Agreed! Blurr and Kup are especially in need of an MP toy. Generations Springer kind of hits the spot for me, though. He scales in pretty well with the rest of the MP figs. While I'm not the biggest fan of Hot Rod, I wouldn't mind picking up an all-new MP version, preferably just as Hot Rod. MP-09 was an ambitious attempt at giving us the complete Hot Rod(imus), it was maybe a little too ambitious.- 16945 replies

I only know what the title says: Latest Masterpiece Silhouette Exposed/Revealed! From the look of the pic, it seems like UM will basically be a shell that MP-10 "wears."- 16945 replies

I'm usually the kind who buys figures whose characters I know nothing about as long as they look cool, but I'm feeling kinda "meh" towards Star Saber. Nothing about the design really stands out, and the jet mode is a little too "busy" for my tastes.- 16945 replies

Whenever I need inspiration to continue with my own projects, a visit to the Workbench never fails to deliver. These are some awesome looking WIPs! Currently working DMK-02 Bumblebee myself, but haven't made enough progress to post pics yet. Just painted some titanium silver on the rims and forearm kibble, and got rid of the seam lines on the "toes".

That's definitely something that'll come in handy for me! All this while, I've been using a trigger-type airbrush--a bleed valve on a traditional pen-type AB will help make the learning curve less steep. Tamiya airbrushes don't seem to come with built-in bleed valves, but hlj sells them. Currently out of stock, though.
-
Sounds like that store owner wasn't exactly telling me the whole truth. The airbrushes he showed me had pretty stiff triggers, and he kept telling me you should just control the airflow through the compressor. Could I still do "fancy" stuff like pre-shading and filter coats on 15 psi? I'd rather not mess with the pressure too much until I'm sure I know what I'm doing. I'm pretty used to 15 psi myself (my compressor only outputs at this psi anyway). And out of curiosity, is Tamiya's Basic Airbrush safe to use on my Sparmax compressor? The airflow is constant, meaning you can't stop the airflow at all--it sprays air through the nozzle as long as the compressor is turned on. You can only control the amount of paint flow using the trigger. I'm just worried that it might be put a strain on the Sparmax compressor. The setup I have been using (Tamiya Spraywork Basic Compressor and AB set) takes care of wide area paint jobs pretty well. Of course, nothing beats a spray can when it comes to large areas like car chasis's and tanks. I still prefer to use and airbrush, since I can paint indoors with the spray booth turned on. I've always wanted to try using a double action airbrush for stuff like pre- and post-shading, and doing exhaust stains. The only reason I didn't get one until now was because I couldn't use them with my Spraywork Basic compressor--you have to remove the air valve to use a double-action AB with is, which practically turns it into a single action one.
-
I just need to ask a basic question about double action airbrushes. Is it possible to control the amount of air by how much you press down on the trigger button? Or is it controlled from the compressor itself--as in you adjust the PSI on the compressor and just press the trigger button all the way down, getting a constant amount of air? I'm asking this because the airbrushes I've tried at an art shop seem to all have poor sensitivity when it comes to airflow control. It's hard to get a gradual increase in airflow, since the trigger is so stiff--when ever I press down on it, i usually end up using so much force that I press it all the way to the bottom. The store owner tells me that you're supposed to control the airflow from the compressor itself instead of trying to do so on the fly via the airbrush, but sellers will tell you anything to get you to buy their stuff. So, I'd just like to get a confirmation on this. Thanks in advance!

Now that you mentioned it, it does make perfect sense. Jon seems to be fulfilling Millisandre's prophecies one by one.

To quote Jeff Goldblum: "He did it. The crazy sonofabitch did it." Seriously, though, that's awesome!

I remember reading an article where Martin says he killed off Ned and Rob precisely because the readers and viewers started to see them as main characters. He also went on to say that he likes to keep things "unpredictable" in the novels. He seems to imply that he does it mainly to keep the audience on their toes, rather than having a plot-related reason for it. I suspect he killed off Joffrey because everyone was expecting to see him to still be there on the iron throne, shitting his pants when either the Cold Ones or Danaerys's army comes knocking on the gates of King's Landing.

