All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!
GU-11 replied to Keith's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think FF 13 itself was actually harder than the sequels because of the level capping. 13-3 aka Lightning Returns is somewhat manageable if you literally take the time to complete side quests for EP, or souls, or whatever the game uses to level up your stats. There's also an option to do a "new game plus" restart in case you just don't have the stats to face the final boss. Been a while since I played FF 13-2, so I don't remember much about it. I remember the gameplay was a little addictive (I don't mind a little level grinding), but beyond that, it's just one convoluted jumble of time-traveling nonsense that just flew right over my head. The plots totally sucked, I agree. I found the gameplay decent though, but then I'm a fan of Dynasty Warriors, so my standards in gaming aren't exactly high.- 6831 replies

Realistic enough, I'd say. I think the one on the left looks better, as the paint chipping effect runs along the length of the edge and is more staggered.

All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!
GU-11 replied to Keith's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Incidentally, I'm in no hurry to start playing Bloodborne myself. I mean, I'll still have to test out my PS4 using the game, but I'm currently addicted to Valkyria Chronicles. As it happens, all that save data I backed up from my old PS3 was for nothing, as you can't use save data from another PS3. So now I'm going through all my old games from scratch, and it was surprisingly fun playing through them again after all these years.- 6831 replies

I just got the game as a bundle with my PS4 today. I was planning to get FF Type 0, but the bundle was cheaper and had a 2 year warranty plus some freebies. You played it yet? Is it infuriatingly difficult, or can you level-grind to even the odds? I personally don't have a taste for super-hard games, but I'm willing to give it a try. I heard the same too; just hope my skills are up to the task.- 6831 replies

Sadly, I think it's only available on the PS2. Not sure if it's on Steam or PC.- 6831 replies

I strongly recommend Breath of Fire - Dragon Quarter next. Admittedly, I haven't played any of the previous BoF games, but Dragon Quarter is good enough that I occasionally play the game on my PS2 even now, but have never touched any of the other PS2 games ever since I bought a PS3. I really liked the characters and storyline.- 6831 replies

BRUCE LEE -Greatest Martial Artist EVER
GU-11 replied to Snail00's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, it really puts you inside the man's mind during his period of "awakening". It's hardly a martial arts instruction book, frankly--his wife said as much in the preface, and it's true. Through the book, you'll understand his way of thinking and his philosophy, which IMO, is the greatest thing about Bruce Lee, even more than his ability to kick ass. -
I could stare at that all day with The Beast set on loop in my i-pod. At the risk of getting flamed, I actually prefer the Star Wars Rebels version of the AT-ST--just prefer the more streamlined look of it. The original's still a gorgeous classic mech, though.

At 900 USD, it better come with a complete Iron Man fig Russian doll'ed inside it.

With Gundam kits, I always panel line everything right on the runners/trays, since I don't paint my Gunpla (a coat of matte clear is all it takes to bring everything to life.

Scale Model Link Thread for Non Macross builds
GU-11 replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've only built one Kotobukiya AC kit (Aaliyah Krasnaya) ; it's pretty decent as long as you don't mind having to deal with microscopic parts and the need to fill in the seams and paint everything. The worst thing about it is that the shoulder parts have to be assembled and the seams filled in first, before you can paint them. But they have to be assembled along with the rest of the lower arm--it's just designed that way. So, you end up having to do a lot of masking before you can paint anything. That said, it's still much better than the DMK Bumblebee kit I'm building--the pegs are frighteningly tight. The thighs on the Ray appear to be the same case, but it shouldn't be as problematic as the Krasnaya's shoulders, since the larger parts make for easier masking. That's pretty impressive. The colors are all wrong, but the fact that it's 3d printed from scratch and remote controlled more than makes up for it.- 80 replies

Are you going to seal the model with something? Once dust gets on paper, it's pretty much impossible to clean without leaving a grayish smear on the surface.

All I know of Macross II was that it was made without Dza Biggu Froating Head's involvement, and he's apparently still sore about it--never watched the anime, or even read the synopsis. The only thing that matters to me is that the VF-2SS is a gorgeous Valk, and you did an amazing job on what seems to be a rather wonky kit. Can't wait to see it all completed! P.S., I wonder if we'll ever see an updated kit or toy of the VF-2SS.

From this angle, the cement mixer foot looks a lot better. Not sure if this has already been posted, but here's CW Menasor sans "birthing hips": It's a "fan mode" though, and is apparently not as stable as the official way of transformation. That said, articulation won't be impeded in this better looking mode.- 16945 replies

I remember reading a couple of the comics way back when. As for the fig, for some reason, the face keeps reminding me of Zhang Ziyi.

Just a bit of a "vanity post". Was wondering if I should post this in the TF thread, but seeing as it's the 3d printed accessories that are the stars.... Anyways, it's a commissioned accessories kit for Alternators Hound that I did for a customer. Admittedly, the finishing's a bit rough, but he was really anxious to get everything on his Alternators Hound, and just gave the parts a simple paint job without putty or sanding.

I almost never cap my paint cup when airbrushing, because I usually use very little paint.

Not too shabby for a Hasbro mainline UM, and no butt-flap, at that. And the knees seem to have more articulation than the MP version. Still, I don't regret getting MP UM. CW UM would be too small to be displayed with the other MP figs.- 16945 replies

Nice! That's the Kotobukiya kit, right? I've got the Ray, but still haven't gotten around to building it; almost a year since I bought it, and I still haven't decided on the colors or the finish.- 80 replies

Well regardless of the shade of gray, that's a really crisp paint job. Yeah, masking sucks. EDIT: I meant it's the task of masking a figure or kit that sucks, not the quality of your masking. Just realize how nebulous that sounded when I read that again today.
