--it's on both of the colored prototypes. The neck cover seems to be the same color as well.
-
Shouldn't the wings be in the retracted/high-speed mode when the super parts are mounted? I could have sworn I read that somewhere in macross2.net.
-
I think I've finally decided what my 1 wish for Arcadia is: Macross The First Valks. I know they're just repaints with redesigned heads, but I really like the new paint jobs and new head designs, especially the -1J. That said, the scrooge in my might not be willing to pay what Arcadia might charge for it.
-
MacrossJunkie, I admire your dedication, seriously. All that trouble to repaint those tiny fold quartz pieces. Well worth the effort, though. The purple almost perfectly matches the ones by the wing roots (sorry if that's not the right term for it; I'm no aircraft engineer ).

My bad. Wasn't paying attention when I read mechaninac's post, and somehow misinterpreted "arch-backed" to mean that the back of the fighter is sitting higher than the front, as in not level.
-
I think the arc-backed look is is more of an illusion caused by the tapered black paint app behind the cockpit. If you cover that part of the pic that Reivaj posted with your fingertip, the whole fighter mode suddenly looks much more level. As for the gullet, well, there's really no saving that.

I guess I don't feel so bad about my local hobby store not bringing any Arcadia YF-19's in. GERWALK's always been my favorite mode for displaying Valks.
-
True. There was always something I found a little "off" about the Yamato YF-19's proportions in fighter mode when viewed sideways; I couldn't really put a finger to it until I started comparing pics if it and the Arcadia version. Question: is the Arcadia YF-19 able to pull off a better looking GERWALK mode than the Yammie 1/60 YF-19? While I like the fact that the improved ankles allow the whole foot to make contact with the ground, the legs still don't look as if they're capable of the kind of dynamic poses I've seen in VF-25's. The Yammie M7 VF-19's seem to be able to achieve a better looking A stance, but that seems to be at the expense of exposed ball joints for the ankles. Then again, the elongated neck makes the GERWALK mode look kind of derpy anyway, except maybe when viewed from the front.
-
Out of curiosity, I googled for YF-19 pics, and this one from anymoon shows that the Yammie YF-19 (from the top, at least) is near identical to the line art: But there's no arguing that the Arcadia YF-19's neck is much prettier from the side.

Not really a fan of those harpoon things fold wave projectors. But given that they're just 35-50 USD, I might pick up a set for completion's sake. Really depends on availability and whether I've got better stuff to buy when it's released.