Sorry, didn't mean to ruin it for you, EXO. Honestly, it was never my intention to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the books. I was careful to put everything in spoilers, but unfortunately I didn't expect that people would think the spoiler are only from the latest episode TV series. I mean, the thread did (used to) say A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones until a few hours ago. I guess it's for the best now that we've got separate threads for the books and TV series. I was really surprised to come back to the thread a few hours later, have people saying I ruined it for them despite having written everything in spoiler tags. I even made sure to put the "real" spoiler in another spoiler tag. ...and that's the safest spoiler I can give right now. It was definitely unintentional; I try my best not to spoil anything for anyone. Up until EXO mentioned it, it really never occurred to me that people would expect the spoiler to come from the TV series, and not the book. I just thought spoilers were a universal "read at your own risk" tag. But I guess it does make sense in retrospect. Frankly, the show's gained so much (well-deserved) popularity that more people watch the TV series than read the books. It's come to a point that we now need to categorize spoilers into books and TV series.

Lena Headey probably had a no-nudity clause in her contract since the first season, being the only "big name Hollywood" actress in the show. That said, she might go nude

Nope. A joke was posted that could have been misinterpreted as something offensive to Kicker. I think you can figure out the rest. Said joke was deleted long before I arrived, so I've no idea what was said..

I don't have a habit of displaying my Valks with their backs facing me, so the back of the head isn't an issue. Seriously though, I'm not a fan of the missile pod in battroid mode.

I was never a fan of Mac7, so it's an instant pass for me. Still, I'm interested in seeing what the differences are between the Yamato version and theirs. And more importantly, what improvements they've made on it, if any, compared to the V2 YF-19. Well, if they're working on Macross 7 now, I wouldn't mind getting Millia's VF-1J in its M7 colors. Then again, I'm not sure I'd want to pay Arcadia prices for a slightly different paint scheme, since I've already got my Yammie M&M's.
-
I didn't buy the V2 so I have no idea how the gun pod looks in person, but from the pics, it looks gray. Maybe not the right tone of gray, but better than olive drab at least.

I've no idea what a fake tank destroyer is, but I love the look of it! The weathering job is beautiful!

That's a cool bit of info! I'm actually tempted to put those stickers on my old Yammie YF-19 now. No wonder they looked almost perfect. Did you actually cut the yellow "rescue" sticker into 3 separate pieces and stick them on? Try as I might, I couldn't find a single clear border on them!
-
Nice pics! The borders on those stickers also look much narrower than the old ones that came with the Yammie Valks. BTW, what does that FF-2200 sticker mean?

Need Suggestions for a Sparmax TC-610 Compatible Airbrush
GU-11 replied to GU-11's topic in The Workshop!
Yeah, the guy at the store told me about the overheating, but it does have an auto-shutdown feature to prevent damage. In any case, I don't usually spend more and a half hour per spraying session--45 minutes, tops. Spraying in an air-conditioned room helps, too. It IS a little noisy, but it's pretty tolerable, no worse than my old Basic Spraywork compressor, which is about 65 decibels. Either way, it's the best one they've got, and that shop's the only place I could find locally that sells airbrush compressors. Besides, different voltage levels between countries means I can only buy from local brick-and-mortar shops. A voltage converter would make all the difference but I just can't seem to find one.- 9 replies

Well, congrats on your (re)purchase! Arcadia should be doing a reissue on these in the foreseeable future, and hopefully I'll be able to grab one at an equally low price. Was never a fan of the missiles anyway. So it does open, but not in the way it was depicted in the anime? Well, even for a 300 USD fig, I guess some things are just not possible.

Need Suggestions for a Sparmax TC-610 Compatible Airbrush
GU-11 replied to GU-11's topic in The Workshop!
Hey there, Jeff! I wouldn't mind buying the set, but there were a few things I have to consider. The main issue is that I don't live the US, which would make shipping spare parts especially expensive and troublesome--I've heard that while needles can last for years with good care, they don't last forever either. At least with Tamiya, I could get them to order parts for me. Those Paasche needles for that set seem to have a wider body, and then there's a sudden "step" when it nears the tip. I don't think the usual airbrush needles will work on it. Also, despite googling for hours, I couldn't find any info about whether that Paasche airbrush set (or Paasche AB's in general) is compatible with the Sparmax's hose. These things don't seem to be universal--my old Spraywork compressor can only be connected to certain airbrushes, according to the manual. Although, my dinky old plastic Tamiya basic AB screws on perfectly into the Sparmax compressor's hose, so I'm at least confident that I can use Tamiya airbrushes on it. Are airbrushes universally compatible with all compressors?- 9 replies

Just curious, but do those missile compartments in the legs actually deploy in fighter mode in the Arcadia toy?
